"Damon!" Rhea shouted as she ran to him, with her other children close behind—everyone except Zeus, who looked irritated just by Damon being there. Rhea pulled Damon into a tight hug and then inspected him carefully, because the last time he'd shown up after disappearing like this, he'd returned with his arm completely broken.
"Where have you been?" Rhea asked, worried, her eyes scanning his body as she searched for any sign of an injury.
"Learning how to handle my weapon," he answered, forcing a smile to calm her down.
"And how did it go?" Poseidon asked his older brother.
"Better than I expected, honestly," Damon replied simply. "I've learned a lot of new moves, and now I understand better how to use it at the right moments."
"I'm glad things went well for you, Damon," Hades said as he guided him toward the table. "But right now we're in trouble, and we need you more than ever."
But before Damon could even take a full step, Hera suddenly stopped him and slapped him hard across the face, tears shining in her eyes.
"Where have you been all this time?" Hera yelled. "Not even the nymphs were able to find you! Do you have any idea how worried we were? IDIOT!"
"He—" Hestia tried to speak, but Damon stopped her so he could answer Hera himself.
"I'm sorry for worrying you, Hera… but it was something I had to do," Damon said, lowering his gaze, afraid to meet her tear-filled eyes. "If I hadn't completely hidden my presence, the Titans might've found me, and that would've gotten me into trouble. I'm truly sorry."
Hera's expression cracked. She moved in quickly and wrapped her arms around him, still crying.
Damon hugged her back right away, apologizing again and again—not just for worrying her, but for worrying all his brothers and sisters too.
Damon promised to make this up to Hera eventually.
"I hate to be so unsentimental," Hades said, "but now really isn't the time for this."
Then he added, more seriously, "Still… I'd like you to teach me how to hide my presence that well. It would be a huge help, especially together with the Helm. It would make me far more unpredictable."
Damon nodded
Not long after, they all gathered around the great table again to plan a new strategy—this time, with Damon finally back with them.
The war map looked wrong. Too many markers missing. Too many lines pushed back toward Olympus.
Damon exhaled once. "I'm gone for three years… and we lose everything we won at the start."
Hera wiped her face with the heel of her hand, "We're not you, Damon. The second they realized you weren't here, they stopped hesitating."
"We were hoping you could fix it." Said Poseidon nervously
"hahaha, Don't worry, it's fixable with what I have learned so far. Titans like Prometheus and others are no issue for me anymore."
Zeus, leaning back with a smug expression, raised his eyebrow. "And what have you learned, if I may ask, Damon? You didn't think it important to inform your king that you would be off training???
Damon remained unfazed, looking at Zeus straight in the eyes. "What I learned will be shown on the battlefield. You should remember, Zeus, that power without understanding is dangerous, especially for one who aspires to wear a crown."
Zeus took this personally, his smile slowly fading away. "Hmph, and what makes you think you can, when we couldn't do it? Titans, we're now winning even with your help. I doubt we can make any progress; they surely won't back down after all the progress they made.
With a small chuckle, "We all have strengths, but I'm not in this looking for a throne, and neither should you be. The Titans are relentless, but with strategy, they can be outmaneuvered. Just don't let your pride cloud your judgment when we face them, Zeus."
Poseidon exchanged a wary glance with Hades, sensing the rising tension, while Zeus clenched his jaw, the challenge igniting a spark of competitive fire in his eyes.
Damon looked at him, steady and smiled, "Because now I have absolute power, and they can suck it, simple as that."
As the atmosphere shifted, the urgency of their mission loomed larger than their bickering. Damon's confidence, coupled with his humor, was a beacon.
For the first time in years, with Damon standing at the table again, calm, steady, and confident, hope flickered in the hearts of the gods.
The battle began shortly after Damon's arrival, something the Titans hadn't expected.
"Look what crawled back from the shadows," snarled Menoetius, Titan of reckless rage. His voice dripped with contempt, eyes blazing as he stepped forward.
As Damon advanced, each step pressed down the chaos around him. The air shimmered with anticipation. "I know what it's like to feel victory linger just within reach, to savor the anticipation. But destiny arrives all the same."
Menoetius's grin split wide, a flash of sharp teeth against the tension. The nearby Titans shifted uneasily, exchanging glances. Even Gods from other pantheons were watching, surprised that Damon was back.
"And now it's here… or should I say, I am,"
