While pondering which version of himself was the real one, Dan Feng's peripheral vision caught a patch of moonlight ahead being partially obscured by shadow.

"Hm? Strange, is there something over there?" Dan Feng looked ahead in confusion.

That shadowy area was drawing closer and closer to their ship. Under the moonlight, Dan Feng vaguely made out… tentacles.

"Tentacles? That couldn't be an octopus, could it?!" Dan Feng stared in shock at the shadow before him: a massive, bloated head and countless writhing tentacles. It was unmistakably a gigantic octopus.

"There's a monster!" Dan Feng shouted gravely toward the crew at the stern.

The crew member on duty heard Dan Feng's shout and felt his heart tighten. He immediately dropped what he was doing and rushed over like a gust of wind, asking anxiously, "What? Where's the monster?"

Dan Feng pointed to the starboard side. Following his direction, the crew member saw a colossal octopus slowly approaching the ship.

Its body was enormous, with eight thick tentacles thrashing through the water.

"Damn it!" The crew member couldn't help cursing under his breath as cold sweat beaded on his forehead.

He immediately turned and shouted to the other crew members: "Hoist the sails! Full speed ahead!"

The crew sprang into action at the command.

Some who had been fast asleep were jolted awake by the sudden shouting and hurriedly ran toward the furled sails.

With everyone working together, the sails were quickly unfurled. The sea wind filled them completely, and the ship began to accelerate forward.

However, the gigantic octopus clearly had no intention of letting them escape so easily.

It followed the ship closely, its eight tentacles constantly whipping around, trying to latch onto the hull.

The passengers on board were roused by the commotion and poured out onto the deck, staring in terror at the horrifying octopus.

Their screams and gasps rose one after another, making the already tense atmosphere even heavier.

"Ah, no way—monster! It's a monster! A sea monster!" one passenger cried out in panic.

It was common knowledge that sea monsters were far stronger than land monsters—by more than just a little. Sea monsters were generally enormous in size. If you got caught by one, you had better prepare for death.

After all, out at sea you could only rely on the ship, but a ship's speed was always limited. If the monster was fast, you were finished.

"Is there a magician? Hurry up and drive it off! I don't want to die yet!"

"I'm a magician! Let me handle it!" A passenger stepped forward holding a staff and began chanting on the deck.

The magic he released was just a simple Great Fireball, but it still gave the passengers hope.

The fireball slowly drifted toward the advancing octopus, illuminating the area around it.

It also allowed everyone to clearly see the octopus's appearance.

Its entire body was dark blue, with circles on its skin that flickered with blue light.

The fireball struck the octopus, but it caused almost no damage. Instead, it enraged the creature, making it move even faster.

"No effect? How is that possible?" The magician began to question his entire existence.

Of course, Roxy Migurdia had also been woken by the noise. Holding her staff, she stepped out of the cabin and quickly came to Dan Feng's side.

"What's going on?" Roxy Migurdia asked in confusion while looking at the noisy crowd, then turned her gaze to Dan Feng.

"There's a monster." Dan Feng said quickly, then looked at Roxy Migurdia.

Their eyes met.

"I'll use wind magic to whip up the seawater. You use ice magic to freeze it."

"Got it!" Roxy Migurdia stared at the distant octopus with a grave expression.

Then Dan Feng began gathering mana in his hands. He was preparing to use magic in an unconventional way.

His chantless magic allowed him to cast spells without incantations—meaning he could manipulate the elements directly.

Around the octopus, a sudden fierce wind erupted. The gale grew stronger and stronger until it formed a small tornado.

This tornado was astonishingly powerful. Wherever it passed, the seawater was churned into violent waves that crashed relentlessly against the ship's hull.

However, this vessel had clearly been built with very high-quality magic wood, making it exceptionally sturdy. No matter how fiercely the waves battered it, the ship remained steady as a mountain, showing not the slightest sign of instability.

At the same time, the small tornado lifted massive amounts of seawater, forming an enormous waterspout that completely enveloped the octopus.

"Roxy! Now!" Dan Feng shouted urgently upon seeing this.

Roxy Migurdia understood immediately. Her eyes locked onto the waterspout as she shouted delicately: "Got it! Ice Lance Blizzard!"

As soon as the words left her mouth, the numerous ice spears that had already formed beside her shot out like bullets at incredible speed, streaking straight toward the waterspout.

Dan Feng continued channeling wind magic, endlessly supporting Roxy Migurdia and amplifying the power of her ice spears while expanding the range of the freezing effect.

The instant Ice Lance Blizzard made contact with the waterspout, a series of sharp "crack crack" sounds rang out. In the blink of an eye, the entire waterspout had frozen solid into a gigantic ice sculpture.

At that moment, the wind seemed to lose all strength and suddenly stopped. The seawater gradually calmed and ceased its violent motion.

Around the octopus, only a frozen expanse remained—as if time itself had been halted in that spot.

"This…" The crowd stared blankly at the scene before them, utterly awed by the powerful magic.

They were finally safe.

The crew members also stared dumbfounded at the massive ice sculpture before resuming their work with the sails, trying to make the ship move even faster.

Only after the ship had left that area did the crowd turn their gazes toward Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia, who had just cast the magic.

However, the moment the crew witnessed this astonishing feat, they immediately began dispersing the gathered crowd without hesitation.

"Everyone, don't crowd in one place! If the ship capsizes later, the consequences will be unthinkable!"

Hearing the crew's shouts, people quickly returned to their proper positions.

The previously chaotic deck became orderly again, and the passengers' tension eased slightly.

Standing to the side, Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia watched this scene, and the heavy stone in their hearts finally settled.

They secretly felt relieved. Fortunately, they had managed to freeze that ferocious octopus in time; otherwise, the consequences could have been truly disastrous.

At that moment, a voice suddenly spoke up: "Thank you both for stepping in to help!"

Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia followed the sound and saw that it was the captain of the ship.

He looked at them with deep gratitude, sincerity shining in his eyes.

Dan Feng replied expressionlessly, "We did it mainly for our own safety."

"Even so, your timely assistance truly saved us. No matter what, I must offer you my heartfelt thanks."

"It was nothing more than a small effort."

Then Dan Feng suddenly remembered something important—something he had seen in videos in his previous life: octopuses were extremely intelligent.

So he reminded the captain: "When you reach the eastern port, remember to hire some powerful magicians to board the ship on your return trip. Octopuses are very smart; it might ambush you again on the way back."

The captain listened solemnly and nodded, promising to keep Dan Feng's advice firmly in mind.

Afterward, Dan Feng took Roxy Migurdia and returned to their cabin.
