Cherreads

Chapter 50 - Chapter : 7 [The Time Travel] (Extended Part - ll)

The Skyscrapers of Seoul:

The years in Busan flew by like a beautiful montage of shared lunches, library study sessions, and walks along the beach. Because Cherry had successfully prevented the move to Incheon, she and Jung-Hun grew up side-by-side. By the time high school graduation arrived, they weren't just childhood sweethearts; they were each other's best friends and fiercest supporters.

However, life has a way of testing even the strongest bonds. The next step of their journey took them to the heart of South Korea: Seoul.

The Concrete Jungle:

Seoul was a whirlwind of neon lights, crowded subways, and a pace of life that made Busan feel like a quiet village. Jung-Hun had been accepted into the prestigious Architecture program at Seoul National University, while Cherry pursued her passion for International Relations and Literature.

For the first time, they weren't in the same classroom. They weren't even on the same campus.

The first few months were grueling. Jung-Hun's days were consumed by drafting tables, complex calculus, and late-night studio sessions. Cherry, remembering her original timeline where she had moved to Australia, felt a strange sense of guilt. She was happy here, but the pressure to succeed was immense. She wanted to prove that this "second chance" wasn't wasted on just romance, but on becoming the best version of herself.

The Test of Time:

One rainy Tuesday evening, Cherry waited for Jung-Hun at a small café in Gangnam. They had agreed to meet at 7:00 PM. By 8:30 PM, her coffee was cold, and her phone remained silent.

When Jung-Hun finally rushed in, soaked from the rain and looking exhausted, Cherry felt a flash of the old fear. In her "past" life, distance had separated them. Was the distance of a busy city going to do the same now?

"I'm so sorry, Cherry," Jung-Hun panted, sliding into the chair. "The professor changed the deadline for the skyscraper model. I couldn't leave the studio."

Cherry looked at his tired eyes and the ink stains on his fingers. "Jung-Hun, we barely talk anymore. We live in the same city, but I feel like you're a thousand miles away."

Jung-Hun took her hand. His grip was firm, just like it was the day they shook hands in Class 8. "I'm doing this for us, Cherry. Remember what I said by the river? I want to build our home. But to do that, I have to be the best. I don't want to just be a boy with a crush; I want to be a man who can give you the world."

Cherry realized then that the "Time Travel" hadn't made life easy; it had just given them a better starting point. The hard work was still theirs to do. "We have to be careful," she whispered. "The diamond gave us the time, but only we can give each other the attention."

A Family Reunited:

To keep their spirits high, Cherry's parents, Park Min-gu-wo and Park Sweeten, made good on their promise to visit. Since they hadn't moved to Incheon, the family was wealthier and more stable than in the previous timeline.

During a big family dinner in Seoul, Cherry's father raised a glass. "I look at you two," he said, smiling at Jung-Hun, "and I remember that day in Busan when Cherry insisted we stay. I didn't understand it then, but seeing you two together, seeing the success you're building... I think my daughter saw a future I couldn't."

Jung-Hun bowed respectfully to Cherry's parents. "Sir, thank you for trusting her. And thank you for trusting me with her."

The Shadow of the Past:

One night, while walking through a park near the Han River, Cherry saw a glint in the grass. For a split second, her heart stopped. Was it another diamond? Was the universe trying to pull her away again?

She ran to the spot and picked up the object. It was just a discarded glass bottle cap, reflecting the city lights. She leaned against a railing, breathing heavily.

Jung-Hun caught up to her, looking concerned. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Cherry said, tossing the glass away. "I just realized that I don't need magic anymore. I used to be afraid that if I didn't have that diamond, I'd lose you. But looking at you now, I realize we didn't stay together because of a switch I pressed. We stayed together because we chose to, every single day."

Jung-Hun pulled her into a hug as the lights of the Namsan Tower glowed in the distance. They were no longer the frightened children from Class 8. They were adults, standing in the middle of a vast, complicated world, holding onto each other with a grip that no timeline could ever loosen.

As the chapter ends, they stand on the brink of their professional lives. The struggle of university is almost over, but the biggest promise—the promise of a lifetime together—is finally within reach.
