Chapter 38 - So This Is The Boys Universe?

Billy Butcher appeared ruthless—merciless when dealing with Supes.

But beneath that brutality was a man thoroughly humiliated.

Because the one who had cuckolded him—

Was none other than Homelander, the apex of The Seven and the most powerful Supe alive.

Homelander had coerced Butcher's wife by threatening Butcher's life.

Worse—

He got her pregnant.

One shot.

A natural-born Supe son.

The irony was savage.

Driven by the fury of "you stole my wife," Butcher assembled a mixed team of civilians and Supes—

The Boys.

Their ultimate goal:

Kill Homelander.

But Homelander was too powerful.

The gap between them was obscene.

The Boys fought.

Lost.

Fought again.

Lost again.

Until—

Butcher uncovered rumors of a long-buried "weapon" once tied to the former Payback team—something that might stand against Homelander.

They tracked it down.

In modern-day Russia.

With assistance from Queen Maeve's supply of temporary Compound V—

Butcher and Hughie Campbell, now temporarily enhanced Supes, led Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko into the facility.

An old, dim laboratory—frozen in Soviet-era design.

When Butcher tore open the rusted coffin-like containment pod—

He didn't find a weapon.

He found—

"Holy shit."

"Soldier Boy?!"

"He's alive?!"

Butcher, Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie all stared in disbelief.

Only Kimiko tilted her head curiously—

Examining the absurdly handsome man inside.

"Hey, bro. I'm alive. Surprised?"

Leon—currently inhabiting Soldier Boy's identity—stepped out wearing nothing but his Ultra-Elastic Fiber Undergarment.

His body looked sculpted from marble.

Intimidating.

Perfect.

"I'm Soldier Boy. Who the hell could kill me?"

"You? Or you?"

"Bunch of pathetic weaklings."

He glanced down at himself.

"Do you not see I'm naked?"

He locked onto Butcher's black leather coat.

"That one's mine."

"Hey—easy, mate," Butcher raised both hands while backing up. "There are uniforms on the corpses. Take one of those."

Leon closed the distance instantly.

Grabbed Butcher by the collar.

Lifted him one-handed into the air.

"I want this one."

The atmosphere snapped tight.

Hughie teleported in a flash—arriving beside Leon, completely naked as usual.

"Let him go!"

He grabbed Leon's arm, trying to pry it loose.

"Don't provoke him!" Butcher barked—but too late.

"Oh?" Leon glanced sideways at Hughie, amused.

"You've got teleportation and instead of running, you blink right next to me?"

His grip didn't budge.

The strength gap was obvious.

"Brave," Leon said calmly.

"But I wasn't talking to you."

BAM—

He kicked.

The impact nearly punched through Hughie's abdomen.

Hughie flew backward like artillery, smashed through a wall—

Silence.

"Hughie!!!"

Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and Butcher shouted simultaneously.

Gunfire erupted.

Tat-tat-tat—

Bullets hammered Leon's back.

At the same time, Butcher unleashed twin orange-red heat vision beams at point-blank range—

Aided by Temp V.

Kimiko clawed, bit, elbowed—

Attacking with everything she had.

Did it matter?

No.

After more than ten seconds of sustained assault—

Mother's Milk and Frenchie ran dry on ammunition.

Butcher's heat vision overloaded; he was forced to shut his eyes.

"Wow~"

Leon tilted his head slightly.

"What were those beams? Glow sticks?"

"They felt kind of nice. Don't stop. Keep firing."

"Just a little longer—I'm almost getting the hang of it."

He barely acknowledged Kimiko, who was still biting him like an angry raccoon.

To him, she was just an accessory.

When The Boys realized—

They hadn't even scratched him—

Hope and despair struck simultaneously.

"How…?"

Butcher couldn't believe it.

His heat vision wasn't Homelander-level—

But at least sixty to seventy percent of it.

And he'd aimed directly at Leon's eyes—

Theoretically the most vulnerable point.

Nothing.

Even Homelander wasn't this durable.

At that moment—

Butcher abandoned the idea of fighting head-on.

There was no shame in surviving.

Killing Homelander remained the priority.

If Soldier Boy was this powerful—

He could be the perfect weapon.

"Listen to me," Butcher rasped. "After Vought announced your death, they created a replacement—he's—ugh!"

Leon released the collar—

And instead clamped a hand around Butcher's throat.

Slowly tightening.

"I told you to keep shooting."

"Do you not understand English?"

"Now. Immediately."

"Shoot me."

Golden light flickered in Leon's eyes.

It tried to condense—

Failed.

Scattered.

"Fuck—!"

Butcher felt death closing in.

Desperation triggered survival instinct.

With a strained charge—

Twin heat beams fired again.

SZZZZT—

"That's more like it!"

Leon's smile widened.

He absorbed the energy directly through his eyes—

Letting the Starlight Template drink in the power.

His expression grew increasingly exhilarated.

He was almost—

High.
