Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Determination

The reason for saying all this was simply to cover all bases, just in case.

"By the way, Kakashi-sensei, what do you think? Is this okay with me doing it like this?"

After confirming everything with the manager, Furina finally turned her head to look at Kakashi, who had been silently watching from the side the whole time.

Although she didn't think he would refuse, since the mission was being carried out by the two of them together, asking for his opinion was the most basic form of respect.

"Of course. If there was a problem, I would've interrupted you earlier. I have no objections to this. Just go ahead and do it your way."

Seeing that she was asking him, Kakashi gave his answer. Just as Furina had expected, Kakashi didn't refuse.

There wasn't any special reason it was pretty much the same as the mission in the Land of Waves. Since Furina wanted to do it this way, then that was fine.

He didn't want to forcibly bring the cold realities of the adult world to his student. Saying things like "making her adapt to reality early" was just an excuse for one's own lack of ability.

Besides, with Furina's current strength, she was already more than capable of acting according to her own wishes. In that case, it was no big deal for him to go along and make a fuss with her.

After receiving Kakashi's affirmative response, the smile on Furina's face became even more obvious. As expected, Kakashi-sensei understood her best no need for too much explanation.

"But speaking of which, you still haven't convinced your princess yet. If she herself doesn't want to do this, are you really going to force her onto the throne?"

"Of course not. Previously, the princess only refused to return to the Land of Snow because she didn't want to drag others into this. Now that she has help from you and Mr. Kakashi, I'm sure the princess will pull herself together..."

The manager didn't dare slack off on Furina's question and quickly explained with all sorts of appropriate reasons. In summary, it boiled down to one sentence: the princess definitely had no issues.

"That's something for you to handle."

Furina gave a light laugh at his words, said nothing more, and turned to head back to rest. But as soon as she stepped out the door, she saw Fujikaze Yukie standing right beside it, leading to a moment of wide-eyed staring between them.

"Yo, sneaking around eavesdropping outside? Come in already. You should know you're the real star of this show."

Now that the main person had appeared, Furina simply didn't leave. She pulled the other inside the room. Rather than dragging things out with all sorts of back-and-forth later, it was better to clear everything up right now.

"Princess Koyuki, you're here. Just now, I finished discussing with these two ninja lords. They're willing to help you reclaim the throne."

"Are you sure you want to do this? My uncle Kazahana Doto is powerful and ruthless. Opposing him could very well get you killed."

Fujikaze Yukie ignored the manager who had come to her side to explain the situation and kept her eyes fixed on Furina, who was holding her arm. She had heard the entire conversation clearly from outside no need for extra introductions.

"Of course. Since we've accepted the mission, we'll naturally complete it properly. As for danger? I don't think those 'ninja' who rely on armor are all that strong.

Unless your uncle is some powerhouse on par with the Kage of the major ninja villages, otherwise, in my eyes, he's just so-so. If he really had that kind of strength, he would've made a name for himself in the ninja world long ago. How could he still be some nobody?"

"Then I leave it to you. If I really can return to the throne, I will thank you properly and thank Konoha as well."

After confirming once more, the last trace of worry in Fujikaze Yukie's heart finally vanished.

Her previous resistance to returning to the Land of Snow wasn't because she had truly given up on reclaiming the throne. It was only because of her uncle's overwhelming strength she didn't want the people helping her to die in vain because of her.

That was why she had kept running away and even became an actress to cover her tracks.

But things were different now. After seeing Furina casually take out two of her uncle's capable subordinates, Fujikaze Yukie knew the other absolutely had the ability to help her.

To help her defeat Kazahana Doto and save the Land of Snow.

Compared to that, the other's demand was just a bit more money nothing at all.

Her many years as an actress had already accumulated a considerable sum for her. Using it as thanks would more than suffice.

"Then it's settled."

Furina hadn't expected Fujikaze Yukie to change her mind so straightforwardly. Back in Konoha, she had been acting like she was ready to die rather than return to the Land of Snow, and in the end, Kakashi had to use genjutsu to handle it.

But this was better. Much simpler than arguing for ages and then running into some kind of trouble.

...

Just as its name suggested, from the moment they entered the Land of Snow, the impression it gave was endless accumulated snow. As far as the eye could see, everything was white.

It might work as an adventure tourism spot, but living here long-term... emm, it could only be said that this place really wasn't suitable for habitation.

The former king of the Land of Snow really was talented. From what they said, he had actually managed to develop this kind of place quite well no idea how he pulled that off.

And the people here also confirmed that what the manager had said earlier wasn't false. Kazahana Doto really was a monstrous figure. Under his rule, life here wasn't just going from bad to worse it was far beyond that.

The only slight surprise was that they had already been in the Land of Snow for some time, yet they still hadn't encountered any attacks.

Even if Kazahana Doto was incompetent, he couldn't possibly still be unaware of their arrival by now. The most plausible explanation was probably that the two she had killed earlier had put him on alert, and he was holding back for something big.

But after thinking of this, Furina didn't feel much worry. If it made him cautious, that meant those two small-fry were already considered capable hands on Kazahana Doto 's side. Otherwise, killing two minions wouldn't make him this careful.

By that logic, there probably weren't many much stronger people on the other side either. This was the norm for many small countries a few not-very-impressive ninja could lord it over the place like local tyrants.

The things worth extra caution were probably traps the other side might use, or hiring outside help.

For example, if the other side had connections and paid to bring in Kakuzu for help, and Hidan tagged along too then it would definitely turn into a tough battle.

But that was just speculation. Kakuzu was a missing-nin with unpredictable whereabouts. The chances of contacting him in such a short time weren't high. Knowing about the possibility was enough.

As for other threats, Furina couldn't think of anyone who posed a major danger for now, so she simply stopped thinking about it. In any case, meet soldiers with generals, meet water with earth.

After learning that the two snow ninja she had killed earlier were already Kazahana Doto's capable subordinates, this trip no longer held much danger in Furina's mind. After all, with a flying dragon riding face, how could she possibly lose, right?
