Chapter 11 - Crush Alert 1

"Ugh, why does this new guy have to be so... annoying?" I thought, rolling my eyes as I watched him walk into our school like he owned the place. Rich, hot, and thinks he's God's gift. His name is Austin Chase. His eyes scanned the hallway, and when they landed on me... nope, not interested.

My ex-bestie, Mary, swooped in like a vulture. Mary and I started talking she came back from her one-month suspension, and she's changed, I hoped, at least

"OMG!!, have you seen him?" she whispered.

I shrugged, "He's fine, I guess."

Then, he spotted me in class, and it was like I was the only one there. Started sending me notes and stuff.

Me: "Leave me alone."

Him: "Can't help it."

"...and Mary's like, 'Girl, he's totally into you!'

'No way, he's just annoying', I said, but he's persistent, I'll give him that . Kept sending me gifts and stuff, and my friends are like, 'Why are you being so mean?'

Then, he corners me at lunch, 'Look, I know you're interested'.

I was like, 'Dude, I literally hate you' .

He laughs and says, 'That's cute' .

Mary's getting salty , keeps saying I'm 'playing hard to get'.

Newsflash: I'm not playing . She's been eyeing him since day one, and now she's all, 'You don't deserve him' .

My friends are Team New Guy, obviously . 'He's hot, he's rich, he's into you – what's not to like?'.

'You guys don't understand', I'd say, but they'd laugh it off.

He shows up at my locker, 'Hey, can we talk?' .

I said, 'Nope'.

He smiles, 'Okay, I'll wait' .

My brother sees and is like, 'You okay?'.

I nodded, 'Yeah, just annoying guy' .

"I think he likes you", he says then walks away.

(By the way, Samuel travelled to another country with his family)

Mary's trying to get his attention, laughing extra loud and stuff . He's not buying it, keeps looking at me . My friends are betting on us . DRAMA

At the school party, he's there, looking fine . Mary's all over him . He excuses himself and comes to me,

'Dance?' .

I said, 'Hell no Austin' .

He laughs, 'Okay, I'll just watch then' .

Mary's mad, storms off .

He's like, 'Guess I'm free?' .

I rolled my eyes,'Don't get ideas' .

He smirks, 'Too late sweetie'.

Sigh, this guy is getting more and more annoying.

"The party's getting wild, and he's still hovering. My friends are like, 'Come on, just talk to him'.

I told them, 'Nope, I'm good'. Mary's giving me daddy vibes, glaring from across the room.

He saunters over, 'Mind if I join you?'.

I shrugged, 'Suit yourself'. My friends scatter like rats, leaving us 'alone'. He starts talking about... I don't know, something. I'm zoning out when he says, 'So, why do you hate me?'

I looked up, 'You just think you're all that, right?'.

He laughs, 'Maybe a little'.

I rolled my eyes, 'Annoying', I muttered under my breath.

Suddenly, Mary crashes in, 'Hey, can I steal him?'.

He smiles, 'Actually, I was just leaving'. Oops, burn. She huffs off.

He leans in, 'Want to get out of here?'. I was like, 'What, are you crazy?'.

He winks, 'Maybe'.

My heart's like... nope, not happening.

My brother appears, 'You good?'. I nodded, 'Yeah, let's go'. He's got me.

Outside, my friends are like, 'Spill the tea'.

I was all, 'Nothing happened'. They're like, 'Liar'.

Next day, Austin's at my locker, 'Want to grab coffee?'.

He's still there, looking hopeful. "No" I say, trying to sound firm.

He smiles, "Okay, maybe next time".

Ugh, why's he so...

My friends are Team New Guy all the way. "Girl, you're crazy".

I was like, "He's just annoying".

They're all, "He's fine and you know it".

I walked away from my locker, trying to shake off the weird vibe. He called out, "Hey, wait up!" but I kept walking. My brother was watching from afar, eyes narrowed.

At lunch, my friends were still going on about him. "Seriously, why are you playing it cool?" one of them asked.

I shrugged, "I just don't feel it."

Mary slid into the cafeteria, looking smug. "Hey, guys, I went on a date with Austin last night." My friends' eyes widened, and I felt... nothing.

My friends were like, "Are you okay?"

I nodded, "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" They knew me too well, though.

The date must've gone well because they're posting pics and stuff. Me? I was home, binge-watching Netflix.

Next day, Mary's all smiles. "Guess someone's got a new BF." I smiled back, "Congrats."

He shows up at my locker again. "Hey, can we talk?"

I sighed, "What about?"

"Look, I know you like me," he said, smirking.

I laughed, "Dude, I don't."

He raised an eyebrow, "Then why are you jealous?"

Jealous? Me? no, not at all. "I'm just not interested," I said firmly.I kept going with the story:

He chuckled, "Okay, I'll wear you down."

I rolled my eyes, "Good luck with that."

He smiled, "I'll need it."

My brother popped up, "Hey, what's going on?"

He glanced at me, "Just trying to convince your sister to give me a chance."

He laughed, "Good luck with that."

I shook my head, "Nope, not happening."

He shrugged, "Worth a shot."

My friends dragged me to a party that night. "Come on, let's go and have fun."

I was like, "Fine, but no drama."

Guess who was there? Mr. Persistent himself. He sauntered over, "Hey, glad you came."

I shrugged, "Didn't have a choice."

He leaned in, "Want to dance?"

I said, "No thanks."

He smiled, "Okay, I'll just watch then."

My friends were like, "Girl, he's so into you."

I said, "He's just not taking no for an answer."

The night went on, and he was still hovering. My friends were getting tired of me saying no. "Just give him a chance," they said.

I sighed, "Fine. One dance."

He grinned, "That's all I need."

He took my hand, pulling me onto the dance floor.

I told him, "This doesn't mean anything."

He smiled, "I know, just enjoying the moment."

The music was loud, and we were dancing close. He leaned in, whispering, "You're really something, you know?"

I shrugged, "Thanks?"

My friends were cheering us on, and Mary looked like she'd swallowed a lemon. Not my problem.

After the dance, he asked, "Want to get air?" I nodded, and we stepped outside. It was quieter, just the sounds of the night.

He leaned against the wall, "So, what's it gonna take?"

I raised an eyebrow, "For what?"

"For you to give me a shot." He looked hopeful.

I sighed, "Look, I'm just not interested in playing games."

He pushed me gently against the wall, "I'm not playing games. I like you."

My heart skipped a beat, but I wasn't having it. "Too bad I don't like you," I said, trying to sound firm.

He smiled, "Liar."

He took a step closer, his eyes locked on mine. "You're not fooling anyone, you know." His voice was low, and I could feel my pulse kicking up.

I raised my chin, "I'm not lying. I just don't see you that way."

He chuckled, "That's okay, I see you for both of us."

Ugh, why was he so... infuriating? I pushed against his chest, "Look, just back off, okay?"

He caught my wrist, his touch sending sparks through me. "Nope, not until you admit it." His face was inches from mine.

My breath caught, and for a second, I thought... nope. I pulled free, "Admit what? That you're delusional?"

He laughed, low and husky. "That you like me."

My friends chose that moment to burst out, "Hey, what's going on?"

He grinned, "Just getting her to admit she's into me."

They laughed, and I rolled my eyes, "Not happening."

My friends dragged me away, laughing and teasing me. "Girl, he's so into you!" They were like a broken record.

He called out, "See you tomorrow!" I just shook my head.

Next day, he was at my locker again. "Hey, so..."

I cut him off, "Look, can we just be clear? I'm not interested. Not now, not ever."
