Linda moved to attack Elara, but Arabella's voice stopped her in her tracks.
"Linda, stand down. I will deal with her myself," she said.
Linda stopped immediately, though her hands remained tightly wrapped around the hilt of her sword. She looked at Arabella for a moment before stepping back, allowing her to handle Elara herself.
Arabella, however, turned away from Elara and went back to talking to Enzo.
"Midnight, can you hear me? Lyra is in trouble. You have to wake Enzo up, please," Arabella said as she turned toward Enzo, who was still covered in the strange light.
But he did not move.
She could hear every word Elara was saying behind her, but she did not care. All she wanted was for Enzo to wake up. She kept looking at him, waiting for his eyes to open or for him to give her any sign that he could hear her.
Nothing happened.
After a while, she knew Enzo could not wake up again.
Maybe he was truly dead.
