Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Conversation

"Is this method really feasible?" Roxy Migurdia listened to Dan Feng's explanation and felt it wasn't very practical.

"You can try it yourself when you have time. Once you truly understand that level of meaning, you can use magic without chanting. Besides, I find chanting extremely troublesome—if there's danger, it could expose your position."

"Thank you for the guidance."

"You're working right now, aren't you? Let me help you." Dan Feng said enthusiastically. In the past, when he had free time, he used to help the landlady like this. After all, he ate her food and lived under her roof for free, so the least he could do was lend a hand.

"No, no, I can handle it myself." Roxy Migurdia quickly waved her hands to refuse, feeling a bit embarrassed at the thought of making Dan Feng help her.

"It's fine—this way it'll be faster."

Time passed amid the busy atmosphere. After the adventurers had eaten and drunk their fill, they staggered off toward their lodgings with unsteady, indiscriminate steps.

The landlady wouldn't let Roxy Migurdia and the others handle the subsequent cleaning, so she had them sit to the side.

"Why hasn't Galdaruf come back yet? It's almost midnight." Mayibeia lay slumped on the table, speaking in a depressed tone. Galdaruf had already been gone all day.

"He's stayed overnight in the forest before. Maybe the area around that new labyrinth is particularly troublesome." Dan Feng comforted Mayibeia like this. Over these two years, he had figured it out—Mayibeia liked Galdaruf; she just wouldn't confess. As for Galdaruf's side, he had no idea.

Galdaruf had an introverted personality and wasn't good at expressing himself.

If not for taking requests together and learning magic, he probably never would have initiated conversation with Dan Feng—much less with someone like Dan Feng, who was equally aloof toward strangers. (Children were an exception.)

Normally, when he felt bored, he would quietly continue practicing magic. He was an extremely diligent and steady mage.

"Uh, who's Galdaruf?" The innocent and naive Roxy Migurdia suddenly asked in confusion.

This question instantly excited Mayibeia beside her. Like opening a floodgate, she began chattering nonstop about everything related to Galdaruf.

Roxy Migurdia quietly listened to Mayibeia's lengthy monologue, but as time went on, her head began to feel dizzy.

Finally, she couldn't hold back and interrupted Mayibeia: "Stop, stop, stop—don't say anymore. I already know you like him."

Mayibeia was clearly surprised. She hadn't expected Roxy Migurdia, after only meeting her on the first day, to deduce her feelings for Galdaruf just from her words.

"Eh? Eh? Is it that obvious?" Mayibeia couldn't help asking.

Roxy Migurdia smiled and nodded, explaining: "It's very obvious. Miss Mayibeia, practically every three sentences you say are filled with admiration for Galdaruf."

"And Miss Mayibeia likes him so much—why don't you just confess? Then get married, have kids, and all that." Roxy Migurdia asked in confusion, genuinely unable to understand the mindset of someone who clearly liked him but refused to confess.

For Roxy Migurdia, bravely pursuing one's love was something she would do. As long as she was certain she truly liked someone, she would go after them without hesitation.

However, with her meager figure and petite body, finding true love was very difficult.

Thinking of this, Roxy Migurdia couldn't help showing a sad expression.

At 24 years old, she had absolutely no experience in that area—she had only heard other adventurers' love stories back on the Demon Continent.

As she thought about it, Roxy Migurdia recalled some unpleasant memories from a few years ago—the ones that led to the complete disbandment of her entire adventuring party.

"This... I'm waiting for Galdaruf to come around on his own." Mayibeia said embarrassedly. In truth, she simply didn't dare—afraid that confessing would cause Galdaruf to distance himself from her.

"I see... okay then." Roxy Migurdia didn't press the matter further. Everyone had different views and different ways of handling emotions.

Seeing that their conversation had ended, Dan Feng also had something he wanted to ask Roxy Migurdia.

"Roxy, you're a mage, right? What level of mage are you?" Dan Feng asked curiously.

"Me? I'm just an Advanced-rank mage. Other than healing magic and divine strike magic, I can use all other magic up to Advanced rank." Roxy Migurdia answered. She didn't think Advanced rank was particularly impressive—against a mid-rank swordsman, she might not even win.

"That's already very impressive."

"Thank you for the compliment." Roxy Migurdia's lips curved up slightly. She calmly picked up her water cup and took a sip, thinking to herself: "Roxy, what are you so happy about?!"

"Do you have any plans for the future?" Dan Feng looked at Roxy Migurdia. He knew he couldn't stay here forever, so he wanted to hear her plans and use them as a reference for his own.

"I want to see the outside world that my teacher spoke of. Since I've already come to Millishion, and my teacher said this is the most beautiful city in the world." Roxy Migurdia recalled Bloody Kant's words, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

As a child, Roxy Migurdia had been filled with curiosity and longing for the outside world—especially when she heard Bloody Kant describe the city of Millishion, her yearning grew even stronger.

Ordinary Migurd race members spent their entire lives in the village, never leaving except when absolutely necessary. But Roxy Migurdia was an exception—she hated that eerily quiet village.

"So it's the most beautiful city... Teacher! I want to go see Millishion someday too." The young Roxy Migurdia's water-blue eyes were filled with anticipation for the future.

However, Bloody Kant simply sat beside little Roxy Migurdia and slowly said: "Millishion? Yes, it's indeed the most beautiful city. But for little Roxy, that place might not be a good one."

Little Roxy Migurdia blinked in confusion and asked: "Eh? Why do you say that, Teacher?" She truly didn't understand the meaning behind Bloody Kant's words.

Bloody Kant merely smiled faintly and didn't directly answer little Roxy Migurdia's question. Instead, she looked at the gradually extinguishing candle flame and softly said: "Alright, time for bed, little Roxy. We have magic lessons tomorrow."

Though little Roxy Migurdia still had questions in her heart, she didn't press further. She obediently nodded and said: "Mm!" Then lay down, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

Now grown up, Roxy Migurdia had finally arrived in Millishion and understood the deeper meaning behind Bloody Kant's words back then.

The city of Millishion harbored severe racial discrimination, with deep rejection and prejudice toward demons.

"Teacher, I will definitely witness the outside world you spoke of!" That was currently Roxy Migurdia's dream.
