The defining characteristic of the Spirit Fusion Skill used by Hu Liena and Xie Yue was absolute control. Within the domain of the Charm Demon, all opponents' senses were reduced by 50%, their soul power suppressed by 50%, and all movements delayed by 50%. It was a technique that pushed an enemy into a desperate corner the moment it was unleashed.
The thick crimson fog was a specialized energy—a cocktail of malice and illusion. Aside from the three debilitating debuffs, the most terrifying aspect was that within this fog, only the users, Xie Yue and Hu Liena, could see. Sudden blindness combined with general weakening was enough to cause even opponents of the same rank to fall into chaos. This spirit skill's effectiveness was truly comparable to the sixth soul skill of a Soul Saint after utilizing a Martial Soul Avatar.
As the Shrek team was swallowed by the red haze, cold sneers appeared on the faces of the remaining Spirit Hall members. Tang San had indeed provided many surprises, but how could he possibly be their match alone? After all, this was a team tournament, not a solo showcase.
Entering the pinkish mist, the Shrek team felt their bodies grow heavy. Their perception dulled, and every gesture felt as if it were being hindered by an invisible barrier. Yet, no one panicked. In the split second before the fog fully closed in, the battle soul masters—excluding Tang San—had encircled Oscar. The food soul master, acting as if nothing was wrong, continued producing sausages according to the plan.
Clang! Clang!
Two sharp metallic strikes rang out within the fog, followed by a startled, gender-neutral cry.
"How can you possibly know my attack trajectory?" the combined voice of the Charm Demon demanded.
The red fog did not obstruct the vision of the Charm Demon. They could clearly see a faint smile on Tang San's face, and a purple light was rising within his black pupils. Tang San's ability to see through the domain was entirely due to his Purple Demon Eye. Although his current mastery was not yet at its peak, it granted him a limited range of sight, which was precisely why he had taken the initiative to close the distance.
As the dominant half of the fusion, Xie Yue immediately exerted more force. In this state, his soul power was the sum of his and Hu Liena's, further bolstered by the support soul master to reach a level exceeding Rank 70. Though they lacked a Martial Soul Avatar, their raw strength had increased dramatically.
And yet, the dual Moonblades were held at bay by the Clear Sky Hammer. Tang San's individual strength was actually trending toward a stalemate with their boosted power.
'Is this the immense enhancement brought by absorbing soul rings beyond one's limit?' Both Xie Yue and Hu Liena wondered.
Tang San's first soul ring flared. "First Soul Skill: Stability Hammer!" The impact forced the Charm Demon back several meters. While the opponent wasn't injured, it gave Tang San the room he needed. The hammer in his left hand vanished, replaced by the Blue Silver Grass in his right. Four soul rings pulsed, and in that brief opening, he unleashed a relentless chain of control: Binding, followed by Spider Web Restraint, Blue Silver Cage, and finally, Parasite.
Tang San's Blue Silver Grass might not have been his primary offensive tool, but backed by Rank 49 soul power, these four consecutive control skills would force even a Soul King to spend several seconds breaking free.
Having pinned the Charm Demon, Tang San's vines shot toward his teammates. The vines wrapped around the waists of the other six and hurled them violently toward the Spirit Hall formation outside the fog.
This was Tang San's plan. The Charm Demon was powerful, but it had a fatal flaw: it was indiscriminate, affecting both friend and foe. This was why the Spirit Hall members had stayed back. By sending his teammates directly to the enemy, Tang San forced the Charm Demon to focus solely on him. Otherwise, while the domain weakened the other Spirit Hall members, Tang San could use his Purple Demon Eye to hunt them down one by one.
To the spectators outside, the scene was bizarre. Just after the startled cry, six figures soared out from the crimson fog. Ordinarily, soul masters would be lost and unable to escape the haze unless they possessed flight capabilities. Tang San's vines had seized the perfect window.
A tiger's roar erupted from Dai Mubai. While still in mid-air, his First Soul Skill: White Tiger Barrier and Third Soul Skill: White Tiger Vajra Transformation activated simultaneously, his body swelling. Zhu Zhuqing used the vines as a springboard, her speed surging as she pursued Dai Mubai, hovering behind him to wait for an opening. Ma Hongjun's massive flaming wings unfurled, Meng Yiran dropped toward the ground, and Tai Long remained by Oscar's side. They entered a full combat state.
The Spirit Hall members were surprised, but the sneers returned to their faces. The voice of the Charm Demon boomed with disdain from within the fog, "You think you can escape my Spirit Fusion Skill like this?"
In an instant, the red fog expanded, shifting its position to swallow the Shrek members again. Tang San's full-throttle control had only held the Charm Demon for less than two seconds. Even though they had been thrown, the Shrek team was still twenty meters from the Spirit Hall line—not enough to prevent the Charm Demon from repositioning. Even Ma Hongjun's phoenix flames couldn't push back the mist.
The Charm Demon abandoned the attack on Tang San, accelerating to catch the others. But then, Oscar's voice rang out. "Fly!"
Faint light erupted from the backs of the Shrek six, transforming into wings. They accelerated and burst out of the fog's range, ascending into the sky. From the start, Oscar had been producing: first the pink sausage for Tang San, then six Flying Mushroom Sausages.
The Charm Demon remained unfazed. They had anticipated this. Even if the six escaped into the air, Spirit Hall still had five members on the field. Excluding the support soul master, three were Rank 45+ Soul Ancestors, and the third of the Golden Generation, Yan, was a Rank 52 Soul King.
And Shrek? A group of Soul Ancestors whose highest rank was 42, and a Rank 38 Tai Long. Flight was only a temporary stalling tactic; they were no match for the remaining Spirit Hall powerhouses.
The Charm Demon turned back to Tang San. If they took him down, the rest of Shrek would be easy pickings.
