The hospital waiting area was a blur of sterile white walls and harsh fluorescent lights.
I sat rigidly on the hard plastic chair, my hands clasped so tightly in my lap that my knuckles ached. My heart pounded so loudly I could hear it echoing in my ears.
Jaden had collapsed right here and I was unable to do anything. One minute he is standing here asking about grandmother's health and the next moment he gasped, clutched his small chest, and went limp. The terror in his eyes before he lost consciousness haunted me.
