"Okay lets compromise. I will go all out this is non-negotiable. However I will give them a minute we're I will do nothing but defend. That way the battle isn't over instantly. I'll also try not to take all the pillars in one shot. No promises on that one though."
My tone left no room for argument. She honestly couldn't do anything. there was also a more than 90% chance people would just forfeit ice pillars break after my match anyway. Then I guess the rest would compete for 2nd and 3rd place. Ughh this is frustrating. All these people are weak. Well I'll probably be called back to the Yotsuba village after scorched Halloween incident anyway. Mother said something about wanting to talk to me about the Dragon Guards. Ugghhh if monolith code didn't force everyone to have teams of three I'd solo the event.
I was broken out of my thoughts by Mayumi sighing.
"Fine… I know I can't stop you anyway. Besides if I tried or refused you would just win immediately instead."

"Eh, worse comes to worse they all forfeit and have a losers tournament amongst themselves."
She did not look amused. Part of the nine schools competition existing is to show off promising individuals after all.

And with that I left the tent and went to the athletes locker room. They made a weird exception for me and Kuro because no one besides Tatsuya and Sakura could find figure out how to adjust our CADs Sakura was begged to be an engineer by the Mayumi. This was because Tatsuya already had too many athletes to handle. So she agreed as long as it was only for Kuro and I only.
"Alrighty Ryu-chan~, your CAD is adjusted. I loaded those spells based on those people from my world as well. Although the spells based on them are nowhere near as powerful as their namesakes."
"Thanks Sakura. I didn't tell Mayumi I wasn't using the magic I was known for. So I told her I'd just defend for the first minute so she'd stop begging me to hold back."
"Ryu… you do realize you could've just told her that right?"
I suddenly felt incredibly stupid.
"You were so busy being excited to do something you didn't think did you."
She sighed
"Go… I'll call Mayumi don't bother defending. It's not going to be as one sided as you using your weird dragon magic."
As I reached the arena I could faintly hear Sakura talking to Mayumi on the phone. I feel really stupid about that, oh well. I checked my device before entering to see who my opponent was
"So my opponent is Kaito Mikazuki from second high?"
Some no name from the 18 assitant houses affiliated with the Mitsuya. So I should watch out for multi casting.
The men's ice pillars break event was never shown or discussed in the novel it existed in a passing mention and that's all we know.
Unlike women's ice pillars break most men did not dress up. It was allowed just men tended to not. I was already going to win so I decided fuck it why not. Farm some aura as it were. I was wearing a black military dress uniform with red accents. I had a cloak over my right arm with the symbol of the Yotsuba on it. Show that old fool Retsu where I stand as well. I am Yotsuba first, and a soldier of this country second. Some might wonder why I care so much and the answer is quite simple honestly. It is better to be valued by the winners than the losers. Even after all the complaining and fear of maya in the original story. Tatsuya and Miyuki were still Yotsuba and they won. The Yotsuba under Tatsuya's management flourished. He didn't take the name nor did Miyuki, but that did not change the family. Nor, the blood in their veins.
Even though I plan to take the family both wouldn't blame me if I don't bother them. I will put Tatsuya in charge of some family businesses though.
I walked out onto the arena. The cheering crowd was deafening. I'm glad I've been through war zones otherwise that cheer would've stunned my senses for a second. I saw my opponent approaching his raised platform I made my way over to mine.
There were no introduction between competitors. Our names and our remaining pillars were on the screen.
Mikazuki started rapidly typining into a bracket type CAD. I decided to see if I can read spell sequences like Tatsuya. Now that I have elemental sight. I gazed at his spell and…
*sigh* fuck I'm gonna have to ask Sakura to teach me coding. I can roughly guess what spell type but not the spell itself with elemental sight. I could tell 2 different oscillation type spells were being employed. One to rapidly heat my pillars then cool them down rapidly to cause them to explode. Like what Miyuki did with the Nifilhiem and Inferno combo. However, he wasn't targeting all my pillars like she did with large scale magic, just the front row.
"Okay so that's how you want to play it."
I began typing rapidly to cast the new sustained Bombardment type spell. Sakura made it in honor of a certain Golden twink.
Around 40 golden ripples formed in the air behind me. The audience was suprised after all this is a new spell. However anyone but a strategic class mage would be able to cast it. Not that it's strategic class in itself it just is hard to cast like one. But I guess considering it's sustainable nature could make it be considered strategic. As my first row of pillars explode from the rapid temperature changes. The portals began rapidly firing golden beams of light. A sound resounded in the arena could be mistaken for a coordinated artillery bombardment. Sadly the projectiles couldn't be weapon shaped. Doing that would add an entire dimension of complexity and difficulty to cast.
When the smoke cleared his pillars were shattered. And he was on his knees in disbelief. I just smiled did a flourish of the cloak. Turned and left the arena. As I reached the hall a thunderous cheer erupted from the crowd.

Realizing combative and competitive like scenes are hard when one side grossly overpowers the Last scheduled mahouka chapter for two weeks. Doesn't mean they won't happen just means they come when I have inspiration or time. My other two fics probably won't have this luxury because not as popular by what I'm seeing and I only have so much time and energy, but hey I'm sticking with it's not like I'm doing this for money.
