Chapter 146 - Chapter 146: Current Situation

Afterward, Brez continued telling Roxy a lot of bad things about Nokubara. During this time, he finally stopped choking on his tears. After listening, Roxy showed a thoughtful expression.

At that moment, Brez's gaze was suddenly drawn to Dan Feng, who had been silent beside them.

He stared at Dan Feng's face, but the moment their eyes met, an inexplicable sense of tension surged through him like a tide.

Brez couldn't help feeling puzzled—where exactly was this tension coming from?

He decided to ask Roxy directly: "By the way, Roxy, who is this?"

When Roxy heard Brez ask about Dan Feng, the corners of her mouth curved up into a sweet smile.

She answered in a gentle voice, "This is Dan Feng. He's my lover."

As soon as she finished speaking, Dan Feng spoke up unhurriedly: "Hello, my name is Dan Feng." His tone was flat and his expression unchanged—just a completely ordinary self-introduction.

Yet precisely because of this lack of fluctuation, it gave off an intangible pressure.

Brez clearly felt this pressure. At first he had felt some fear toward this somewhat oppressive-looking man, but when he learned that Dan Feng was Roxy's lover, that tension was instantly replaced by joy.

"Wow, Roxy, you found a lover! That's wonderful—congratulations!" Brez said excitedly, his voice filled with sincere well-wishes.

Having been teammates for so many years, he had seen Roxy's longing for a lover—a feeling full of anticipation and yearning.

However, reality had always been cruel. Due to the Migurd race's small stature and appearance being at a disadvantage in this world, most people showed no interest in Roxy.

Except for those with special fetishes—they might pay unusual attention to someone as unique as Roxy.

But that kind of attention was clearly not what Roxy wanted. What she desired was genuine love and respect.

Clearly, Dan Feng had given her true respect. He had never cared about Roxy's small build or childlike appearance.

"Thank you, Brez," Roxy said with a smile. "How have you been lately?"

Brez sighed, a bitter smile appearing on his face. "I'm living in Wind Port now."

His words carried helplessness and pain.

Ever since Drew's death, the bold words Brez had spoken when he left his tribe had now become something the tribe mocked him for.

What he couldn't bear even more was that the tribe not only ridiculed him but also insulted Drew along with it, causing him immense inner torment.

"You're living in Wind Port now?" Roxy asked with concern. "Then let's head back together first. It's already noon—everyone's hungry."

With that, Roxy unhesitatingly took Dan Feng's hand and walked toward the riding lizard.

...

"One more person? Then we'll have to add some money." The riding lizard driver said expressionlessly to Roxy and Dan Feng after seeing Brez.

Roxy showed no trace of dissatisfaction. She nodded and readily replied, "That's fine."

Then she quickly took out one green ore coin from her pocket and handed it to the driver without hesitation.

Brez felt a little embarrassed when he saw this. "Roxy, I actually still have some money myself."

"No problem," Dan Feng said calmly.

After receiving the money, a faint, barely noticeable smile appeared on the driver's face. He skillfully put the coin away and gestured for the three to board the lizard.

Once the three were on the riding lizard, Brez sat on the far left, Roxy on the far right, and Dan Feng was sandwiched between them.

The lizard then began crawling toward Wind Port. Along the way, Brez remained somewhat quiet, while Roxy was full of curiosity about what had happened to him earlier.

So she took the initiative to ask softly, "Brez, can you tell me exactly what happened?"

Hearing Roxy's question, an awkward look appeared on Brez's honest face, but he still answered truthfully: "Uh, actually it's nothing major—just the same group of people from when I was a kid."

As he spoke, Brez detailed everything that had happened.

Roxy listened and occasionally interjected with questions about certain details.

Although Dan Feng sitting beside them didn't speak, he was listening attentively to Brez's story.

When he heard how Brez had been bullied because he was alone, a wave of sympathy rose in Dan Feng's heart.

Because Dan Feng himself had experienced similar things in his previous life and deeply understood how it felt to be bullied.

However, unlike Brez, Dan Feng had a stronger mentality. Through his resilience and perseverance, he had ultimately gotten through that difficult period.

In the pleasant conversation, time passed quickly. Before they knew it, the riding lizard had arrived at Wind Port.

"Roxy, Dan Feng, come to my place. I'll make something good for you to eat," Brez said enthusiastically to the two.

Dan Feng and Roxy exchanged a glance, raised no objections, and unhesitatingly followed Brez to a relatively secluded area in Wind Port.

This place was right next to the sea, and the surroundings looked somewhat shabby—it was usually where the fishermen lived.

During the ride on the lizard, Brez had also revealed one piece of information: he had given up his life as an adventurer and come to Wind Port to become a fisherman instead.

Although this job might not be as dangerous as adventuring and paid less, at least it allowed him to maintain a basic livelihood.

When they entered Brez's small house, a faint fishy smell hit them.

However, this didn't affect Brez's enthusiasm. He quickly went into the kitchen and began busily preparing lunch.

Dan Feng and Roxy found seats in the living room. Roxy leaned back in the handmade chair and let out a soft sigh.

"Dan Feng, it looks like we'll have quite a few things to handle when we go to Rikarisu Town next," Roxy said slowly as she turned to look at Dan Feng sitting beside her.

Dan Feng nodded in agreement.

On this trip to Rikarisu Town, besides greeting Mayibeia's tribespeople on her behalf, they also needed to convey some important news.

For example, that Mayibeia was doing very well in the Holy Country of Millis, had gotten married, and was pregnant. Surely her tribespeople would be shocked by this news.

After that, they would also need to find Roxy's former teammate—the horse-faced demon named Nokubara—and confirm whether what Brez said was true.

Roxy truly couldn't believe that her old teammate would be so heartless. After all, on this Demon Continent, aside from her parents, the only ones left were the surviving members of her former adventurer party.

So she hoped all of them were doing well.
