Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Red’s Advance

In order to make Red understand the potential of Pokémon Tech, Joe brought Red to the Pokémon battle simulation room. Though it was called a Pokémon simulated battle, in reality it was just playing a turn-based arcade game.

"In Pokémon simulated battles, I usually use the Cerulean Gym as a warm-up!" Joe explained to Red while playing the battle game in front of him. On the screen, Victreebel faced Starmie. Victreebel defeated Starmie in a single move, without any calculation of whether it would dodge or whether the damage index met the standard. It was nothing more than self-indulgent data created purely for the sake of victory.

Red showed disdain. Only the weak would immerse themselves in useless data. Annoyed by the arrogance Joe occasionally revealed, Red decided to personally correct Joe's mistakes.

"Huh? You want to battle me? No, no!"

Upon hearing Red's challenge, Joe hurriedly shook his head in refusal. The strength of Charmeleon had already made him clearly aware of the gap between them. He had no intention of throwing his life away.

"Relax. Let's battle using your simulation data. Surely Pokémon Tech can at least provide these two Pokémon, right?" Red chuckled lightly as he stood opposite Joe, ready for battle.

"I won't lose. Here's Starmie's Poké Ball. The Pokémon provided for battle won't resist their trainer's commands, so you can command it without worry." Joe's eyes revealed confidence; he clearly believed in the results of his previous simulation.

(Idiot…)

Red let out a soft laugh and threw the Poké Ball. A Starmie appeared before them. Seeing this, Joe also threw his Poké Ball and sent out Victreebel.

"Without water, a Water-type Pokémon can't possibly win!" Joe declared confidently.

"Water Gun."

Starmie hesitated not at all, shooting a stream of water that struck Victreebel. The powerful impact was more than Victreebel, even as a Grass-type, could withstand. It was knocked straight to the ground.

"Impossible! Victreebel clearly resists Water!" Joe exclaimed in disbelief, unable to accept what he was seeing.

"That's why you're not good enough! That Starmie's strength clearly surpasses Victreebel's. Even with a type advantage, it would be difficult to defeat it!"

A girl in a dazzling uniform appeared before Red, surrounded by the five boys who had fled earlier. Giselle wore an arrogant expression. It had to be said that her looks were indeed captivating—no wonder Ash had blushed when he saw her in the original story.

(Though that was partly due to early character setting instability…)

But the arrogance she revealed from time to time made Red uncomfortable. It seemed that being doted on since childhood had made her look down on others.

"Miss Giselle, that guy just insulted our school!" the red-haired boy pointed at Red.

"You'd better put that finger down, unless you want to lose it," Red said coldly. The aura he emitted sent chills down their spines, and the red-haired boy quickly lowered his hand in fear.

"What an arrogant fellow!" Giselle said unhappily. Though she had felt the chill from Red's aura, she still stepped forward to defend her school's dignity.

"Miss Giselle~" ×6

Not only the five lackeys, but even Joe beside Red gazed at Giselle with heart-shaped eyes, as if she were some priceless treasure.

Giselle enjoyed the admiring gazes of the opposite sex—that was something she took pride in. Yet Red continued to look at her coldly. That displeased her deeply. Instead of asking directly, she questioned Red about his reason for coming to Pokémon Tech.

"My reason? Just passing by," Red replied calmly, completely ignoring Giselle's darkening expression.

"Red, you'd better leave quickly! Miss Giselle is the top student among the beginners—she can even be directly promoted to intermediate level!" Joe hurriedly tried to persuade him, as repayment for saving him earlier. But Red ignored the advice and stepped forward, meeting Giselle's eyes directly.

"If you want to protect Pokémon Tech's dignity, then try defeating me."

Red's tone made Giselle's face turn unpleasant. The five behind her completely lost their composure, taking out their Poké Balls to show off in front of her.

"Leave it to us, Miss Giselle!"

"Let us teach this arrogant guy a lesson!"

"Don't think having a Charmeleon means you can push your luck!"

Five white flashes faded, revealing Nidorino, Raticate, Machoke, Ponyta, and Cloyster. Seeing this, Starmie trembled in fear, losing all desire to fight.

"Come back."

Red recalled the frightened Starmie without the slightest surprise. He had no bond with it; it had no reason to fight for him.

"Come out, Charmeleon."

Red threw his Poké Ball and sent out his own Pokémon.

"Roar—"

Charmeleon let out a roar the moment it appeared, easily suppressing the five Pokémon with its sheer presence.

"Such a massive Charmeleon—this doesn't match the data in the books at all!" Giselle exclaimed, her beautiful eyes fixed tightly on Charmeleon as she tried to analyze its abnormal growth.

The noble students' Pokémon were indeed well developed physically, but their presence was inferior even to wild Pokémon. Even facing five opponents alone, Charmeleon showed no caution. It lazily puffed out a small flame from its mouth, full of disdain.

"Dammit! Even the Pokémon is this arrogant!" the red-haired boy shouted angrily, commanding Ponyta to use Flamethrower. Charmeleon sneered and opened its mouth, completely absorbing Ponyta's flames before spitting out a blazing pillar of fire that struck Ponyta.

"Too bad—my Ponyta has Flash Fire!" the red-haired boy boasted. Ponyta, struck by flames, showed no injury and instead seemed to enjoy the warmth.

(Flash Fire: A Pokémon with this Ability is unaffected by Fire-type moves. When hit by a Fire-type move, its Attack and Special Attack are multiplied by 1.5.)

Red had no intention of giving orders, allowing Charmeleon to fight freely. Seeing Red's lack of concern, Giselle stepped aside curiously to watch.

(If fire doesn't work, then taste this!)

Charmeleon opened its mouth. Mistaking it for another fire attack, the red-haired boy let Ponyta remain in place to "enjoy" it—only for Charmeleon to release not flames, but equally scorching Dragon Breath.

The azure Dragon Breath struck Ponyta, and the paralysis effect left it unable to move. Charmeleon rushed forward and defeated it with a single Dragon Claw.

"How is this possible! That Charmeleon can use Dragon-type moves so skillfully!" Giselle exclaimed, frantically flipping through the book in her hands for answers.

"All of you, come at once," Red said calmly. Victorious, Charmeleon impatiently waved its hand, urging the remaining Pokémon to hurry up and face their doom. The arrogant display completely enraged the others. They had intended to wear Charmeleon down one by one, but now they no longer cared about "fairness."

Giselle initially wanted to stop them, but then decided to observe Charmeleon's true strength and remained silent. For a moment, she found herself stunned by the powerful aura radiating from Red's face—something she had never seen at Pokémon Tech.

Red still allowed Charmeleon to fight autonomously. Without Ponyta's complication, Charmeleon immediately used Fire Spin to surround all four Pokémon, then charged forward and bit down fiercely on Raticate with Fire Fang. Burning in flames, Raticate screamed in terror before being knocked into the wall by an Iron Tail.

"Cloyster, use Water Gun!"

"Nidorino, use Horn Attack!"

"Machoke, use Brick Break!"

The remaining three launched their attacks. Charmeleon calmly assessed the situation. It used Flamethrower to evaporate the Water Gun into mist, then used the cover of the vapor to approach Nidorino. With sheer strength, it stopped Nidorino's charge, grabbed its poisonous horn with one hand, hurled it into the air, and sent it flying out the window with an Iron Tail.

At the same time, Machoke closed in with Brick Break. Charmeleon countered with Dragon Claw. After undergoing strength training, Charmeleon easily overpowered Machoke and defeated it with a close-range Flamethrower.

Only Cloyster, known for its high defense, remained. Charmeleon slowly approached, ignoring Cloyster's fearful gaze. Its hands glowed white as it prepared to use Brick Break.

"There's no way I'll let you succeed—Cloyster, use Withdraw!"

Following its trainer's command, Cloyster quickly retreated into its shell. Charmeleon instead seemed pleased at the defensive move—this was a perfect chance to train its close combat skills.

Bang! Bang!

With a joyful expression, Charmeleon repeatedly struck Cloyster's shell with Brick Break. No matter how desperately the blue-haired boy shouted, Charmeleon showed no mercy. Finally, unable to endure the continuous assault, Cloyster's eyes spun, and its shell fell open.

Charmeleon defeated five opponents alone—a perfect victory, without even the slightest sign of injury.
