As the sun had completely disappeared from the sky, an ice-cold wind began blowing through the desert.
Theo slowly looked around.
''We'll have to stop here for the night,'' he said, glancing back.
Owen gritted his teeth and kicked the sand.
''Fuck!'' he shouted.
''It's alright,'' Lyra quickly calmed him down. ''I'm sure we'll get somewhere tomorrow.''
But it wasn't just Owen who was frustrated with the situation.
Both Iris and Jim held dark expressions on their faces.
''I don't like this feeling,'' Iris said quietly. ''Walking around like headless chickens… it just feels wrong.''
No one actually knew how far they were from civilization.
Walking for hours was fine.
But now that they had reached their first night here, hope had slowly begun fading.
Theo nodded slowly, knowing exactly how they felt.
Despite that, as the acting leader, he needed to keep their motivation up.
