Honestly I have no idea why I expected any different. One moment I'm with my friends at bar convincing me to ask a girl out. The next I'm thrown into Tokyo bay because said girl's boyfriend is yakuza.' I thought
'My so called friends ran away at the sight of the guy… bastards. Why me I'm just a poor college student otaku who won a trip to Tokyo with up to 3 extras tickets. A guy who thought that luck was finally shining upon him, but no not even a day and now I'm being drowned.' I was tired and just stopped resisting. I had no way to survive this after all. Of course this doesn't mean my death was painless by any regard. Drowning was up there with being burnt alive as one of the most painful ways to die.
'Well if reincarnation is a thing. I hope my life won't be as shitty.' I though oddly calm despite being in excruciating pain. My thoughts blurring and eventually everything faded into darkness.
"Huh? where the hell am I!" I exclaimed shocked as I was in a pitch black void with some dude(?) who looked like the Truth from FMA
"Welcome and congratulations Clark Weissman. You are exactly the 100,000th person to die" ROB who looked like truth from FMA
"Okay…? Why congratulations?" I said very confused I was an aetheist. I didn't believe in any higher powers. Not because I hated religion or anything. I just never saw proof.
"Oh right, I forget you humans tend to not truly understand how dying and gods work, such a naive and stupid species." Said the ROB
I was offended by that but decided not to comment.
"So here's the thing. Normally I'd just chuck you to your perceived afterlife if you were religious, or into the void of entropic chaos for your soul to be obliterated if you weren't. However, we are instead going to do this. So pay attention. Every 10 years on this day of year we, the gods of the collective multiverse, select the 100,000th person who has just died. On the most mundane, boring version of earth in all the multiverse to reincarnate to a random new universe." He explained
"Uhhhh. Okay." I said completely panicking I was about to be isekai'd. I mean every otaku has fantasied about it atleast once. But considering it was actually happening to him and the sheer number of fucked up universe that exist in the multiverse like 40k, Berserk, or name a hoyoverse game universe. Also considering it was random, fuuuuccckkk.
"So without further a do we will spin the wheels!" he said clearly excited by his tone of voice.
"Each of these wheels will determine your new life. The first will determine the world you end up in. The second will determine what power you will gain. This could be any power in the known universe, baring actual god stuff. So nothing like The End, All Fiction or Epilogue.
'Understandable All Fiction allowed its user to just decide something didn't exist and it ceased to. The End allowed its user to copy anything it's seen and use it to 120% of its original user. An absolute cheat code. Epilogue is the most busted ability in the entire multi-, no omniverse. Epilogue ends whatever the user wants no matter what. It is unstoppable, unsealable, unstealble, and no one is immune to it. So it was reasonable those powers were not available.
Finally the last wheel will determine your early life, or starting point. Oh and side note that may or may not be Irrelevant depending on which world you end up in. You will keep your past life memories." he explained further
Well I guess we're doing this. I sighed internally. Not that I'm complaining… yet. I walked up to the world wheel and gave it a spin. There where many world listed Bleach, Fairytail, DBZ, Berserk, 40k, GGZ, and… Dragons Rioting of all things, but eventually the wheel slowed landed on Mahouka. I breathed a sigh of relief because the one below it was "The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Hell no, I would not want to exist in a world where the main character can destroy a universe with less than 1% of his power. Considering that if he used 1% he'd obliterate his entire world just by existing, screw that.
"Mahouka huh, well not the worst world you could've ended up in. Its kind of a middle ground. I mean sure lots of bad stuff like war and stuff, but no eldritch world ending abominations, or those 4 insane chaotic jackasses who claim to be gods. Plus you get to live in the future, relative to when you died on earth, so silver lining. Welp anyway spin the next wheel." The ROB explained which I'm just gonna call him by god because ROB sounds weird. Also I honestly just don't know his name, and he admitted to being a god earlier.
"Uh, real quick before I spin the next wheel. Where did the last guy who got reincarnated end up?" I asked curious but also scared of the answer.
"He died on arrival. I don't know how, but he some how ended up in some weird GGZx40K hybrid AU universe. It was bad his soul was obliterated on entry." the god said in a voice that sounded like legitimate pity for the poor guy.
My eyes went wide in terror. That is a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone ever.
"Anyway spin the power wheel. Oh, and note because Mahouka magic related abilities will be at higher rate of selection." the god explained
I walked up to the wheel knowing I dodged bullet of exsistential levels of fucked up. I then gave it a spin. There were many many powers on the wheel like unlimited mana. Which I guess would be converted to psions given how mahouka works. The wheel slowly came to a stop and my eyes widened in shock at what I landed on, because even I knew how stupid this power was. Arcane Dragon Slayer Magic (No Dragon Seed, magic immunity reduced to highly resistant instead). The same magic used by Acnologia. The big bad of the first fairytail series. Although the name of his magic wasn't revealed until the sequel the 100 year quest. The villain who only lost because plot, just like madara. He couldn't lose because by definition he was immune to all magic and could eat all magic. He should've been completely and utterly invincible. Well it seems my version has a draw backs due no dragon seed.
"Wow… okay, so that's lucky considering where your going. Even with the adjustments. Unless some one hits you by surprise with magic. It's not going to do shit because you can eat it. And even if they do hit you, your still probably not taking much damage. Though if it's Godsuya's Mist Dispersion spell or me forbid his Material Burst spell. Your probably fucked if not near death, if your extremely lucky. Though you'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to end up in that situation." said the god mildly surprised
I nodded in agreement. I was also surprised that the god referred to the mc as the nickname given by fans.
"Uh, so would my Dragon Slayer Magic count as ancient magic in this worlds lore?" I asked
"Hm? Nah, I mean it's not the systematic math magic for rewriting reality, but its gonna be considered inherent magic as it will be unique to you. He said as if my question was dumb, which admittedly it was.
"Alright enough let's get this show on the road. The last wheel is influenced by the world selected by the way, if that wasn't obvious." He said gesturing to the last wheel.
I sighed agreeing with him. I walked up and spun the last wheel. As it slowed I saw it almost hit poor war orphan, but what it landed on could arguably be much worse. I stared at the result adopted son of Maya Yotsuba.
"Wow, so that could be either really good, or really really bad." Commented the god
I just nodded my brain(?) was having an error 404 moment.
"Welp time for me to send you on your way. Oh wait, actually before I do and I actually have to do this. After one of the guys we reincarnated went mad with power and became a serial rapist in Naruto. Ehem, forget canon. Your existence already changes everything. Some events will happen, but they may play out completely differently. Some events may not happen at all. You are a rock I'm throwing into a pond. Things will begin to and already will have changed. These are no longer charcters in a story. They are people now they have emotions… except Godsuya, but he's an exception unless it involves his sister. However, I digress. So I'll send you on your way. Have fun and enjoy your life, because after this one you go to the after life or soul obliteration, no reincarnation. Byeeee!!" he said as my vision once again slowly faded to darkness.
Authors notes: hey I'm new to writing fanfics and wanted to try my hand at it don't have an update schedule as of yet gonna try to do atleast once a week but college is a bitch if people have any suggestions on how to improve my writing please let me know also I do plan to try and have romance (note never been in a relationship so that's why I said try) this will not be harem but it will probably be Maiyumi.
Edit I changed it from ancient to inherent magic as I forgot that was a thing and it made mores sense when I remembered it
