With Damon, Kaia, and Orien
Damon had just had his first interaction with a deity from his world after a very long time, and none other than Artemis. He knew a little about the new gods of his pantheon thanks to Amaterasu...
It was the only thing he paid attention to when a new familiar acted as a listener, but if it was something related to Zeus or other matters where he would most likely end up pissed off, he simply stopped her or did not pay attention.
But going back to the encounter, Artemis was clearly Leto's daughter. They were like two drops of water, with some physical changes like the color of the eyes. Damon could still remember the two hyperactive sisters, Leto and Asteria, spying on him when he was training or bathing in a waterfall, encouraging others to do the same... a smile appeared on the blond's face because of his memories... he missed those times.
"She is not a bad woman."
Kaia's voice pulled Damon from his thoughts; he glanced at the she-wolf out of the corner of his eye, but remained silent to let her continue.
"Back then, being a female deity tended to be looked down on by other gods... I am sure that even today there are some gods who still look down on women, whether they are goddesses or not," Kaia continued.
Damon frowned. "I suppose she did not have it easy."
"No..." the great white she-wolf simply replied.
Silence invaded the place, broken only by the branches of the trees creaking under Damon's weight as he jumped on them and the fallen leaves on the ground breaking under the footsteps of Kaia and Orien.
"Damon, we are not the right ones to tell you about her, it is better if she tells you herself."
Orien's voice was heard joining the conversation, knowing that the silence caused by the blond was so Kaia could continue. Orien knew a little about Artemis; he had been beside her on numerous occasions in the past and would not lie in saying that she was one of the few deities he respected.
He owed her for taking care of the wolves in his absence, and the least he could do was let Artemis herself tell her own story.
"I do not think she wants to talk to me," Damon replied.
"The pack is always around her, sooner or later you will meet again."
He sighed. "I promise nothing."
"Why are all women so troublesome?"
That comment made both wolves smile. Damon could swear he heard the laughter in his mind of a certain maniacal tanuki, which was quickly silenced.
The blond stopped abruptly, puzzling the wolves, who stopped and looked at him to know what was happening. Orien even began to sniff to see whether he could perceive the scent of some monster he had not been able to sense, but he tracked nothing.
"I think going to that camp is not a good idea," the blond said, gaining the canines' attention. "Going without knowing the current language... would draw too much attention, something I do not want right now."
"What are you going to do now?" the black wolf asked.
"I suppose I will go to some place populated by humans to learn the language and then head to that camp. I suppose I will also try to learn something first about... Greek mythology?" the blond answered, scrunching his face a little in confusion at the last part, not entirely sure he remembered the exact words said by Uranus.
"Where will you go?" Orien asked again.
Damon pointed in the direction, since he did not know what the place he wanted to go to was called.
"It is the closest populated place to Olympus," he said, receiving a nod from the great black wolf.
"I will stay here, with the pack."
As soon as he said that, Damon nodded and several wolves came out of the bushes to join them.
Damon walked up to Orien and stroked him between the ears. "Be careful, this world has changed... more than I would like."
"I can tell," Orien replied with a low growl, observing the forest around him. "It smells bad. After getting used to the environment of the Norse and the Shinto, coming back here leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
Damon remained silent for a few seconds before moving his hand away from his head. "I will fix it."
Orien and the wolves disappeared into the brush, leaving Kaia and Damon alone as they headed toward their new destination without any hurry. The polluted air did not sit well with Damon and he would have to get used to it before he could do anything to fix that... without a doubt, he would.
Timeskip 3 Months, New York
Three months passed since Damon arrived in New York and he had to admit that, once you got used to it, you could say the city was quite beautiful. The city lights at night fascinated him, and the amount of human life had surprised him at first.
He had never seen so many mortals together in his life without trying to kill each other, and at night the city was still alive... but he was still annoyed.
To build the whole city they had to destroy the nature of the area in order to construct the buildings, but at least in the city where he was they respected nature to a certain point, leaving a huge park in Manhattan.
He used Central Park as his temple for when he wanted to disconnect from the city; after all, he still preferred staying close to nature.
Then there was the clothing of that world.
He had seen people dress strangely before, but here there was everything; you could run into a teenager dressed in black with something gray to match in a very simple way, or you would see another dressed like a rainbow with legs... the worst part was that it looked good on them. How? Don't ask.
Because of that he realized, or at least suspected, that some gods were associated with human companies, like for example Nike, a sports clothing brand that humans usually wore both for sports and simply to go out; it had the name of a goddess... Nike, the goddess of victory, athletic competitions, and military disputes.
He bought clothes to try to go unnoticed. He never thought it would not matter what he wore, people would stare at him anyway, especially the female population. But well, the fact that he walked beside a completely white she-wolf, a little bigger than a normal dog, would draw attention regardless.
He could still remember when some police officers approached to fine him for having a dangerous species loose, as they called it..... And if you add the fact that they were afraid to get close to her in case she bit them, well, it creates an awkward and funny situation at the same time.
But well, to this day he still did not tie her with a leash and never would; a little genjutsu combined with that strange mist and people would see whatever he wanted them to see.
Ohh, genjutsu... never in his life had he made so much use of the mark on his left hand as in these last few months. Chakra in his pantheon, along with the Norse pantheon, was almost nonexistent, making living beings incapable of using it for their own benefit, but there was enough chakra for them to be affected by simple genjutsu, making receptionists see this country's money... also known as the dollar.
At first it was quite fun, in his opinion; almost always the female clerks wanted to start a conversation with him while he tried to "pay."
It was entertaining, but he really had no desire to start a relationship with a mortal at the moment, though nothing stopped them from asking for his phone number in case he changed his mind in the future. None of them got it, since he did not know what a phone number was... it did not take him long to discover one of the things he liked most about this pantheon.
Smartphone... What kind of genius invented that work of art? And the internet?... He could stay in constant contact with a person on the other side of the world and with the internet he had all the knowledge he needed within reach through something tiny and a screen that worked with your finger.
One of the best inventions he had seen in his life, he could even read stories on Webnovel. XD

Going back to Damon, he was currently walking toward his objective while browsing the internet on his phone. His clothing had not changed much, he was wearing the same jacket, which he was now grateful for since it was the middle of winter.
The only things that changed were the pants, sneakers, and shirt. Now he wore sweatpants tightened around the ankles, black with white details, black and red sneakers, and a red shirt hidden almost completely by the black fur jacket.
"Zeus has more children than neurons," Damon muttered while continuing to read. He had not looked too deeply yet, since he had first tried to learn everything about the world, the progress it had made, and part of its history.
He was quite surprised when he saw Greece placed on a map. When he had been here so many years ago, in the war against the Titans, he thought they were gigantic lands; now you compare it with the United States and they seem like nothing.
The United States was almost as big as or bigger than all of Europe, and as for Russia, don't even get him started, a country covering that much territory... he was sure Russia was almost as big as or a little smaller than the elemental nations.
What he had looked up from Greek mythology were the gods along with their domains and different heroes, and almost all the ones he had seen so far were children of Zeus.
"I am starting to get the feeling that if you lift a rock, seven of his children will appear," the Sanbi commented, quite interested in learning the history of the pantheon where Damon was born.
"Seven? I think you are being conservative," Son Goku replied now with sweat drops on the back of his neck.
Damon did not pay much attention to the conversation of his tenants, since he was arriving at his objective: the museum of New York.
