The scent was a massive distraction, but I forced myself to focus on the presentation.

"It's been discussed already, so I have nothing else to add." As Alex spoke, I saw Ben's shoulders drop an inch. He looked immensely relieved to be ending the session on such a positive note.
"Good to hear it. Then that will be all. Ben, could you tell me which one of you has a bit of time now?" Xavier asked as he stood up, smoothing out the front of his expensive suit.
"Hmm. I believe that would be—" Ben looked directly at me, his expression already betraying his answer.
