Chapter 7 - The Choosing Ceremony

Chapter 07: The Choosing Ceremony

Dragon calendar: Year: 1,001,100 M.A, Sokratis (January) 01st

In the lair of the Dragon King, if one could walk past grand halls and luxurious corridors into the deepest part of the palace, they could find a mysterious gate, like a gateway to the secret garden of the Fairy Queen.

Adorned with neon colored crystals and colorful tinted-glass, with a golden frame on top of that, the fine craftsmanship of dwarves was evident from one glance.

That exact same gate, which was closed for nearly a century, was now guarded by a single man.

He wore a luxurious attire of gold and white together with a long fur cape covering his left shoulder. Jewels with gold and silver chains decorated his body, with a big horn-like crown on his head.

At that moment, his handsome face was robbed by an impatient expression.

"You are late, father." His discomposed voice rang across the hallway as another man, looking similar to him from body features as well as attire calmly walked over to him,

"We have ten minutes left, Ellie." Endymion chuckled, finding his son's mood amusing.

"Yeah! Only ten minutes! You should've been here an hour ago!" Elysium grumbled like a little kid, snapping his fingers to release all the protective barriers placed on the gate.

"I had a vision." Endymion replied nonchalantly, his gaze on the gate.

Elysium paused, looking at his father with widened eyes.

A vision.

Also known as foresight.

It was a spell that activates on its own using dreams as a medium, and only Time mages of 7th to 10th circle have the access to that kind of future foresight.

The future is something continuously changing, so most of the time, there are chances of visions being incorrect.

However, it is an undeniable fact that the possibility of it being correct was always there.

Elysium studied the expression on his father for several seconds.

An avid time mage like Elysium mentioning his vision means it was somehow related to him or his children.

"...is it something I should watch out for?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Well…" Endymion waved his hand. The gates opened without a sound, welcoming them to the usual view of a flower plain. "It's about Ria." He revealed.

"Please tell me the details."

"Something interesting is about to happen. But you don't have to worry, we both know Ria is different from your average hatchlings."

"That's…true." Elysium admitted.

His eldest child was born special.

Not because she was a mutated dragon, but because the way she seemed to view the world itself was very different.

She was unique from the beginning. The way she was always polite and gentle, but deep down very indifferent to everything including herself was a bit concerning.

She always tried her best to make distance between her and everything else.

Those yellow diamond like eyes, sometimes cautious as if she had gone through all kinds of misery and knows the dirty, dark side of the world.

And sometimes so terribly lonely as if she was starving for something she dared not to have.

In times like this, all he can do is secretly watch over her in silence, ready to aid her if she seems stuck or lost.

As Elysium silently thought of his daughter, both him and his father stepped in to the chamber, each with their own thoughts and worries.

Her heavy eyelids opened slowly, to find her vision taken by countless transparent holographic screens glowing in silver with golden letters.

[Welcome back, Host!]

Kyriaki's eyes fluttered open, there was no trace of drowsiness in it as she stood on her four limbs.

She felt taller, larger and stronger.

—Ria!— The cheerful voice of her twin brother caused her to lift her head in awe.

Her brother—Kyrios—waved his front paw outside of her sphere. He had finished his growth pace before her, now waiting besides Elysium and Endymion with a large grin across his face.

He too looked grown. Just like her.

—How late am I?— She asked telepathically, getting out of the sphere that made a small door for her.

—Only two minutes— Kyrios replied right away, prompting Kyriaki to nod her head.

Walking towards them through bloomed flowers, She studied herself in the mirror that happened to be summoned by Elysium for Kyrios.

She had grown a lot, now her length was 5 meters and height was about 2.2 meters with firm shoulders and wings that could actually be useful.

Yes, wings.

Although she had to practice flying, just like a baby learning to walk, it was still a useful skill.

She closed her eyes, feeling her wings. They flapped to a clumsy rhythm as she was lifted in the air. Kyriaki gasped at how her first attempt failed in two seconds as she plopped on the ground.

'Should I use for help?'

When she was seriously thinking of using a support skill to cover up what was lacking, Elysium's laughter, like a cup of pure sweet honey, reached her ears.

"You'll get to learn how to fly in the Selene palace." He consoled her in a tender tone, walking up and standing behind her.

His otherworldly figure reflected on the full length mirror. With flowers and a blue sky in the background, he looked more handsome.

"Yes, let's put that aside for now. How about using to change your form, children?" Suggested Endymion.

—Ah!— Kyriaki exclaimed softly, remembering how she waited for this moment.

—I've been waiting for this moment!— Kyrios expressed his inner monologue with a blissful smile, closing his eyes.

—Activate

Since they were still young and inexperienced, they had to command the spell, just chanting the spell is not enough.

—Human—

A golden smoke appeared out of his body, surrounding him whole.

Before Kyriaki could express her surprise or assess the situation, the height of the smoke significantly decreased and in less than 30 seconds, it all disappeared as if it was never there.

Elysium waved his arm in a hurry before the smoke completely vanished as he couldn't let his naked son get embarrassed before his family.

With Elysium's help, from the smoke, emerged a little human boy around 5 years old.

His golden eyes with yellow freckles over captured the light, glittering like a beautiful mixture of melted gold and crushed yellow diamonds.

His jade white skin, evidence of nobility and chubby cheeks painted in rose hue gave him the look of an innocent and adorable appearance.

If it was not for the overly long golden hair glowing under the artificial sunrays, he could've been the picture of a little royal prince with the looks and all those luxurious attire.

"Thanasios have mercy! I can't take this cuteness!! What should I do!!!" Elysium, with a handkerchief pulled out from who-knows-where, wiped away his tears as if a human watching a god descending to the earth.

Endymion, on the other hand, pulled out a few drones as he recorded every angle of Kyrios' new form. Ball shaped robot cameras flew around like they were filming a movie.

"Ah! My hair!" Kyrios pouted, looking at his long hair, flowing like a true waterfall. It was at least over 5 meters long.

Elysium knelt in front of him. His eyes sparkling and lips twitching as if he had a thousand things to say. But instead he patted Kyrios' head gently.

"Well done my sunshine, now could you imagine your hair getting short to an appropriate length? This much would do." He motioned to his neck as he carefully explained.

"Yeah!" Kyrios beamed, pleased with the praise.

Shinnn!

The next second, his hair started to get shorter at a fast pace. It finally ended when his hair automatically turned into that famous wolf-cut with long golden layers.

"Well done,Son!" Elysium and Endymion both applaud with delight. Blushing in bright red as they couldn't contain their excitement.

Kyriaki shook her head inwardly.

Since the form they get from activating their unique skill cannot be changed according to their will, it was somewhat related to their original form and thus could be recognized as a bit closer to truth.

Which meant those otherworldly figures were what they'd look like if they were born human.

That is, only if they were human.

helps the dragon to blend in with the selected race to a terrifying degree. The skill crafts an outer shell to mimic the selected race as much as possible.

That's why they could even use something simple for a human like blushing unknowingly.

Otherwise, how could Dragons, who have golden blood flowing inside their veins blush red?

Blushing red only applies to those with red blood. When they are exposed to unexpected physiological reactions, the nerves system tends to release adrenaline, which causes dilating blood vessels in an attempt to improve blood-flow and oxygen delivery inside blood veins. Causing the state of reddened cheeks. And for some, it could go as far as ears, neck and even the chest and finger tips.

That kind of phenomenon—even if it happened to Dragons—must turn yellow golden, not red, if one was to follow natural logic.

Kyriaki couldn't help but chuckle inwardly as she imagined them blushing yellow instead of red, resembling a jaundice patient. It would be entertaining to watch.

As she was going deeper and deeper in her entertaining yet useless thoughts, she felt someone's gaze glue to her for a while.

"Now…" She heard Elysium's voice, hardly surpassing his excitement.

Kyriaki lifted her gaze, only to see something ominous.

All of her family members turned to look at Kyriaki. Their eyes held stars in them as they creeped towards her.

'Why am I getting a bad feeling?' Kyriaki took a step back.

Knowing what they wanted, she realized she won't be able to avoid them until she gives it to them willingly.

—Fine…— She mumbled, closing her eyes.

She felt her blood getting unusually hot, as if the temperature increased ten fold. Her claws, wings, tail and horns tickled with slowly growing warmth inside her. For some reason, she felt pleasure from those feelings.

But before she could fully grasp that pleasure, it was all over.

"Gasps!!!" Her family of three idiots gasped simultaneously as she emerged from the golden smoke that covered her entire body.

Without even looking, she knew for a fact that her hair was similar to Kyrios'.

Since she didn't want to cosplay as a certain princess with long magical hair back on earth, she tightly closed her eyes and adjusted her hair to be on a bit below her shoulders.

After a few adjustments, Kyriaki opened her eyes, looking down to get a better opinion.

She was wearing a lolita style white-yellow dress. A matching outfit with Kyrios.

Her fingers, tiny and rosy, felt somewhat awkward as she realized she had gotten used to her claws.

She was somewhat chubby, and short. In terms of human standards from the 21st century, she was adorable and beautiful, like a beloved daughter of a God.

Nevertheless, she felt no particular emotion.

"Ah…I can die without regrets." Elysium's trembling voice brought her back to reality as Kyriaki looked at her family with a straight face.

"My eyes are blessed." Even her grandfather seemed to lose it.

"I'll have to work hard to shoo away flies." Kyrios crossed his little chubby arms and said in an adorable voice with a slight hint of danger hanging around.

"Please stop overreacting." A flat, aloof command escaped her mouth.

She felt great relief to find out that she could now use her vocal cords like humans do to stop her outrageously dramatic family—who are like Fittonia Albivenis—from overreacting.

"Even if she is so cold, she's still more beautiful than any doll." Elysium pulled out his second handkerchief.

Endymion and Kyrios nodded as a few drones floated around her to their command.

"If y'all don't stop, I'll switch back to formalities for the rest of my life. And that's not all, I'll be friendly and clingy with everyone except you for the rest of my life." Kyriaki declared calmly, her tone filled with ladylike grace as she smiled gently.

Invisible warning signs practically floated above her head.

"Ahem." Endymion looked away.

"Cough..Cough." Elysium pulled out his third handkerchief.

"Awww…" Kyrios lowered his head in disappointment.

"Ahem…I'll pay you so that you won't use formalities with me." Clearing his throat, Endymion took a step forward.

Then, with a single snap of his fingers, two golden statues, the picture perfect of their three months old hatchling appearance, popped out before the twins.

"It's pure gold, crafted by the most excellent High Dwarf. This will mark the start of your own treasure collection." His lips curved into a huge grin as he explained proudly.

"Wow…" Kyriaki's eyes sparkled.

It wasn't that she liked to have her own statue, but who would refuse gold in this day and time?

"Ria is pleased." Kyrios widened his eyes, taking notes in secret before scanning his gift.

Endymion nodded with his increasing pride.

"I looooove it! Thanks grandpa!" Kyrios ran towards the statue and hugged it like a cicada.

"Thank you so much grandpa! I'll cherish it well!" Kyriaki grinned from ear to ear, her yellow diamond eyes glittering as if someone had sprinkled gold dust.

"Well well well…" Elysium scoffed at his father, his lips twisted in jealousy as he extended his arms. Two luxurious looking boxes appeared on them.

He gifted each to Kyrios and Kyriaki, eyes twinkling as they curiously examined the boxes.

"Happy 100th birthday, my lovely children. I hope you'll accept my small gratitude gift." His soft voice, mixed with the fragrance of dozens of flowers, felt somewhat pleasant to Kyriaki.

She opened her box without any delay.

Inside it was a pair of golden earrings.

The design caught her eyes in an instant.

The stunning visuals of mismatched clock gears including the Main wheel and the Escape wheel made of platinum and gold respectively looked incredibly well made.

Upon closer inspection, there was a golden dragon carefully drawn on the surface of the tiny gears. Furthermore, very thin golden chains accompanied the earrings like curtains.

All three of the second hand, minute hand and hour hand worked together like a gothic artwork carefully put together to create stunning dangle earrings.

But what made it more flawless was the clear gem, elegant and noble, in the color of aqua blue in the place of center stone.

If someone asked her to describe the earrings in one word, she would say "Mesmerizing" without hesitation.

'I like it.' Kyriaki took her glued eyes off of the earrings as that thought hit her.

Unbeknown to her, the aqua blue gemstone started to glow faintly the moment it happened.

"So pretty..." Kyrios next to her mumbled unconsciously, stealing away her attention. His eyes were still locked onto his gift.

Kyriaki studied his box with curiosity.

He too was given a pair of ear cuff earrings, made of finest gold and a mysterious red gem as main ingredients. The red gemstone was in the shape of a ball, and a ring surrounded it like it was second nature, reminding Kyriaki of Planet Saturn.

The straight ear cuff ended with a crimson star at the end. Simply put, it felt like he was given planets and stars as his birthday gift from the fancy look of the well crafted earrings.

In the original timeline, something like this never happened.

Kyriaki was a bit confused but still accepted the gift with open arms.

That was one of her virtues and her life rule no.05; Never decline money and gifts if it doesn't link to her job.

"The red gems on Rio's earrings are called Kokki-ne and the blue gems on Ria's earrings are called Kyano-ne. Those rare crystals that only appear once every few thousands years when the crimson moonlight clashes with the aura of pure snow in the blessed winter. Even if it doesn't sound that rare, mind you that the last time a Crimson moon and a Blessed Winter clashed was 307 years ago."

"Woah…" The twins exclaimed in unison, their eyes sparkling with excitement.

Kyano-ne crystals on Kyriaki's earrings started to glow once again. This round, she clearly saw it happening. Her eyebrows arched as she stared at it with caution.

"Wha-what's happening?!" Kyrios looked at Elysium and then at the earrings on his sister's palm. Question marks basically floated around his head.

"That is the nature of Kyano-ne." Elysium chuckled.

"Huh?"

"I failed to mention, those gems have the ability to grant stealth and chastity of mind. In addition, Kokki-ne has the ability to sense the deepest sadness of the bounded person while Kyano-ne has the ability to sense the purest happiness of the bounded person. I bound the gems to you two since I couldn't read some of your emotions well…so when Rio gets sad, I can be there for him to never feel too sad and when Ria feels happy, I can be there to celebrate it with her." He explained kindly.

Although Kyriaki wanted to ask what he would do if she felt sad and Kyrios felt happy, she refrained from asking.

It had been so long since she had felt sad. After getting reincarnated, most of the emotions she felt were positive, much to her surprise. And even if Kyrios feels sad, she could just sing him a lullaby and lull him to sleep like she always does.

So in a nutshell, the gifts are perfect for them.

A strange resolve dominated her mind and heart at that moment, that she'd cherish this gift as if it was her own eyes and heart.

Not knowing Kyrios thought the same way…

And also,

Not knowing these two pairs of earrings would go down in history, even after their bodies perished and they became legends written in books.

'But that was another story for them to find out much later.' Endymion gently smiled inwardly as he thought.

"Umm…Your Majesty?" As Elysium was about to personally put the earrings on Kyriaki, a familiar voice called out.

"Dammit, Ezekiel! when did you sneak here?!" Elysium's eyes immediately turned cold as he let out a low growl.

"He was there since before you gave us the gifts, Dad." Kyriaki sighed, recalling the event where Ezekiel jumped out of Elysium's shadow as if he was going on an afternoon walk on a random Monday.

"Pfft…you were so hung up with the gifts I gave to the children that you failed to detect your own personal assistant. Just what is the use of your dragon senses and skills?" Endymion covered his mouth with a haughty look on his face.

"Th-that's because I didn't sense any killing intent from him, I've already marked him as an ally."

"Allies can betray, Dad. How irresponsible. Oh, no offense to you, Sir Ezekiel." Kyriaki shook her head with a look that said she was hoping for him to mature a little bit.

Elysium's already downcast eyes turned even sadder as he lowered his head in dismay, mumbling something about how his father and daughter are very cold-hearted.

"No offense taken, Your Highness!" Meanwhile Ezekiel replied ever so cheerfully.

"I am here to escort you to the choosing ceremony."

"Aha!" Kyrios exclaimed with excitement.

His large yellow diamond eyes sparkling twice as much as before.

"But what is a choosing ceremony?" he then asked, confusion evident on his adorable face.

"The choosing ceremony is an important tradition for us—Dark High Elves—to celebrate each generation. All young dark elves of high noble status gather in the King's Palace to be chosen as the personal assistant of a royal. Your grandfather has done it, your father has done it and has chosen me as his personal assistant, and now you have to do it as well. The purpose is simple, it's to choose someone to be your helping hand and feet for the next 4,000 years or so. Ah! Since our lifespan is limited to 5,000 years at max, you'll have to continuously choose one of us as your loyal and helpful companion until you dethrone yourselves." Ezekiel explained with his index finger raised up, like some kind of a philosopher.

"Only 5000 years? Why?" Rio asked, there was a hint of bewilderment and sorrow in his eyes.

He was more focused on the lifespan of a Dark High Elf than his choosing ceremony.

Endymion gently patted his head, his eyes too had those emotions flickering as if a lonely candle light inside a secluded chapel.

"From dawn-flies who live for only two hours to us dragons who live over 20,000 years, each and every race has their own lifespan. We can delay our death if we are so desperate, but as beings who are bound to the laws of the universe, we are not immortal."

"But I thought we were immortal?"

"In a sense, yes. Us dragons have an immortal soul. Once our outer shell lives past the time limit that was set for us, our souls become celestial spirits and move to the celestial plain. But aren't other souls the same? They are in an endless cycle of reincarnation, the only difference is that their memories get washed away in the river of reincarnation while we get to keep ours."

Endymion's voice carried the wisdom of a being who had watched the fall and rise of countless civilizations, races and people.

In the midst of his indifferent tone, there was also this slight emotion of acceptance and commitment Kyriaki sensed for a moment.

"Since our souls are immortal, even if we die, there's a slight chance of getting to meet our former comrades and loved ones. Even if they don't remember, we will. So don't be too sad, Rio. Goodbyes aren't forever." Elysium also joined the conversation with a serene smile lingering on his lips. He too seemed to be aware of the rough clutches of the time.

"Now, enough with the depressing conversation, let us get going!" He then yelled out with his fist clenched, immediately switching to his carefree and cheerful mood.

With a single snap of his fingers, they were enveloped by a bright-orange, like marigold, light.

The next second they were in the throne room. Kyriaki and Kyrios sitting on Elysium's lap as Ezekiel stood on the side of the throne. Endymion was sitting on a fancy throne-like chair one stage below.

""We greet the 49th Monarch and Dragon King, Elysium Haris Eleftherios!!!""

Children who looked to be around 10-15 knelt and shouted in unison as the guards immediately straightened their backs, clanging their spears on the ground with a loud, ceremonial thud that echoed through the grand throne room. They all had the typical traits of a dark elf; long pointy ears, tan skin and a beautiful appearance.

"Raise your head." Elysium commanded with clear authority, leaning sideways against the armrest, his chin on his palm.

"I expect your utmost cooperation in this sacred ceremony as today is the day my children are supposed to choose their first assistant to aid their future growth."

As the children raised their heads, still not daring to look straight at the king of dragons, Kyriaki tugged Elysium's sleeves with a calculating gaze.

"Dad, since we are twins, do we get to choose one assistant or two?"

"You can choose as many as you want," Elysium chuckled softly. "It doesn't matter even if you choose everyone present here."

"In that case…" Kyriaki's golden gaze swapped across the hall.

Her eyes first fixed on a boy that looked to be around 15. Well, frankly, that was in human age. It is always hard to grudge the age of long living races.

He had dark green hair and lovely grey eyes with a thin physique. Yet, he was incredibly good-looking, proving his elven bloodline.

'That guy was the one Rio chose in the original timeline.' She studied him for a few seconds, recalling the parts of original Kyrios' memories regarding this dark elf.

There was no drama like those of a soap opera. He was very loyal and capable. But not the type Kyriaki was very fond of.

He was clumsy and cheerful, so much so that when he made mistakes no one could scold him while looking at his bright eyes. He wasn't a good match for original Kyrios, who was a literal pushover.

Furthermore, his prowess was leaning more to the side of academic rather than practical. That was the very reason he died in the second God's war.

After his death, there was another elf that took his place…

Kyriaki's gaze drifted away to the far back of the crowd, locking eyes with the only elf who not only dared to stare but also study his potential masters.

The boy, appeared to be around 12 in human years, had bright violet eyes and shoulder length plum purple hair neatly tied into a low ponytail. His attire neat and tidy, posture upright.

But most importantly; his gaze… it was measuring something.

As their eyes met, his fine eyebrows twitched with surprise, only to an extent someone like Kyriaki who was an expert in body language could catch on.

She smirked, retreating her gaze and continuing her observation of other elves.

—Brother…— She called to Kyrios telepathically, not bothering to turn around to have a vocal conversation.

—Yeah?— Kyrios replied back, following her lead and studying the crowd as if nothing happened.

—You know what this means, right?—

—Of course. This means the more people that are monitoring us, the less chances we get to sneak around—

'It's really convenient to have a smart brother.' Kyriaki told herself, momentarily pausing her telepathy messages.

—So Rio, what's your decision?—

"Then sister…" Kyrios turned his head and glanced at Kyriaki with an adorable smile. "I'll leave this matter to you." He declared in front of everyone with ease, replying to her question vocally.

Kyriaki's smirk grew wider.

"Very well…if that's what my dear brother wants." Kyriaki jumped from Elysium's lap.

Elysium did nothing as he watched his daughter descend the stairs. A small smile tugged his lips as he leaned to Thorne with his chin on his hand.

Kyriaki walked through the young elves that made way for her with bewildered expressions. She walked past the elf Kyrios chose in the original timeline as she gracefully stepped towards the only person she deemed worthy of serving her.

"I chose him!" She pointed her tiny finger at the tall boy with bright violet eyes.

His eyes widened as he took a step back, his former calm and sharp demeanor crumbling at a fast speed.

Gasps and mummers filled the throne room right away. Except for her father and brother, everyone seemed to be surprised by her decision. Even Endymion raised one of his eye brows, observing the situation.

"Y-your Highness…" Ezekiel stepped up, his expression same as those around her. "I plead with you to make your decision after reconsidering."

"Why? It can't be that anyone participating in this ceremony is incapable. So what makes you question the decision of your princess?" Kyriaki's voice turned sharp as she looked at Ezekiel with cold eyes.

Her demeanor changed 180° from gentle and polite to cold and sharp at once.

"Th-that…" Ezekiel shuttered as he was having surprise over surprise as he saw his polite little princess who was always indifferent to everything around her showing such strong emotions.

"...he's deaf, my princess." He uttered in a small pained voice, as if telling it with his own mouth hurt him more than it did to the person involved.

"Is that so..?" Kyriaki glanced at the boy, she could see a white hearing aid clung to his long ear peaking out.

It must have been made in Selene City, she was sure of it. A small smile appeared on her face, washing away her cold expression instantly.

"Then I can simply learn sign language. What's your opinion, Rio?" Her head turned to the throne on the high platform.

"Well, it won't even take a day to learn that kind of communication skill. It'll be fun." Kyrios giggled, giving her a thumb up.

"See?" Kyriaki turned to Ezekiel with an adorable smile, then her eyes turned to the boy.

"What's your name?" She asked, using hand signs.

Ezekiel who was standing beside her gasped once again. It seemed this time even Elysium and Kyrios were surprised.

"Netzer." The elf boy replied with his mouth agaped.

"I see…Netzer, would you like to become my personal assistant?"

"I don't think I'm suited for that role."

"Why not? The fact that you are standing here means you are already a candidate for this position. And even if you refuse, I'll just use my authority to make you obey."

"You are amusing, princess."

"Hey brat," Ezekiel hit the back of Netzer's head, breaking their conversation. "Is this how you repay Her Royal Highness' kindness?" He yelled as he aggressively made hand signs.

Then in a more respectful tone, he addressed Kyriaki;

"I didn't know Your Highness knew the Sign Language of Dark Elves."

"I just stumbled upon a book about it in Dad's old library." Kyriaki lied right away with a straight face, as if it was just breathing to her.

In truth, she had memories of Kyrios learning Sign language for Netzer from the original timeline. So it wasn't hard for her to mimic.

And besides…

'It doesn't matter if he was deaf. I can simply make a better hearing aid modeled after those Aiding tools from earth. Mixing the technology here and there will be useful. And even if I fail at that, there's always this thing called "magic" in this world.'

Dragons, who had finished their 3rd growth pace can bless others with power and abilities.

In the original timeline, Elysium blessed him with "Blessing of Senses" after he found out how useful the boy was. It helped Netzer to gain the ability to hear as well as to improve his other senses.

At its peak, the blessing grants the sharp senses of a swordmaster to a normal person.

"You said he was deaf…but you never said he was mute." Just as she hoped for, Elysium's authoritative voice rang through the throne room.

"Step forth, boy."

With Ezekiel's help, Netzer stepped out and knelt in front of Elysium.

Elysium lifted Kyrios, placing him on the throne and stepping down the stairs with firm and strong steps.

"I, Elysium Haris Eleftherios, bestow upon you the Blessings of Senses at this moment, accept the grace and goodwill of the Dragons and bring us glory." Elysium pointed his long index finger at Netzer's forehead. The tip of his finger glowing in gold.

The second it touched Netzer, the light entered his body, disappearing the next minute, leaving behind a black tattoo-like symbol on his neck. It was a mixture of an eye, a halo and a few more crude lines and patterns.

Ezekiel knelt before Elysium as Kyriaki crossed her arms with a satisfied smile on her face.

Then in a whisper so soft, so painfully tender, Ezekiel whispered;

"Thank you, Your Highness. Thanks to you, my son will have a chance to view the world like I do."

"Even if I didn't interfere, Dad would've done the same if you'd told him a little sooner." Kyriaki whispered back, earning a small chuckle that felt like a soft breeze from Ezekiel.

She then looked at the boy who exuded the scent of someone who loves life.
