Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Magic Lessons with Zafiro

Feeling Seraphin's kiss made Dannep shiver.

Suddenly she felt a wave of warmth wrap around her body and all her negative thoughts began to disappear.

Dannep even smiled; she didn't understand what was happening, but she felt very good about herself.

"I hope it brightened your day. It's one of my magical abilities, it's called golden soul. I can heal and give affection to others in such a way that they feel better. You looked a bit tense so I used it, I hope you don't mind."

After saying that, Seraphin stood up from the floor and sat at the table to have breakfast with the others.

"Eh... Are you a maid?" Dannep asked due to the wave of confidence.

"Ah no, no, I am the first knight general of Drakmorya and I am the strongest soldier in the kingdom," the blue-eyed woman replied.

"The strongest soldier in the kingdom? I think I've heard something about her... But I don't remember, why do I feel like I've seen her somewhere else?" Dannep asked herself, somewhat confused.

"Okay, Miss Strongest Soldier, I hope this time you stay to rest a little instead of going off to save another village."

Silvia refuted with a motherly tone.

"Sorry Sil, but they were orphan children and I had to save them from those bandits, but I promise I'll rest for a week."

Seraphine chewed her pancakes and then looked back at Dannep.

"Besides, it seems I need to catch up with this cutie." After saying that, Seraphine winked and left the kitchen, going upstairs.

"Well, with that said... don't worry Dannep, I'll take care of the issue with Yumi, girls it's time to work!!"

Silvia shouted as the group began doing their assigned tasks.

Dannep finally managed to feel in a familiar environment by having work in her hands.

In Viremont she was the best maid of all when it came to speed, but here...

"Done, here I finish the last towels," Zafiro said while with her wand she moved the towels to their respective places.

It seemed that in Nn, being the best among mages was impossible for a mortal like her.

But Dannep did not complain, she felt good, she was being useful.

After several hours passed, the whole group finished their corresponding work.

Dannep was amazed by Zafiro's abilities, who was the one who explained each of her tasks and how she should do them. Even though Zafiro used magic during the whole process, Dannep was able to understand everything perfectly.

"Alright, we already cleaned the rooms, placed the towels in their places, watered the plants, and removed all the pests from the garden, those are all the tasks for today."

After saying this, Zafiro sat down on the couch in the main hall.

"That's it? There's no more work?" Dannep asked incredulously.

In Viremont, what they had just done was only the beginning of a day of work in the castle for Dannep. She was aware that her coworkers used to give her extra work, but even so it was strange.

Besides, she didn't feel entirely well. After all, she had left all the work to Zafiro, although Zafiro didn't seem bothered by it.

"Yes woman, Silvia and Martha will take care of the rest. Since we have nothing to do, how about we start with your magic lessons."

"Really? I thought I had to earn the right to use magic or something like that. I mean, I want to, thanks, but—"

Dannep felt nervous. She was extremely happy, very happy about using magic, but she couldn't show it, she felt nervous.

"Come on, here you don't have to earn anything. You just have to tell me how you keep your hair so pretty and that's it. Let me go get another one of my wands, I'll be right back."

Zafiro stood up and went upstairs, leaving Dannep alone in the room.

"Wow, you're going to learn magic that fast?"

But she didn't stay alone for long, since Ilyss's voice rose behind her.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to listen from the shadows or anything like that, I was just passing by," the woman said as she approached Dannep.

The latter felt nervous when she remembered her dream; the words about killing Ilyss were still engraved in her mind.

"Why must she kill her? What did she do?" Dannep thought while returning a smile to the queen.

"Oh, pretty girl, I love it when you smile like that," Ilyss said, touching Dannep's lips.

"Sorry if I haven't paid you much attention lately, but I've been busy," she continued, sliding her fingers until she found the wound she had made on Dannep yesterday.

"Busy having sex with Yumi, very busy," Dannep replied in her mind but said nothing out loud.

"I want to make it up to you. How about we have a date today? Just you and me alone. I'll take you to dinner, what do you say?"

Dannep was left speechless. She wanted to reject her, she still didn't feel comfortable with her, but she didn't do it.

"Alright, I'll be ready by nightfall then."

"Good, I'll look pretty for you," Ilyss said as she leaned toward Dannep to kiss her and then left.

"No, no Dannep, no, don't even think weird things."

She said while covering her face with excitement. She still didn't understand how Ilyss could dominate her, but she did.

"Damn, I spent a long time looking for you!"

Zafiro's shout brought Dannep back to reality as she watched the small girl come down the stairs.

"Alright model of Viremont, starting today this will be your wand. It's the first one I ever used and I have some affection for it, but now it's yours."

"What? No, no, how can you give me something so valuable? I don't think I deserve something like this," Dannep refuted.

But Zafiro made a pout and placed the wand in her hands.

"Come on woman, have more confidence in yourself. I'm giving it to you because I want to, so come on let's go outside."

Zafiro grabbed Dannep by the hands and the two of them went out to the backyard. Dannep had only seen the front yard where she worked today, she had not seen this one.

But her steps stopped as soon as she saw the giant dragon in front of them, with red scales like roses and enormous wings. It was the first time Dannep had ever seen a dragon.

"Hey Zafiro, that thing… are we really going to practice here?" Dannep asked without being able to take her eyes off the creature.

"Don't worry, Redryth is always sleeping. Nothing wakes him up, only when Ilyss calls him, look."

Zafiro pointed her wand in the direction of the immense creature and concentrated all her mana at the tip of the wand.

PLash!

A large spear of ice shot toward the dragon, but as soon as it hit its scales it shattered instantly.

The creature remained motionless without the slightest sign of caring about being attacked.

"See? It's really not scary and it doesn't even care that I attacked it. We're going to practice here precisely because of him. Thanks to him being here the mana in the environment is stronger, exactly what a beginner like you needs."

After saying that, Zafiro walked to the front of the garden and Dannep followed her.

"Let's start with the basics, concentrating mana. Take your wand and feel how the energy of the environment invades the center of your chest."

"Hold that energy for a few seconds, and imagine how it spreads from your chest, making a path to your wand. Focus it there just like in your chest and then fire."

"Do you think I can do it? I don't want you to waste your time," Dannep said nervously.

"Come on, I know you'll do well, go ahead."

Dannep closed her eyes and began to concentrate on the mana in the environment. No, she couldn't see the mana.

But she could feel other things. She could feel the energy of the water, the energy of the plants, the energy of the insects around them.

Everything felt so clear, it was as if she had eyes all over the place.

Following what Zafiro had told her, she transferred that energy to her chest, forming a large pink light within it.

There it took some effort for Dannep, but she continued the path toward her hands, concentrating the energy into her wand.

With her eyes still closed, she fired the great energy.

PLash!

The sound wrapped around her ears as she opened her eyes again. When she did, she saw Zafiro both surprised and scared at the same time.

"What? Did I do something wrong or..." Dannep stopped mid-sentence when she saw the dragon's eyes open.

It seemed she had launched her mana blast at him and had awakened him.
