He was putting on the robe when she tugged it out of his hand.
"...Shouldn't you treat it first?" she glanced at his back and hissed. "It's looking... bad. Really bad. If you are not going to a doctor, you should clean and bandage it properly."
She threw the robe onto the couch, rushing out. Moments later, she was balancing a bowl of water, some cloth napkins, and a first aid kit.
Miraculously, she set everything down without dropping anything. "Tell me if it hurts."
She bit her lip, looking at his back. What animal could hurt him like that?
Every inch of him was solid muscle, and right now it was marked with raw wounds layered over old wounds across his back. He looked like he had been mauled.
Her fingers tightened slightly around the cloth.
Valerie wanted to slap her mouth for saying nonsense about his "tastes" out loud.
She stroked the wet cloth across his back, sending a shiver down his spine. She immediately pulled back, thinking she had hurt him.
