Chapter 67 - Chapter 67: Enrollment Test (Part 1)

Dan Feng and Roxy followed the principal into a very vast building.

"This is our school's magic practice field. No need to worry about injuries— the ground is engraved with Saint-rank healing magic circles. Even severed limbs can be reattached instantly." The principal said as he walked with a hunched posture.

Dan Feng observed the surroundings as he walked, his heart filled with shock.

It was said that Saint-rank healing magic could reattach severed hands or feet right after they were cut off, restoring them as if they had never been injured.

Of course, even more powerful than Saint-rank was King-rank healing magic, which was rumored to achieve miracles like regenerating lost limbs—something impossible in his previous life.

Not long after, the principal suddenly stopped.

Seeing this, Dan Feng and Roxy also halted their steps in unison.

"Next, I will conduct the special student enrollment test for you two to see if you meet the standards." The principal said softly with a smile, looking at the two before him with eyes full of kindness.

Dan Feng's heart stirred. Curious about the principal's strength, he asked, "May I ask what rank of magician you are?"

The principal gave a faint smile and replied slowly, "I am an Earth King-rank magician. I will be in charge of this test, but rest assured—there will absolutely be no risk to your lives during the process."

Dan Feng and Roxy exchanged a glance.

Seeing this, the principal turned his gaze to the two and asked gently, "So, who would like to go first for the test?"

"I..." Dan Feng had just started to speak, intending to let Roxy go first so he could gather information about the principal's abilities, but Roxy beat him to it.

"I'll go first!" Roxy said, gripping her staff and stepping forward in front of the principal.

Dan Feng saw this and didn't say anything more. After all, this was just a test—the principal surely wouldn't shamelessly use King-rank magic, right?

"As expected of Bloody Kant's disciple. I'm really looking forward to your performance." The principal's words were filled with admiration, all of it praise for Roxy.

"Very well. Remember the rules: magic cannot be aimed at the opponent's head, and stop at contact—nothing more." The principal said to the two, then slowly backed away to create distance from Roxy.

Roxy also gripped her staff tightly and walked to a far distance.

Once the two had separated by a considerable gap, the enrollment test officially began.

The principal did not use a staff. Instead, he simply raised his hand and began chanting.

Roxy, on the other hand, raised her own staff and unleashed her strongest technique.

"[Ice Lance Blizzard]!"

Instantly, the magic stone at the tip of her staff began flashing with dazzling blue light, as if activated by Roxy's mana.

Around Roxy, the air seemed to freeze in an instant. Countless icy cones exuding cold air sprang up like bamboo shoots after rain.

These ice cones were crystal clear, numbering around twenty or so, and looked extremely sharp.

The moment they fully formed, with a thought from Roxy, the ice cones came to life—like arrows loosed from a bow—and shot toward the principal.

The ice cones moved at lightning speed, closing in on the principal in the blink of an eye.

Their speed was likely due to Roxy increasing the mana input during casting, modifying the base velocity of the ice cones.

Each one carried a fierce momentum.

Faced with this sudden barrage of ice cone attacks, even the principal couldn't help showing shock on his face.

However, he showed no panic at all. He slowly raised his wrinkled hand.

The instant the principal lifted his hand, a powerful surge of earth elemental force erupted around him.

This earth element rapidly converged, and in the blink of an eye, it formed a sturdy earth fortress that tightly enveloped the principal.

The ice cones slammed into the earth fortress like a violent storm, producing crisp impact sounds.

Each collision kicked up large amounts of dust, which spread through the air and formed a hazy gray fog.

When the dust gradually cleared, the principal stood unharmed in the same spot. Though the earth fortress was riddled with holes from the ice cone attacks, it still stood firm.

The principal stared at Roxy in utter shock, as if he had witnessed something heaven-defying, and muttered, "You didn't chant! You're using chantless water magic!?"

"Hm? Dan Feng and I both know chantless techniques. Didn't Teacher Bloody Kant mention it in the recommendation letter?" Roxy looked at the principal's exaggerated expression with confusion.

Normally, when writing a recommendation letter, one would list all the applicant's strengths in detail—yet Bloody Kant had not done so.

Her true intention was to let the principal of Ranoa Magic University personally experience the wonders of chantless techniques. That way, Roxy and Dan Feng could rightfully make demands of him.

"Bloody Kant did not mention this in the letter." The principal recalled the contents of the letter, shook his head, and looked puzzled.

"Ah? Really?" Roxy, standing nearby, was equally surprised. Since receiving the recommendation letter, neither she nor Dan Feng had ever opened it—so this was the first time they had seen its actual contents.

"If this technique could be mastered by magicians all over the world, then magicians would no longer have to fear swordsmen. Could it be that Bloody Kant has already learned this chantless technique?" The principal asked Roxy suspiciously.

Roxy quickly waved her hands and explained, "Teacher can only simplify chanting at best. She's still quite far from complete chantlessness."

"Our guess is that mastering chantless techniques probably requires extremely outstanding talent."

"I see—so it depends on talent?" The principal murmured thoughtfully, seeming to ponder something important.

Then, as if he had finally figured something out, vitality returned to his aged face. "Come on, let's finish your enrollment tests first."

After that, Roxy and the principal continued their magic duel. However, since Roxy was using chantless magic techniques, her casting speed was undoubtedly faster than the principal's.

This also meant that the principal's magic had a much longer wind-up than Roxy's, so without using Saint-rank or higher magic, he had no chance of winning at all.

"Congratulations, Roxy—you are now a special student of this school. Next up is Dan Feng." The principal turned his gaze to Dan Feng.

He had just heard from Roxy that this one also knew chantless techniques—he was another genius.

"Dan Feng, judging from your build, you don't seem like a magician. You look more like a warrior." The principal asked while staring at Dan Feng's physique.

"Yes, I am indeed a warrior, though I also know some basic magic." Dan Feng replied expressionlessly, his eyes calmer than ever.
