Chapter 24: Alchemy Class
"Hand it over, My dear twin."
"D-do I really have to?"
"Yes."
"Okay."
Kyrios, who tends to believe anything Kyriaki says and is obedient to her unlike most siblings, lowered his head and snapped his fingers.
In an instant, two piles of Diamonds, each taller than two Endymions appeared right behind him, making students around them leap back with gasps.
"Wh-what the hell is that?!"
"Woah…pure white diamonds."
"... I don't think I could pile up that much even in a century."
"... everyday I attend EESOP, I become aware how unlucky I am in this world."
"Wow…"
"Crazy…"
"This is my entire fortune, you know." Ignoring all the mummers around them, Kyrios muttered in a very quiet tone, pouting like a baby that was dissatisfied with his milk bottle.
"Liar. You still have the gift grandpa gave you."
"Ack! That doesn't count!!"
"It does."
"Okay…"
"What kind of ridiculous conversation is this?" As Kyrios once again accepted Kyriaki's argument and lowered his head, Euclid asked with an expression that said he was tired of their bxllshxt.
"The kind that makes you question your morale and lifestyle." Kyriaki nonchalantly said while sucking up all the diamonds into her smart watch inventory.
Why was she doing that?
Well, just like Kyriaki declared the other day, Kyrios succeeded in obtaining his first mage circle. So the moment they walked out of Atlas' magic training forest, which was their first class, she demanded her payment be paid, which Kyrios reluctantly agreed.
"Oh, by the way. Congratulations on your first warrior ring and mage circle as well, Eucee."
"Ah, ahem. Yes, well… Thank you." Euclid, who was flabbergasted by the sudden surprise attack Kyriaki launched, cleared his throat and looked away.
Kyriaki looked at him curiously.
'In the original timeline, he wasn't this fast. What on earth has changed?'
Without her intervention, nothing could be changed.
Kyriaki tried to pry into his status window the moment she realized he was catching up with Kyrios, who had the blessing of the sovereign. And she was also curious about the mysterious thread that bound them together.
But unfortunately, Atlas didn't give her time to do so as he was excited to welcome three dragons who advanced to the first circle at once.
As Kyriaki was about to check Euclid's status window once again, the door opened, filling the air with a strong scent of Elixirs and chemicals.
"This is your first class with me, so I'll introduce myself once again. I am Acacia Ismini Georgios, your Alchemy Professor." A woman with a cold and unyielding face that looked like she had no blood or tears walked into the lab, wearing a pure white lab coat.
Her ankle long dark brown hair, resembling a caramel jar, had soft champagne color tips like it was painted with secret magic and divine touch of an unknown being.
Her rosy lips, so beautiful it resembled cherry blossoms in full bloom, parted as she faced the students, who were standing in front of a laboratory workbench that had been assigned to a team.
"Turn to page 31 of your
"Aww…man, I have the metal attribute, she's sending me to my grave right after the class started."
"No, am I going to die with my water attribute?"
"Dammit, you think lightning attribute users are fine? We don't have a single circle or tire yet! That means we are just walking lightning rods!!"
The alchemy laboratory got instantly filled with mummers of complaints.
Kyriaki too had a complaint this time as she took out a pack of huge white mushrooms with blue crackers around its skin from her smart watch.
'I thought she'd say "Turn to page 394" while closing all the windows. What a let down.'
Under the cold champagne hue gaze of the abstruse professor, the students began to focus on their assignment.
"Ahhh!"
"Fxxx"
"Goddammit!!!"
Although there were screams from among the lab desks from time to time, most of the students realized sticking to naturality brought safety in their assignment.
Not failing,
Not having noticeable achievement either,
Just…stuck at one point. Pretending they are doing something. The value of life is evidenced in their occasional glances.
"Motherxxxxxx!!!"
Kyriaki watched as the elf girl next to her got a powerful electric shock the moment she was about to slice the last mushroom. Her grey hair that was tied up in a high ponytail looked like a scared cat's tail as she cursed to the heavens.
In her laboratory workbench, where ten students worked together, the single one who completed the assignment was Kyriaki, who was also the only dragon in the table.
The workbench behind her, which was occupied by Euclid and Kyrios, also faced the same destiny as only the dragons were able to finish it safely.
But on the other hand, Sirius as well as Theodoros failed miserably at their given assignment.
What was more funny was that Theodoros, who was the only child of Professor Acacia, was the first one to fail in the entire classroom. He pouted as he received penalty points from his merciless professor-turned-mother.
"Now that almost everyone has miserably failed, 10 achievement points for the students who passed. And let's take our attention to Tempest mushrooms. As we already know, it has lightning properties. And it only grows at the eye of a magical storm, where it manifests for the first time. For dragons who have the authority of information insight, the summary of a tempest mushroom appears like this on the screen." Acacia snapped her fingers.
A giant 3D version of Tempest mushrooms, along with a replica of Mitherr-ge system screen popped out.
[Tempest mushrooms
Rank: A
Attribute: Lightning
Description: A mushroom grows at the eye of a magical strom. Has lightning properties.]
"This mushroom is also used as a directly consumable elixir. It can temporarily boost the power of lightning related spells and skills by 8%. For the lightning attribute users, it permanently increases the affinity of lightning attribute and Mana. For those with opposite attributes, consuming this will give them a temporary boost in lightning related spells but in return it takes side effects such as burned tongue, temporary taste loss and sometimes electric shock."
Acacia snapped her fingers once again. This time, a 3D version of cutted tempest mushrooms appeared.
"To prevent such side effects, we use alchemy as a medium to create simple potions such as
Acacia snapped her fingers for the third time, all colorful 3D pictures vanished with a swoosh sound. They were replaced by types of potions, labeled with above names.
One potion looked dreadful, as if it could burn guts. Another looked powerful, to the point it hinted at danger. The last looked pleasing to the eye. But those were the most distrustful potions in the alchemy world.
Acacia continued her lecture without a pause, even after showing them such high class potions on display.
"But the first step to create a simple elixir such as
A few students chuckled. Not loud enough to disturb her lecture, but enough to soften the tension. Professor Acacia continued with a steady voice.
"The reason I told you to cut the mushrooms without getting electric shock was because I wanted to see those who can filter their Mana properly. I didn't know this year was more disappointing than last year."
A truly dissatisfied sigh escaped Acacia's mouth.
"I clearly told you to imbue your Mana. If you read the page I told you to turn, you'd have found out that an Alchemist must always filter their Mana so that their Elemental mana won't get mixed up with the mana of the ingredient they are working with. Only three people out of two hundred had read the page it seems." Her cold gaze swapped up the entire laboratory.
Kyriaki felt as if someone had turned on the air conditioner in the middle of winter.
Tension returned as fast as it softened. The elf next to Kyriaki shifted her stance uncomfortably, as if she was accused of indecent video download on her laptop.
"Now, don't just assume that if you filter your Mana, next time it'll be okay. Read the page thoroughly and find out the cultivation methods of Mana filtering, and while you are at it, you'll continue to cut Tempest mushrooms. The same rules will apply to this round too. Be ready to receive penalty points, everyone."
Professor Acacia said it in a clear and steady voice.
"Until you are able to filter your Mana and imbue them to magical ingredients, you'll continue with Tempest mushroom wrestling. For your information, it took me half an hour to master that cultivation, so good luck."
Dejected exclamations poured out from all directions, but Acacia didn't bat an eye. Her unwavering gaze, full of coldness, pressured them to continue with their assignment.
"For the three students who mastered their Mana filtering, would you like to attempt a potion creation?"
Once the students fully began to concentrate on their assignment, Professor Acacia gave her attention to the dragon trio.
Her gaze first landed on Kyrios, who was the second to finish his task in just twenty five minutes, and then her gaze naturally landed on Euclid, who grasped the process in just a few dozens of minutes after Kyrios.
Acacia seemed to be pleased for some reason as her champagne eyes finally fixed on Kyriaki.
It only took 14 minutes for her to finish her task. A record that could never be broken in The History of Alchemy for a while.
A genius who could concur the depth of Alchemy for thousands of years to come.
Acacia wanted to jump and exclaim with joy, but her dignity held her from doing so.
Meanwhile, Kyriaki raised her hands with curiosity. And as if she finally made up her mind, she opened her mouth;
"Can I attempt to make a
A dead silence.
Time seems to slow down just after she asked that question from Acacia.
The proud professor's brown eyebrows went up like an arch.
Clang!
Somewhere I'm the laboratory, someone dropped their knife, breaking the silence for the first time.
Acacia cleared her throat, replaying what Kyriaki asked her.
"Ahem..you want to…attempt to make a
"Yes."
"... student Kyriaki. You may be a genius among dragons, breaking records left and right. But may I remind you that you are still inexperienced?"
Acacia immediately pointed out her inexperience in the field. She didn't say Kyriaki was too young, or that she was unqualified to do so. That made Kyriaki's lips curl up into a beautiful smile.
"Aren't we doing this and that in EESOP to gain experience anyway?" A valid argument.
Professor Acacia closed her mouth as if she was speechless.
A few minutes passed by as Professor Acacia observed Kyriaki's face. She seemed to be thinking deeply of something as her champagne color eyes held a deep calculating emotion inside them.
"Very well… if you can make a
"As you wish." Kyriaki bowed elegantly in return, and turned to look at the table that was already being separated from her group workbench.
The place where she stood moved on its own as if it was some kind of machine and finally stopped at the corner of the laboratory. Every ingredient that was used in
"What are you all looking at? Want another ten penalty points? You better get to work!" With Acacia's cold voice spreading through the laboratory like water freezing in a speed up YxuTxbe video, Kyriaki too got to her work.
Why did she suddenly want to make bombs out of nowhere? One might be curious.
'If I don't have magic spells, then I just have to temporarily replace it with a substitute. Like bombs and potions that alchemists make.'
It was that simple.
Kyriaki summoned her <1000 Basic Potion Recipes for Beginners> Book that was in PDF format in a transparent tablet. The kind you'd only see in a sci-fi movie where a beautiful woman carries it around explaining things to the protagonist.
She browsed through it at a fast pace, memorizing everything on the spot as she did so. She had all those brain related passive skills like
'Found it.'

'Interesting things that I wouldn't even dream of working with if I was an ordinary human in a world where magic doesn't exist.'
Kyriaki maintained her poker face as she carefully handled each and every ingredient, step by step making her potion in a calm manner.
Boom!
As she was about to put acid rain soaked Tempest mushrooms together with Egg plat flowers into the calderon, A huge noise distracted Kyriaki's focus. She closed her eyes, trying to calm her anger down as mummers once again filled the air after an hour of silence.
"It looks like Lord Euclid blew up his conical flask."
"Huh? Seriously?"
"What the hell did he do to cause something like that?"
"Right? What was in there anyway?"
"It had tears of a Storm monkey, you idiots. I guess he overheated it."
"You talk as if you are the God of Alchemy, but you still can't filter your Mana."
"Shut up!"
Kyriaki opened her eyelids, revealing golden pupils that looked more stunning than a yellow sapphire.
'It's okay… it seems to be an idiot had heated Monkey tears in more than 10°C for three minutes.'
She then resumed to work as if she couldn't hear or see anything except her potion's progress. She felt as if something blew up once again, but her focus was too great for her to pay attention to the surroundings at that point. She pushed back everything in a second as she meticulously followed every step that was given to her in the booklet.
And finally, four minutes before the clock announced the end of the class, Kyriaki raised her head while pulling away safety goggles in one hand. In her other hand, she held a vial with pastel blue liquid that smelled like grilled beef and fried eggs.
"Professor Acacia, May I present to you my first potion?" However instead of showing her joy like any other kid, Kyriaki calmly glanced at Acacia.
Because she knew, this wasn't the best. So there was no need to be joyful. For her, who seeks near perfection, she just needed an honest review at that point.
The desire to make Lightning bombs as backup was pushed back by the desire for making more and more potions that's near perfection.
Kyriaki, without her knowing it, had enjoyed her time while making the potion. Much to her puzzlement. She felt as if she had found another enjoyable hobby that could be added to the remaining ones.
"...Hmmm." Acacia softly hummed as she took the vial from Kyriaki's hand.
"76% lightning immunity…and the color is too dark. The smell is a bit strong too. Do you know what that means, student Kyriaki?"
When Acacia asked without even looking at her, Kyriaki remained calm as she nodded.
"Yes. A normal
A silence, different from the first time she proposed the idea of bomb making, settled in the lab.
Acacia, who was studying the vial with narrowed eyes finally glanced at Kyriaki.
Stunning champagne met mesmerizing gold.
"Correct. It's a failed potion in the standards of a high level potion." Acacia admitted.
"Well then—"
"BUT!," She cut in. "It's not bad for a beginner, especially if it's your first poison. This one can be graded as Mid level, and believe me when I say it takes years for one to climb to this level."
Kyriaki tilted her head, unable to understand where the conversation was going.
"In the first place, I never said which level of a potion you should make. I was hoping for something below the lowest grade, or even an explosion like Student Euclid and Kyrios did." Acacia smiled for the first time since they met.
Loud gasps were heard around her as Kyriaki frowned. She too was mesmerized by her beautiful smile, but the matter they were discussing concerned her first ever potion, there was no time to admire the beauty of the judge.
"Well, student Kyriaki, you are welcome to use the lab. You can contact me if you need any help. And…five points for the mid-level potion." Acacia said as a matter of fact and clapped her hand once as she looked around.
"Alright, class ends for today. Let's meet in two days, children."
