Chapter 26 - Eclipse

Jytenreu rampaged through the streets, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The remains of the 501st were scattered on the ground, a grim testament to the chaos that had unfolded. Buildings lay in ruins, their facades broken and crumbling, adding to the desolation of the once-vibrant city.

"That's enough, Nidhogg!" an android declared, stepping resolutely into the fray, a shield against the chaos. Her features were sharp and determined as she stood between Jytenreu and the remnants of the city.

"Who the hell are you?" Nidhogg growled, its voice a low rumble filled with menace.

"I am Yuvuel of Requiem," she stated, her voice steady. "I was the one who destroyed the other Tyrants, and I will do the same here." With a swift motion, several locks on the intricate case strapped to her back flipped open, and the doors of the container swung wide. Three weapons floated out gracefully, suspended in the air: a blade shimmering with deadly precision and a pair of massive cannons ready for battle.

Jytenreu snarled again, angry and relentless, and charged at the android, roaring, "I'll kill you!"

The air crackled with tension as Yuvuel met the Meteorn's assault head-on. She unleashed a barrage of slashes and strikes, her movements fluid and practiced. The two combatants clashed violently, their blades dancing in the air, fists meeting flesh with a thunderous impact.

With a sudden surge of energy, Jytenreu released a shockwave that blasted Yuvuel back, forcing her to quickly regain her balance. As she steadied herself, she fired several rounds from her cannons, each projectile finding its mark and impacting against the Meteorn's hardened exterior.

"Futile," Nidhogg spat, unleashing a shockwave of raw energy that tore through the buildings surrounding them, sending debris flying.

Yuvuel braced herself, shielding her body with her weapon as the shockwave crashed against her. The energy blast deflected off her blade and dissipated into the air.

"Your tricks won't work on me," she replied, her eyes steely with resolve.

Nidhogg charged once more, its maw opening wide to unleash a deadly scatter of energy beams. The android was quick on her feet, dodging low as the beams struck the building behind her, leaving smoldering craters in their wake.

"Impressive. You can dodge," Nidhogg taunted, a malicious grin stretching across its face.

"It's nothing I can't handle," Yuvuel replied, confidence radiating from her.

The Meteorn lunged forward, its massive, spiked tail sweeping through the air in an attempt to strike. Yuvuel leaped back just in time, narrowly avoiding the blow, but her eyes widened as she noticed one of her cannons caught in the jaws of the Meteorn's tail.

With a sinister grin, Jytenreu clamped down with its powerful jaw, crushing the cannon with ease. The android's glare intensified as she realized that the tail was a significant threat, and she had to act quickly.

"Not enough. I'm not done yet." Yuvuel raised her blade, its edge gleaming in the dim light of destruction. Confidence surged within her; she was the finest at taking down creatures like this.

"You can't stop me. Not after how far I've come," Nidhogg boasted, its energy escalating as the glow in its eyes intensified to a menacing red.

The Meteorn's aura filled the air around them, pressure building and causing the very ground to shake beneath them. Yuvuel held her ground, her own aura flaring as she prepared to neutralize Nidhogg's energy. The edge of her weapon glowed a vibrant blue, a promise of the power she wielded.

With a fierce battle cry, she charged, unleashing a flurry of precise strikes aimed at breaking through Jytenreu's defenses. Nidhogg parried and countered each blow with brutal efficiency, its maw firing bursts of energy with terrifying speed. Yuvuel felt the force of each strike, but she was quick and agile, dodging and blocking fiercely.

"Pathetic," Nidhogg sneered, its voice dripping with arrogance.

"You're the pathetic one, Nidhogg," Yuvuel retorted, smirking as the remaining cannon suddenly floated into her grasp. With a practiced motion, she combined it with her blade to create a single massive weapon, radiating power.

The newly formed weapon fired a concentrated beam that cut through the air, piercing through the Meteorn's tail and severing it clean off.

Jytenreu howled in agony as the tail fell to the ground, writhing in a final display of life. "You… damn thing!" it growled, fury lighting its eyes.

Yuvuel seized the opportunity, closing the distance between them and swinging her blade in a powerful arc aimed directly at her foe. Jytenreu raised its armored arm in defense, blocking the strike with its tough exoskeleton. The impact sent vibrations through the air, and Yuvuel's eyes widened as she realized her weapon's edge had chipped against the armor—a blow she hadn't anticipated.

Reacting quickly, she darted to the side, narrowly avoiding Nidhogg's retaliatory slashes and blows, their weapons clashing in a cacophony of violence. The ground beneath them shook with each powerful impact of their strikes, debris continuing to rain down.

"I've got you," Yuvuel declared, determination fuelling her attacks, her blade unleashing a cascade of energy. She cut through Nidhogg's defense with skill, her weapon piercing deep into the Meteorn's chest, causing its aura to flicker.

Nidhogg stumbled back, its breath ragged and uneven. "Almost there…"

"Enough," Yuvuel stated firmly. "I'm done with you."

Charging her weapon once more, the blade's edge radiated a brilliant blue light as she lunged forward, aiming to strike through the Meteorn's neck armor. However, just before her finishing blow could connect, the severed tail's mouth snapped open and fired a powerful burst of energy. Yuvuel barely managed to dodge, the energy grazing her side.

"Hehe... HAHAHA! HAHAHAHA! Foolish! You've just opened the door to hell…" Nidhogg taunted, its laughter echoing ominously through the air as its energy began to surge, the glow in its eyes transforming into an intense crimson hue.

Yuvuel's heart raced as she watched in horror—the Meteorn feasted upon its own severed tail, absorbing the residual energy and causing its aura to swell exponentially. The creature's form started to morph, engulfed in a shifting miasma of power that enveloped its body like a dark shroud.

The air around them thickened, heavy and oppressive, as Jytenreu's power reached a critical peak.

"What's happening?" Yuvuel thought, struggling to maintain her footing as her energy rapidly drained away and her body felt increasingly heavy.

"Warning: Resonance density levels have exceeded tolerance limits. Immediate evacuation recommended," an automated voice echoed in her mind, urging her to retreat from the escalating threat before her.

She charged her weapon, the energy pulsing through it as she pushed it into overdrive, creating a massive, radiant beam of power that surged forward. However, just as it was about to reach its target, the beam was abruptly halted, dispelled by a figure that materialized between her and her adversary.

"It's okay, Jytenreu. You may rest," the newcomer said soothingly, her voice cutting through the chaos like a calming balm. She gently placed her hand on Nidhogg's head, a gesture of comfort and reassurance. The towering Meteorn, once a formidable force, began to collapse to the ground, its vibrant aura fading as its energy was completely depleted.

Yuvuel stared at the figure before her, her heart racing, dread mingling with awe. Her eyes widened in recognition as she dropped her weapon in disbelief. "The Apocalypse class... Eclipse..." The name echoed in her mind, carrying with it the weight of legends.

Eclipse turned her piercing gaze toward Yuvuel, and in that moment, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. The air around her seemed to shimmer and distort, heavy with tangible pressure that made it difficult to breathe. Her presence radiated an almost unbearable intensity, as if the very air were igniting around her.

"Android," Eclipse declared, her voice resonating with a calm yet chilling authority, "I will say this once: return to us what you have taken. Further exploitation of him will not be tolerated. You may have attempted to eliminate our first in the past, but I will not allow such a tragedy to unfold again. You are given one chance to rectify the wrong inflicted by your creators." As she spoke, she raised her hand, and the air around her warped before she vanished along with her injured companion in a flash of distorted light.

Yuvuel sank to her knees, overwhelmed by the sudden release of pressure. As Eclipse disappeared, the suffocating energy dissipated, leaving the air clear and her senses slowly returning to normal. She picked up her weapon, taking a moment to organize her thoughts as she returned the blade and cannon to their respective compartments. A deep sigh escaped her lips, a mixture of relief and confusion. The battle, with all its fury, had come to an unexpected end.

"Him? What did that mean? Who could that be?" she pondered aloud, her mind racing to piece together Eclipse's implications.

Her gaze shifted toward the sky, where the sun slowly dipped below the horizon, casting vibrant hues of orange and purple across the fading light. Night was approaching, and with it, a sense of foreboding hung in the air, as if the world itself were holding its breath.
