Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Xuanwu's Golden Finger

Although Genbu Akimichi was a time traveler without the blessing of some all-powerful "system dad," he had his own little trump cards.

First and foremost, he had the advantage of prior knowledge. In his previous life, he had been a partial fan of Naruto, which gave him insight into the overall story trajectory.

Unfortunately, during his demanding postdoctoral studies, he only witnessed the resurrection of Uchiha Madara during the Fourth Great Ninja War. He never had the chance to dig deeper, nor did he ever learn the true identity of the masked Madara.

He had originally planned to finish the series after graduation—but instead, fate inexplicably threw him across time and space. Had he known this would happen, he would have definitely completed the series first. That, he considered, was one of the great regrets of his life.

Knowing the storyline, he also understood just how cruel and lethal this world could be. Especially the war closest to him—the Second Great Ninja War, which would erupt in Konoha thirty-five years later.

As a member of the Akimichi clan, there was no escaping his destiny. To survive, he had to train and strengthen himself diligently. He didn't seek fame or glory in the ninja world; he only sought to ensure his safe return.

Second, the Sharingan.

The Sharingan is a kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan, rooted in spiritual and mental strength.

By merging the soul of the original host with his own, Genbu's base spiritual power was already extraordinarily high.

Even though his past-life self had been a normal adult whose soul strength could not match that of a grown ninja in this world, an adult soul is still immeasurably stronger than a newborn's.

His initial spiritual power was roughly five times that of an ordinary infant in this world. His growth rate followed a 1+1>2 principle, making him three times faster than an average ninja. As he aged, his spiritual power grew exponentially.

On top of that, he inherited the Uchiha clan's unique methods of spiritual training—from relics left by Uchiha Rin, much of his ninjutsu coming from her as well. His mental potential was nothing short of extraordinary.

By the age of fifteen, his spiritual power had already surpassed even the top-tier Uchiha who possessed the three-tomoe Sharingan—and it continued to grow, seemingly without limit.

For him, unlocking the Sharingan was as simple as eating or drinking. At just seven, he applied minor mental stimulation—hypnotizing the deceased dog he had raised in his previous life—and unlocked the single-tomoe Sharingan.

In only three years, he cultivated it to the ultimate three-tomoe form, leaving only the Mangekyō Sharingan just out of reach. Yet that final step had trapped him for years.

He suspected that far stronger mental stimulation would be needed to awaken the Mangekyō, as ordinary genjutsu and hypnosis had no effect on his three-tomoe Sharingan.

But now, Konoha had only existed for thirty-two years. Although border skirmishes were frequent, no nation was fully ready for war. Real conflict wouldn't erupt for another three years. There was no urgency for Genbu to unlock the Mangekyō Sharingan just yet. After all, Susanoo was powerful, but it carried the risk of blindness.

Third, chakra.

Chakra is composed of spiritual energy and physical energy. Time travel had already amplified his spiritual power tremendously. Meanwhile, the Akimichi clan was known for their strong physiques—otherwise, their secret techniques, especially the unique body-multiplying abilities, would be impossible.

Genbu had inherited this perfectly. Even with the blessing of Uchiha blood, his physical strength surpassed the rest of the Akimichi clan.

Combined with his enormous spiritual power and robust body, his chakra reserves were immense, regenerating faster than ordinary humans. In every sense, he was like Naruto without the Eight Trigrams Seal—no need to store chakra as fat.

He had become a true anomaly in the Akimichi clan. Where others carried extra bulk, he possessed raw strength and agility, a strikingly handsome man of unmatched power.

Fourth, and perhaps most importantly, was his secret weapon: Dominance.

This concept stemmed from his previous life's anime world—One Piece. In that world, every human had latent potential, a power that was intrinsic and intangible, expressed through momentum, willpower, killing intent, and fighting spirit. When properly channeled, it could become a weapon. This power was called Haki.

When Haki hardened the body to enhance attack and defense, it was called Armament Haki. When it encased the soul to strengthen spiritual perception, it was called Observation Haki.

Since this was a power inherent in all humans in that world, only someone from the One Piece universe could wield it—but Genbu thought this was unfair. Why couldn't someone in the Naruto world cultivate it?

So he experimented.

His training was simple: he would blindfold himself and take repeated blows every day.

Since he started, all his daily activities—chakra management, ninjutsu practice, combat drills—relied heavily on his Shadow Clones. Meanwhile, he spent each day being defeated, or nearly defeated, over and over.

Perhaps because of differences in world personalities, Luffy took two years to master Armament and Observation Haki, but three years just to sense the force. Haki was like an invisible, intangible gas: everywhere and nowhere at once.

When Genbu attempted to channel this power, he found it as stubborn and immovable as a mountain. It refused to obey, which enraged him. His power being ignored felt like an insult to the heavens themselves.

Thus, he continuously pushed his body to the brink, walking the path of being defeated repeatedly.

So far, he could only apply the power to simple augmentations, far from fully mastering Armament Haki's hardening and Entanglement abilities. Its higher uses—flow manipulation or external destruction—were still like castles in the sky.

Even so, just the simple attachment produced remarkable results. While it didn't make him completely impervious, it significantly increased the defense of any part of his body touched by it.

This was why Genbu could withstand Tsunade's superhuman strikes. When the Haki enveloped the point of impact, his defense skyrocketed, making Tsunade feel as though she was striking steel.

As for Observation Haki… there had been little progress. He couldn't yet bind the body, let alone the soul. Still, daily blindfolded beatings greatly enhanced his combat perception—his "sixth sense." While it fell short of precognition, it was already a formidable ability.

Why did Genbu value Dominance so highly?

Because Dominance was a direct manifestation of willpower. It existed separately from the chakra system and could not be restrained or absorbed by powers like the Rinnegan or forbidden techniques.

In Genbu's mind, enveloping his chakra with this aura would not only amplify his ninjutsu but also make it impossible for others to siphon his chakra. The effect would be extraordinary.
