JASMINE
The car ride from school was quiet at first. My crutches rested against the seat, and the neck brace made turning my head difficult.
Stephan hadn't said much since picking me up, but his hand occasionally brushed mine on the gear shift. When we didn't turn toward the mansion, I looked at him curiously.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
Stephan glanced at me, a small smile tugging at his lips. "I thought we could use a break. Just the two of us. There's a restaurant not far from here. I haven't really talked to you properly since… everything that happened at the hospital. I want to fix that."
My heart warmed. "I would like that." I giggled out and he just smiled in return.
The restaurant was elegant with soft lighting, wooden tables, and a beautiful garden view through large windows. Stephan had reserved a private corner table. He helped me settle into my seat, adjusting the crutches and making sure I was comfortable before sitting across from me.
