The VIP vault of the Haddon Wedding Expo was a sanctuary of silence and unimaginable wealth. Thick, reinforced steel doors separated the chaos of the main hall from the millions of dollars worth of diamonds and rare gems kept inside. But today, the silence was broken by the sound of heavy breathing and the desperate clinking of metal.
Steve was huddled in the corner of the vault, his once-expensive Italian suit now wrinkled and stained with sweat. On the table in front of him lay a diamond necklace—his mother's heirloom. It was the last thing his family owned that hadn't been seized by the banks.
"Please, you have to give me at least five million for this," Steve pleaded with the vault manager. "It's a rare D-flawless stone! My father bought it for ten million!"
The vault manager, who had already heard the news of Aryan buying the entire Expo, looked at Steve with a mixture of pity and disgust. "Mr. Steve, the market has crashed. Your family name is poison now. I can't give you more than five hundred thousand."
"Five hundred thousand?! That's an insult!" Steve roared, slamming his fist on the table.
"It's not an insult, Steve. It's an overpayment."
The cold, calm voice came from the doorway. Steve froze. He turned slowly to see Aryan standing there, leaning against the heavy steel frame of the vault door.
Aryan looked like he had been carved out of ice—elegant, sharp, and deadly.
"Aryan..." Steve's voice was a pathetic whimper. "What are you doing here? This is a private area!"
"Actually, Steve," Aryan said, walking into the vault with his hands in his pockets, "this is my area. I just bought the building. The vault, the air you're breathing, and even that chair you're sitting on—it's all mine."
Aryan looked at the necklace on the table. He picked it up with two fingers, dangling it in front of Steve's eyes. "This is what it's come to? Selling your mother's memories to pay for your gambling debts?"
"Give that back!" Steve lunged for the necklace, but Aryan's head of security, a mountain of a man named Mark, stepped forward and pushed Steve back into his chair with a single hand.
Aryan sat on the edge of the table, looking down at Steve. "You remember that night in the rain, Steve? You told me I didn't belong in Maya's world. You told me a silver ring was trash because it didn't cost enough. You put your shoe on my hand... remember?"
Steve's eyes darted around, looking for an exit that wasn't there. "I... I was just joking, Aryan! We were brothers, right? We were friends! Maya... she was the one who pushed me! Take the necklace! Just let me go!"
Aryan let out a low, dark laugh. "Brothers? No, Steve. We were never brothers. You were a bully with a trust fund, and I was a boy who just wanted to save his sister."

Aryan looked at the vault manager. "How much did you offer him for this?"
"Five hundred thousand, Sir," the manager replied quickly.
Aryan turned to Steve. "I'll give you a million. But on one condition."
Steve's eyes lit up with a spark of desperate hope. "Anything! Just give me the money!"
Aryan pointed to the floor—the cold, hard marble of the vault. "Get down. On your knees. And apologize. Not just to me, but to every delivery boy you've ever insulted.
Every person you thought was beneath you because of the zeros in your bank account."
The color drained from Steve's face. "You want me to... to beg?"
"I want you to realize that without your father's money, you are nothing but a coward in a wrinkled suit," Aryan said, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Clock is ticking, Steve. In ten minutes, the police will be here to arrest your father, and they'll take you in as an accomplice. A million dollars can buy you a very good lawyer. Or... you can stay proud and go to prison broke."
Steve's pride struggled for a moment, but the fear of a cold jail cell won. Slowly, pathetically, he slid out of the chair and onto his knees. Tears of humiliation ran down his face.
"I'm... I'm sorry," Steve choked out. "I'm sorry, Aryan. I'm a loser. Please... give me the money."
Aryan looked down at him, feeling no joy, only a sense of finality. He threw the titanium card to the manager. "Transfer him one million. And then, throw him out through the service entrance. I don't want the guests to see him."

Aryan walked out of the vault, leaving Steve sobbing on the floor. As he stepped back into the main hall of the Expo, the crowd once again went silent. They saw the cold fire in his eyes and knew—the old Haddon City was gone. Aryan was the new law.
He stepped out into the night air. His phone buzzed. It was a message from the hospital. 'Mia is awake.'
A genuine smile finally touched Aryan's lips. The revenge was sweet, but his sister was everything.
"Mark," Aryan said to his security head as they reached the Lamborghini. "Buy the best private villa on the coast. I want Mia to wake up to the sound of the ocean, not the smell of a hospital."
"Consider it done, Sir," Mark replied.
Aryan looked up at the stars. The delivery boy was gone. The billionaire had arrived. And he was just getting started.
