"Sir, people could misunderstand what you just said about going if I go. I don't mind, since I know you say that because, for some reason, we kind of get along. But it may be interpreted differently by others." She made that unwilling face again, seemingly finding it hard to meet my eyes. "Also, you are not a child. If I don't go, you should still assist. The team is actually looking forward to seeing you there."
"I only said it to be nice, but I understand your concern. I wouldn't say that in front of everyone, so do not worry." Letting me step forward, she followed me and nodded, apparently at peace with my answer. I, however, was left with a puzzled sensation I couldn't quite recognise.
We walked past Eva's desk, greeting her as we entered my office. Once inside, I handed her notes back. "Here you go. Thank you, and I am sorry again for the delay."
"It is okay. I thankfully didn't need them yesterday."
