Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: A myth within a myth.

Inside the Museum

"What do you think, Percy?... None of this will be useful to you in the future?"

The voice of an adult was heard while the laughter and murmurs of several students no older than fourteen could be heard.

Perseus Jackson, a twelve-year-old boy with short dark hair, pale skin that made his hair color stand out even more, and intense green eyes, was hating being in this situation right now. Why did he have to ask him?

"I..." he said while lowering his gaze a little so as not to meet Mr. Brunner's, his History teacher, who was the one who had asked him the question.

"I don't know," Percy finally answered, receiving a sad look from Mr. Brunner and his friend Grover without realizing it.

"Alright, you have an hour to look around the museum or eat something," said the teacher in the wheelchair.

Percy decided to keep looking around the museum for a while with his friend Grover before going out to eat something.

To be honest, Greek mythology did not interest him much, but he had to admit that there was something in the museum that caught his attention the moment he saw it: a sculpture of a katana with the blade and hilt white as snow, with black ornaments on the handle along with a black chain at the end of the grip holding a jewel as red as blood itself.

He walked toward that sculpture, but its display was rather hidden, as if they were deliberately keeping it out of other people's sight, though he did not give it much importance either.

The only thing on his mind was seeing the katana again in full detail, since the last time he saw it from far away.

He was a little surprised when he found a blond, black-clad man standing with his back to him looking at that sculpture. He did not pay it much mind and stepped closer to look at it up close.

As he approached, he could see letters above the sculpture that, for some reason, he understood: Damon

When he was little he had watched some movies about Greek mythology, like Disney's Hercules and others, and he had never heard the name Damon anywhere.

He started looking around just in case this was not a sculpture related to Greek mythology, but he saw nothing indicating that he was in a different section of the museum, which was quite strange in his head.

A katana in Greek mythology? How could that have gone unnoticed? Who did that katana belong to? Was Damon the name of the katana or its owner?

Many unanswered questions crossed his mind, ironic, he had never been interested in any of this, yet here he was wracking his brain because of something related to mythology.

"Grover, do you know anything about this?" Percy finally asked to satisfy his curiosity.

On the other hand, Grover had never expected this question. He thought it was strange that Percy came here instead of going out to eat something, he only followed him so he would not get into trouble, but when he saw where he was heading it scared him a little, and even more when he saw the man.

He did not know why, but he knew he was strong... he did not feel anything divine or anything related to a monster from him, he simply gave off that aura that made you think you were nothing against him and forced him to stay on guard.

Before Grover could say anything, a familiar voice to both teenagers was heard.

"A myth within a myth."

When they heard Mr. Brunner's voice, they turned around and saw him approaching them in his wheelchair, even gaining the blond's attention, who took off his headphones to listen to the man in the wheelchair.

"Damon."

Kurama's voice was heard inside the blond's head.

"I can feel a similar aura between you and the one in the wheelchair."

"I'm not sure," Damon replied mentally. "I think it's my half-brother Chiron."

"Damon, Kronos's firstborn, who defeated Atlas and Kronos twice by himself, traveled to Tartarus and freed the Hecatoncheires so that they would join him in the war against the Titans and, when he won, left without a trace... disappearing from history," Mr. Brunner continued.

Pulling Damon out of his mental conversation with Kurama and astonishing Percy with Damon's story. "This was his divine weapon," he said, pointing at the katana inside the display case. "The myths say that katana was capable of cutting through everything in its path, nothing could resist it."

"Wow... why have I never heard anything about him before, I mean, there are lots of movies and lots of games about Greek mythology, but he is never mentioned, and even more so being the one who defeated the two strongest Titans by himself, and I don't think it's the only katana mentioned in Greek mythology," Percy said.

"As I told you before, Percy, a myth within a myth... no one is able to say for certain that he really existed," Mr. Brunner replied with sorrow in his voice, something noticed by the blond.

Now Damon only felt a little depressed. Were people really doubting his existence? His own brothers too?... Even his own family? Now that he thinks about it, he had never been mentioned anywhere on the internet regarding Greek mythology... it even said that Kronos and Rhea had six children.

He tried to push those depressing thoughts out of his mind by looking at the boy beside him, who kept staring at the sculpture of his katana, and he only had one thing clear... that boy was his nephew.

The son of his brother Poseidon. He had no doubt that if Poseidon came right now at twelve years old he would be almost his twin, not counting the fact that he had a very faint aura of Poseidon, but he could feel it.

"Hey, kid."

Damon spoke now to catch Percy's attention, and he could notice how Grover and Mr. Brunner tensed when he addressed the boy, but he did not care much.

"What do you think?"

"About what?" Percy asked carelessly.

Grover looked worriedly at Mr. Brunner, who was staring constantly at the blond man. There was something about that man telling him he should not bother him.

Did Percy not feel it? There were only two explanations: either he was too much of an idiot to listen to his danger senses or he truly did not feel the same thing he did.

"About Damon. Do you think he existed?" Damon replied casually.

Percy raised an eyebrow, it was a rather strange question in his opinion.

"I don't think the Greek gods really exist."

"I see," said the blond while taking his gaze away from the sculpture of his katana to look the boy in the eyes.

When Percy's eyes met the blond man's, he could feel his whole body tense unconsciously. He had never seen such blue eyes in his life, he could swear that if the museum were completely dark, those eyes would be able to glow.

Damon noticed how the boy tensed under his gaze and smiled kindly to calm the boy's nerves.

"Imagine that the Greek gods exist, would you believe in him?"

He asked again, making a small gesture with his head toward the sculpture when he repeated the question.

Percy relaxed a little and thought of an answer to the blond's question, one that did not take him long to say.

"My mother always told me that in every myth there is always some truth."

He stopped for a moment to think about his next words.

"If the gods existed, I would also believe that Damon exists."

All the Bijuu together with Damon smiled at the boy's words, since at least he knew someone who would not deny his existence.

"Your mother is an intelligent woman."

Percy smiled at the blond's words. Sally Jackson, his mother, was the person he loved most in the world, and hearing someone praise her was a good feeling.

"Thanks," Perseus replied, returning the smile.

"Percy, let's go eat something, break time is almost over," said Grover, trying to convince Percy to leave here.

"My name is Percy Jackson," the boy spoke again while extending his hand to shake it with the blond man standing in front of him. "And you?"

Damon extended his hand to shake it with the boy.

"Naruto Uzumaki."

"It's been a pleasure, Naruto, I hope we see each other again," Percy said quickly, since Grover was pulling him to get him outside, leaving Mr. Brunner and Damon alone.

They remained silent for a few minutes while looking at the sculpture. Damon could notice sadness in Chiron's eyes and decided to break the silence.

"Well, I'll be going too."

He pulled the teacher from his thoughts and received a nod.

Damon began walking away from Mr. Brunner, not before glancing back to see him still looking at the sculpture.

"I'm glad you're well, Chiron."

When those words reached Chiron's ears, he turned his neck so fast that if someone had seen it they would have said he had broken it. When he looked in the direction where the blond should have been... there was no one there.

Hours later, the museum trip ended for the students and they all seemed to be chatting amicably in groups, except for a certain black-haired boy with green eyes, who seemed to have a distant look, paying attention to nothing in particular, lost in his own thoughts.

"His presence is stronger now than before," Gyuki said in a serious voice while looking through Damon's eyes at the scene.

"Something must have happened once he left with the satyr," Damon replied.

"I felt a threatening presence inside the museum... it may have tried to attack the demigod," Kaia commented.

"I hope nothing happens to him, I suppose Chiron will keep him safe now and take him to that camp... I think I'll go too."
