JASMINE
I hobbled into the meeting room on my crutches, the neck brace making my head feel like it was locked in a very expensive, very annoying metal cage.
Every step produced a soft click-clack on the tiled floor that echoed louder than I wanted.
The voluntary activity group was already seated around the long table Sarah, Priya, Mark, and Lisa. Henry was conveniently absent again.
"Shocking."
(System tells me about Henry's current location..)
(Much about Henry can't be said.) I sighed at this.
Lisa's eyes lit up with that familiar fake-sweet smile the moment she saw me
"Jasmine! You made it," she let out brightly. "We were just about to start. Since you're… limited right now, why don't you handle the easiest task? Sorting the trash photos and writing the basic summary. You know, nothing too complicated."
The others shifted uncomfortably in their seats but didn't argue. I could feel their doubt hanging in the air like a heavy fog.
