Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 – Toji Cuts the Shrine Structure

The world inside the Domain was screaming.

Buildings had already turned to dust.

The earth was shredded layer by layer.

Blood painted the air red.

At the center of it all—

Ryomen Sukuna stood calmly before the towering shrine.

And walking toward him—

Half-covered in blood—

Toji Fushiguro.

The Insight

Toji's breathing was uneven.

His body was close to collapse.

But his eyes were steady.

He wasn't reacting to the slashes anymore.

He was reading the rhythm.

Even an open Domain had structure.

Even chaos had a source.

The shrine behind Sukuna wasn't decoration.

It was the anchor.

The heart.

The output regulator.

Toji realized it.

And Sukuna noticed the shift.

"Oh?" Sukuna smiled faintly.

"You figured it out."

The Impossible Charge

Malevolent Shrine intensified.

Hundreds of Cleaves activated simultaneously.

Invisible blades carved the battlefield in every direction.

Toji stepped forward.

One slash cut deep into his shoulder.

Another split his side.

A third sliced across his face.

He didn't slow.

He began weaving—not randomly—

But between timing gaps.

Micro-delays.

Activation intervals.

Tiny blind spots created when output surged elsewhere.

Toji was gambling his life on milliseconds.

Sukuna's eyes sharpened.

"He's not escaping the Domain…"

"He's mapping it."

Direct Path to the Core

Toji suddenly changed direction.

Instead of charging Sukuna—

He aimed straight for the shrine itself.

The massive cursed structure loomed behind the King.

Sukuna moved instantly to intercept.

Their blades collided again.

Shockwaves cracked the shrine's steps.

"You think cutting it will end it?" Sukuna mocked.

Toji pushed forward with brutal force.

"I don't think," he replied coldly.

"I kill."

He feinted left—

Then twisted mid-spin and slipped past Sukuna's guard.

For a fraction of a second—

He stood before the shrine.

The Cut

Every Cleave inside the Domain converged on him at once.

Death from all sides.

Toji planted one foot firmly.

Both hands on his blade.

He inhaled once.

Then—

He slashed horizontally across the shrine's central pillar.

The sound was not metal.

Not stone.

It was like space tearing.

A crack spread across the cursed structure.

Sukuna's smile vanished.

The shrine split.

Energy surged wildly out of control.

The Domain flickered violently.

For the first time—

Malevolent Shrine destabilized.

Collapse

The guaranteed slashes misfired.

Some canceled out.

Others cut nothing.

The air pressure normalized.

The crimson sky shattered like broken glass.

With a deafening roar—

The shrine structure split into two massive halves.

And collapsed.

The Domain ended.

Silence replaced slaughter.

Toji stood amidst the wreckage—

Bleeding heavily.

Barely upright.

But alive.

Sukuna stepped back slowly, staring at the destroyed remains.

"You… cut the structure itself."

No amusement.

No laughter.

Only calculation.

Toji lowered his blade slightly.

"Domains are still built by something."

He coughed blood.

"And everything built…"

"…can be cut."

The battlefield returned to normal reality.

But the damage was done.

The King's Domain—

Had been broken by a man with zero cursed energy.

And for the first time since incarnating—

Sukuna looked genuinely interested.
