It was as if a landmine had been triggered. Suddenly, Aurora felt far too heavy in my arms, the shock knocking the strength out of me.
My brothers turned eerily slowly toward us, all looking at her where she still lay in my arms.
Instinctively, I pulled her closer to me, knowing the Zeta's words would be echoing in their heads just as they were in mine. Their reaction to my instinct to keep her to myself was instant—eyes darkening, jaws tightening. All of them looked like they were a second from pouncing.
But the Zeta's voice drew us back from the ledge we were about to jump off.
"Again, it's all here for us to see," he remarked. "You can't keep your eyes off her, even with the scars on your bodies that you could be analyzing." He gave Zayne a pointed look.
