Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The strongest human Vs the weakest sprout.

The eyes on its legs gazed into his eyes, he froze.

"I'm not scared so what is this?

Why can't I move" Heimer wondered.

He bit his tongue; he had used this method to overcome his confusion earlier, however it didn't work this time.

"It's using a strange power… aether?

[His eyes widened]

Why did I think about that.

For some reason I feel like vague information I never knew is coursing through my head.

Even information on this thing…

So this is a…" Heimer gazed into the eyes of the beast as it had gazed into him.

"You sprout!" Heimer closed his eyes.

His body was free once more.

He swung his giant axe straight to its head.

"Hmm?...it didn't connect." Heimer opened his eyes.

!

It wasn't there, he thought to look behind him.

It wasn't there either.

Now a shadow was casting above him, Heimer didn't even look above.

He bent over to his back, putting his hopes on his shield.

Its claws pierced through the shield nearly piercing Heimer.

He pushed it back with pure brute alone.

"Does this thing weigh a ton or what?

[Crash] The recoil from the sprout's strike made him break through the wooden frame, on which the catapult rested on.

My hand feels like it's going to break." Heimer stood up from the fall.

He and the beast now stood face to face.

"I've never felt this small in the good 63 years of my life" Heimer left out a chuckle.

He was by no means a small man, quite the opposite as he stood at 2.2 metres tall.

But he was now looking up to the sprout that was over 3 metres in height.

It pounced on him, but he reacted quickly.

He rolled over to the right barely dodging it.

Immediately after recovering from the roll, he went in for a swing.

[Fwish] it vanished.

"Heh, is that your favourite trick?" Heimer immediately swung around behind him.

"It connected…" Heimer was sure.

It was now in his front, it vanished once more this time backwards.

It had gotten and injury on its hind leg.

"That wasn't deep enough.

This shield on my back is weighi-" He became on guard.

!

It had vanished from his field of vision.

[Fwish!] It was right in front of him.

"Wha-" Heimer was struck by his side, this sent him flying.

It appeared right beside him, heaving him by the mouth and him chewing on his left arm.

"Arghhh, mmph" The sound of him trying not to scream as he went through immense pain.

It chewed through the gold plated armour and was now biting through him arm.

[Crash] They crashed through the floor with Heimer at the bottom.

His back hurt, his left arm was nearly torn through.

His eyes were red.

He swung his axe along the floor, then sharply took it up.

It sparked as its blade scratched against the stones on the floor.

With one desperate swing he had cut both of the eyes on its fore limbs.

It retreated immediately.

[ARGHHH!] The man screamed.

[Screeeeeech] The sprout wailed.

Both man and sprout were feeling similar emotions.

Heimer grit his teeth through the pain.

"This is my chance.

Ugh" He tried standing with one arm, he fell flat.

The beast was now running away from him.

"I see, you can't teleport any longer without your eyes.

You think you can run away from me?" Heimer pushed through the pain, he got up.

He chased the beast while dragging the enormous axe on one arm.

"Both of us are wounded, but its wounds are more mobility hindering.

I can catch it!" Heimer deducted this as he was now sprinting well over 50 kmph.

"Hah! I'll soon catch up.

But what is this unsettling feeling." Heimer let out a crazed smile.

!

On the hind legs of the sprout emerged another set of eyes.

Heimer knew what as coming.

"Fuc-" it appeared right in front of him and slashed diagonally using its right fore limb.

Heimer swayed to his right to dodge, it still grazed him.

And then a horizontal slash from its left fore limb, Heimer rolled on the floor.

"It's slower, no it's something different."

It reached in for a another hit while Heimer was still on the floor, it missed entirely.

"Its eyes, without them I'm guessing it has to go by smell alone.

But if so how was it able to teleport between towns " Heimer slid in under the belly of the beast.

He laid on his back, and with his two legs he a kicked the beast from underneath.

!

At the fifth kick it vanished.

"Tired of getting hit with my golden boots?" Heimer asked the beast as if expecting a reply.

[Shriek!!] The beast was now letting a very loud shriek.

"!!

In the reports it used a shriek to spawn the critters?

It couldn't be?..." Heimer had a cold sweat at the thought.

And from its shadows critters emerged.

"Only that many?" the sight nearly made Heimer chuckle.

The beast itself looked confused, only 5 critters had emerged from its shadows.

"Why do you look shocked?

From the looks of it, you can only spawn critters that exist.

Well you know what's funny?

We killed them all, well except for those five" Heimer was trying to provoke the beast.

He seemed to be enjoying the encounter a bit too much.

The sprout might've not understood language but it understood tone.

[Shrieeeek!] At the sprout's shriek the critters attacked Heimer.

"It's just standing there?

Can it not attack while these charge.

Well this works out for me" Heimer placed his right foot in front of him in preparation for the attack.

Two critters pounced on him at once, with a single swing he cut through them both.

"Hey sprout, want to know something?" Heimer said as the next critter attacked him.

He kicked it forward disrupting the path of the one behind it.

"Back in the battlefield, you wanna know how many of your kin I killed?" With a another swing of his axe he cut through them both.

The last critter leaped at him, he turned a little to his right, dropped his axe and caught it by the neck.

"I better do this now while it can't move." He threw the critter to the floor and stepped on it.

It struggled but couldn't leave his pin.

Finally unequipping the heavy shield from his back and throwing it to the floor.

"You see…I would also like to know too." Heimer grabbed his axe and laid waste to the critter.

"Cause I stopped counting at 300" He charged at the critter.
