As the door to his office shut, signaling the last person leaving, Enzo turned toward Arabella. Without hesitation, he pulled Arabella onto his lap as he inhaled her scent, finding comfort in her presence while holding her closer to himself.
For a moment, the weight of being king disappeared. The endless politics, court games, responsibilities, and enemies waiting in the shadows no longer mattered. All that mattered was the woman in his arms.
Arabella melted into his dark embrace.
"I just wish we could stay like this forever, away from politics, court games, and responsibilities," Arabella said quietly.
Enzo simply hummed in agreement without saying anything. Deep down, he wished for the same thing. A peaceful moment where he could forget the crown and just exist with the woman he loved.
After a while, Arabella spoke again.
"Do you really think your brother is behind this whole mess?" Arabella asked as she clutched the king's shirt, relaxing against his neck.
