Chapter 31 - I'm Flying!
Kai grinned and stopped running as he completely used 2500 mana to flip the gravitational force on his body. He floated in the air and used the same train of thought to let himself move left, right, up, and down.
Then he looked down as he floated higher and blasted at insane speeds toward the mana point.
While flying, he had fallen an uncountable amount of times but finally gotten the hang of it. He felt insanely proud and happy, as this was something he could not even imagine doing a month ago.
He began to rethink the cultivation technique he had, because now he knew more about it.
First of all, it was not unstoppable. After 5000, he could increase his cap, and unlike what he thought in the start, cultivation was not an entire form of new energy or system, but a way to increase his mana cap. His basic art gave him 5 mana each time normally, while cultivating a beast core would give 20. That was for a spirit grade. He had yet to find a stronger beast.
---
Meanwhile, somewhere in the distance, Tian Qi was sitting in a room with many screens, sipping tea.
He was watching all 4,200 screens showing different people trying, and 4 were at the top. One showing Elena, two others, and one showing Kai.
Then he spat out his coffee for the 20th time that day, as this kid Kai was flying straight at the control room with reckless speed.
Tian Qi got up and spoke loudly, "Oi, I am ending the 3rd test. Understood?"
The men around him nodded instantly as they all began tampering with the systems in front of them.
---
Kai noticed the mana around him using Complete Vision, turning active and violent, while the purple fog grew so thick. Then in a flash of light, Kai and the rest found themselves in front of the white gate like the first time.
Nova was bloodied and bruised, but her body was glowing with a greenish hue as her wounds were slowly closing.
Luca was tired, breathing heavily.
Elena and Kai, though? Both were completely fine. In fact, their auras were stronger than before.
Kai noticed the stat screen near Elena as he inspected her. It was not showing much info, just her name and some goddess type bloodline.
He realized that the mana in the air was shining and spiraling toward the white gate as its center became white and turned into a portal.
Tian Qi said, "You all passed all three tests. Strength, speed, endurance, and the hidden one mental endurance as well as poison and gas resistance. Good job. If you passed the last, you gain a lot of points."
Tian Qi added, "Now here is a tip. Stay close to yourselves, because otherwise you will not make it in the academy."
The portal glowed and pulled all of them into it, and they found themselves in a massive cafeteria. Many students looked at them, realizing they were the new students. Kai noticed more portals appearing, summoning more teachers and students.
Kai smiled, realizing he was finally, finally in the place he always wished to be in.
Academy.
Kai left the cafeteria and looked at it from the outside. They were inside a massive barrier that Kai could not see the end of.
He was inside a dome, which meant the cafeteria was at least 3 floors. He deduced they could be for the second and third years.
Kai moved and explored, finding the living quarters: many apartments arranged in clean lines, one next to another. This was only in the area he was allowed to see.
He went to his room and found two bunk beds, meaning he would have to share the room with four people.
He placed his bags down and then left. He picked the top left bunk bed, and as he left, he saw Nova followed by Luca, both looking at their IDs as they stopped in front of the same room Kai left.
Kai was roommates with the people he took the test with.
So it was Elena, Nova, Luca.
Kai ignored them as he went out and sat on a bench overlooking a small fountain, but it became crowded, so he went to the rooftop of the apartments. Standing above it, he saw people walking below.
He looked at the ground and remembered just a month ago when he was looking down. But now, with newly aflame emotions and goals, he wanted to be strong.
In fact, he wanted to be the strongest, so no one would ever look down on him. He wanted to embark on a path of power, though he also knew it would be painful. He did not care. He wanted that strength. He wanted to no longer feel like he was always being looked down upon.
Kai looked at the so-called disciple card in his hands and flipped it, showing a timetable of classes he could pick for each day, or multiple classes per day. It was fully customizable.
So he picked: Sword Arts, Katana Arts, Martial Arts, Mana Manipulation, Magic Study.
All on different days of the week.
He looked down and saw his daily task shining with a blinking green. It had been like that ever since he finished it, so he clicked the rewards and opened the shop.
[Equipment]
[Weapons] [Armor] [Magic Tools] [Enhancement Tools]
Kai picked weapons and saw two things that caught his eye, both expensive as hell.
[Runic Short Sword]
A sword imbued with the runes of devouring, able to devour spells or magic thrown at it, then release it later or heal the host.
[1000 EXP]
The sword alone would drop him a level. He was at level 11, but he did not mind as he bought it.
And he bought another weapon, a katana with barely anything on it, also costing a level.
Both were heaven grade weapons.
Then he looked at the techniques, worried. Both the katana and sword were strapped to his back cleanly, the sword already glowing with runes as Kai had placed some mana into it.
[Devouring Rune Sword]
[Heaven Grade Weapon]
A sword made to devour magic and spells.
[Current spells: N/A]
[Current mana stored: 100]
[Crescent Moon Katana]
[Heaven Grade Weapon]
A blade curved like the crescent moon, a powerful weapon increasing any katana battle art while it is used by 2.5 percent.
Another skill he wanted to buy was simply called [Item Box], but it showed no more info.
