Sophia was in her room pacing around, unable to shake off what Lucien had told her. His words kept replaying in her mind no matter how hard she tried to push them away.
She wanted to go to Arabella because she knew Arabella would be alone right now, especially with Enzo and Lucien leaving the citadel, but Sophia wasn't a fool either. She had seen the number of guards stationed outside the King's quarters, enough to know that Arabella was well protected, so she decided to leave the visit until nighttime.
That decision did little to calm her heart.
She still couldn't stop thinking about Lucien and what he had told her before leaving. The fact that he had gone without giving her any proper explanation was bothering her more than she wanted to admit, and even though she had been angry with him, she couldn't stop herself from worrying about him.
