An unknown amount of time passed. When Gu Xuan awoke from the void and pain, he felt as if he had been dreaming. He felt as though he had turned into a true dragon—a domineering Bone Dragon swaying within the infinite void. When he tried to break through that void, he woke up. At this moment, Gu Xuan was in full Martial Soul possession; a layer of dark silver bone armor covered his body, and his hands had turned into bone claws, making him look like a dragon-man.
On his forehead, a pure white slaughter cloud-pattern brand had appeared at some unknown point. The white lines were shaped like blood streaks, resembling the form the blood patterns took on the floor of the Hell Slaughter Arena when the Hell Road was activated, though much smaller. This was the symbol of the Death God Domain etched into Gu Xuan's Martial Soul.
Gu Xuan tried to sense the white pattern. In an instant, a surge of white light quietly spread from his forehead, though it quickly turned colorless. Gu Xuan's perception of the world changed immediately; everything around him seemed suppressed by this power, as if this piece of heaven and earth belonged to him alone.
'Such a powerful ability. Is this the Death God Domain?'
Suddenly, an invisible wave of murderous intent approached, as if something unseen had collided heavily with the Death God Domain Gu Xuan had released. Gu Xuan's body jolted, snapping him out of his excitement, and he quickly turned toward the source.
Dozens of meters away stood a beautiful figure—it was Dugu Yan. Her eyes were full of tenderness as she gazed at him. Gu Xuan's throat moved slightly. The temperature in the final stretch of the Hell Road had been so high that most of Dugu Yan's clothing had been scorched away. Currently, only a few fragments of cloth covered her vital areas. Having spent a year and a half in constant slaughter, seeing his beloved in such a state naturally made Gu Xuan feel a bit "stirred."
"Can you feel it? Xiao Xuan, we succeeded. We both have the Death God Domain," Dugu Yan spoke, her voice soft and pleasant.
"Mm." Gu Xuan's Adam's apple bobbed as he nodded.
Both retracted their domains simultaneously. Gu Xuan stepped forward and pulled Dugu Yan into his embrace. Over the past year and a half, they had faced life-and-death crises, but compared to the danger, their harvest was far greater. Gu Xuan gave Dugu Yan a quick peck on her cherry-red lips before taking a set of her clothes out of his soul tool and handing them over.
Eight dragon swords flew from Gu Xuan's back, rotating at high speed to form a closed space three meters in diameter, enveloping them both so she could change inside. Shortly after, Gu Xuan retracted the Sword Dragon Eight Wings. Dugu Yan stepped out, her small, crystalline jade feet bare, having changed into the emerald-green silk dress Gu Xuan had given her.
Now twenty-two years old and standing at 1.8 meters, Dugu Yan looked even more charming in the long dress. She glanced at Gu Xuan and murmured, "Don't you plan on putting on clothes?"
Only then did Gu Xuan realize his own clothes were also ruined. He wasn't particularly modest; he pulled a set of black, loose casual wear from his soul tool and put it on. He didn't mind Dugu Yan seeing him exposed; after all, he was her man.
Dugu Yan handed him a hair tie, and Gu Xuan pulled his long hair back into a sleek, efficient ponytail. He then took Dugu Yan's hand and said softly, "Let's go. We've been away for so long; it's time to head back and see everyone."
Dugu Yan nodded and walked side-by-side with him. Their figures vanished into the forest, leaving behind only the quiet of the night and the chirping of cicadas.
Inside Slaughter City, Hu Liena had completed eighty victories, only twenty matches away from the final hundred. But today, for some reason, when she arrived at the Hell Slaughter Arena, she found only a handful of people present. Hu Liena had been in closed-door cultivation when Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan surpassed a hundred wins, so she didn't know they had finished their streak and passed the Hell Road.
Seeing the current situation, Hu Liena couldn't help but recall the words her teacher, Bibi Dong, had told her. There was only one possibility: someone had opened the Hell Road, and the people in the arena had become sacrifices. As for who started it, Hu Liena didn't even have to think; it was naturally Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan.
She admired Gu Xuan greatly and could sense he didn't dislike her; it was only because Dugu Yan was always there that he never proactively spoke to her. Aside from the time she sought them out herself, she had tried a few more times later, but was always rejected. They were like strangers who had never met, having no intersection even in Slaughter City.
Hu Liena felt a bit melancholy. She suddenly realized that having someone to rely on here would have made her mental state and progress much faster. Without the help of Tang San (as in the original story) or any assistance from Gu Xuan and Dugu Yan, her speed in leaving Slaughter City was significantly reduced. Furthermore, due to long-term consumption of Bloody Mary, she had realized its bizarre nature, but she couldn't quit it in a short time. This meant she would need more time to solve the problem, further delaying her departure.
Just as Hu Liena thought she was the only practitioner left, she spotted a "fresh meat" in the arena. This person had blue-gold hair reaching his shoulders and held a Clear Sky Hammer with peerless dominance, exuding a maturity and confidence rare for his age.
With just one look, Hu Liena knew this person was also here to train. For some reason, she felt like she had seen him somewhere before. Abruptly, a name surfaced in her mind—Tang San!
But she quickly discarded the thought. While Tang San did have the Clear Sky Hammer and a certain maturity, his appearance and temperament couldn't compare to that of this young man. Therefore, she "knew" this couldn't be Tang San. Since it wasn't Tang San, the fact that he had the Clear Sky Hammer was fine; perhaps this person could be her aid on the Hell Road.

Walking along the path, Gu Xuan asked Dugu Yan, "Yanzi, do you know what the primary function of the Death God Domain is?"
Dugu Yan thought seriously for a moment before replying slowly, "Aura."
Gu Xuan was a bit surprised, but Dugu Yan's ability to pinpoint the essence proved her intelligence. He nodded and said, "Exactly. It's aura. An aura formed by murderous intent. The pressure often makes your opponent unable to display their full strength, while you can exert up to 120%. The effect of the Death God Domain is the same."
Dugu Yan's heart trembled. She didn't know the specific effects yet since she hadn't tested it, but hearing Gu Xuan's explanation, she understood its power. She was a bit puzzled—they had obtained the domain together, so why did he understand it so well? Was this just the gap between geniuses?
Gu Xuan continued, "We have the basic Death God Domain. From now on, within this domain, our opponents' strength will be weakened by 10% while we can exert 110% of our power. As the domain evolves, this ratio will increase."
Dugu Yan nodded, gaining a direct understanding of the domain's use. She felt happy about its strength. However, there was a crucial issue: they hadn't fully mastered it yet. Their aura was leaking out, and they lacked perfect control. They needed to cleanse themselves and master the domain; otherwise, they might be backlashed by the killing intent and suffer the consequences.
...
In the Divine Realm, a tall and heroic man stared at the exit of the Hell Road before finally withdrawing his gaze. He wore a red and black robe and was exceptionally handsome. Three pairs of dark red wings were folded behind his back, shimmering under a violet-red halo, adding a touch of mystery.
"Are you the variable? Rare talent indeed. I look forward to the day you grow up," the man whispered.
As he spoke, the white Death God pattern on Gu Xuan's forehead seemed to resonate, flashing imperceptibly. Gu Xuan seemed to sense something and suddenly looked up at the clear sky, as if he could see through the clouds to whatever lay hidden behind them.
The man saw this, and the corners of his mouth curled into an arc. "Interesting..."
