Chapter 36 - North Lunar Nexus

The sight was the most macabre scene that I had ever witnessed, and the more howls that tore through my battered throat and out of my mouth, the more of the specks of shine she secreted.

The specks multiplied, coating her skin like a second constellation, a grotesque map of corruption that pulsed with each ragged breath she took.

And then they began to lift.

Particle by particle, the fragments peeled away from her flesh, rising into the air like ash caught in an updraft, swirling in a cloud that glowed with sickly luminescence.

The tracker in Caius's hand shrieked, the sound piercing and wrong.

Then I felt a shift in the air, the pressure of divine power pressing down on everything in the room.

The Scions' eyes began to glow.

Zayne's hazel irises flooded with silver light. Kaleb's violet eyes burned brighter. Cyrus's crimson gaze intensified until it looked like molten metal. Rafayel's golden eyes blazed with light that made the fragments seem dim by comparison.
