Chapter 27 - Magic Lessons

Since arriving in this world, Luo Yu had actually never tried milk tea before. Now seemed like a perfect chance to let Ranni taste it as well.

After glancing at the items in Luo Yu's hands, Ranni turned to Miko Yotsuya and said calmly, "Then let's take a short break."

Luo Yu sat down and placed the milk tea on the table, along with the cakes he had picked up from a bakery.

"Here. This one is yours, Miko."

Seeing the cake and milk tea placed in front of her, Miko Yotsuya hurriedly accepted them.

"Thank you!"

Meanwhile, Ranni had already taken her own milk tea, inserted the straw, and taken a sip.

"The sweetness is pleasant, and the aroma of the tea leaves is quite rich. Very good."

She nodded in satisfaction before picking up her cake and beginning to eat.

After tasting a bite of cake himself, Luo Yu looked toward the two of them.

"So you've just started the beginner lesson. How is it going?"

Ranni set down her fork with elegant composure.

"I explained the fundamentals for about ten minutes. Soon we can begin the practical meditation stage. Although we haven't started yet, based on my examination, she should be able to grasp magical power for the first time today."

Luo Yu raised an eyebrow and looked at Miko Yotsuya with surprise.

"That's actually impressive. The magic of the Carian royal lineage is quite profound. Many of its principles are tied to the stars, the cosmos, and the origin of things. It's nothing like the cheap magic you see in movies or anime. If you can enter the basics this quickly, it seems Ranni considers you quite talented."

Miko Yotsuya blushed slightly at the praise, lowering her head.

"I—I'll do my best!"

After finishing the cake, Luo Yu asked Ranni to take Miko Yotsuya upstairs and find an empty room for instruction. Meanwhile, he would start preparing dinner.

Before the two went upstairs, Luo Yu said to Miko Yotsuya,

"Since today is your first day learning, it might take a little longer. Stay here for dinner tonight. Afterward, I'll personally take you home."

Seeing that Miko Yotsuya was about to refuse, Luo Yu immediately added,

"No need to decline. Since Ranni is teaching you magic, that means you're one of us now. This kind of thing isn't worth worrying about. Just call your family and let them know so they don't worry."

Miko Yotsuya hesitated for a moment and looked toward Ranni.

After Ranni also nodded, she could only accept their kindness.

Upstairs, Miko Yotsuya took out her phone and called her mother, explaining that she wouldn't be home for dinner.

The excuse she used was simple—she said she was going to karaoke with Hana Yurikawa and a few classmates, and that they would eat dinner outside.

Upon hearing that her daughter had made new friends, Miko Yotsuya's mother sounded pleased. After reminding her not to return too late, she hung up the phone.

Once the call ended, Miko Yotsuya looked toward Ranni standing in front of her.

"Miss Ranni… shall we begin now?"

Ranni nodded and pointed to the floor.

"Sit down. Relax. Meditation is not something rigid or solemn. You must calm both body and mind in order to do it properly."

"Alright!"

After Miko Yotsuya sat down, Ranni stepped behind her and gently placed one hand on the girl's head, guiding her into her very first meditation.

Downstairs, Luo Yu had just started preparing dinner and was cutting vegetables when he suddenly sensed a very obvious surge of power.

He put down the kitchen knife.

First he glanced outside the house, then looked upstairs in the direction where Ranni and Miko Yotsuya were.

He walked upstairs and opened the door to their room.

Miko Yotsuya was sitting on the floor, and magical power was visibly radiating from her body. The scale of it was steadily increasing, already approaching the level of the enemy sorcerers Luo Yu had encountered when he first entered the Carian Magic Academy.

Seeing Luo Yu arrive, Ranni walked over to the doorway and spoke softly.

"There is a certain kind of energy stored in both her eyes and her heart—something different from magical power. Perhaps due to her personality and the lack of proper guidance, it remained dormant until now. But when I guided her into meditation, that energy awakened. Combined with the magical meditation technique I taught her, the power within Miko Yotsuya is now neither pure magic nor her original energy. After examining it briefly, I believe it will possess extremely strong suppressive and destructive effects against evil spirits."

Luo Yu watched with interest as the surge of power surrounding Miko Yotsuya gradually slowed.

"That's actually a good thing. Isn't she most afraid of evil spirits? Yet the power she gained is the perfect counter to them. Once she eliminates more of those spirits in the future, her fear will naturally disappear. Ranni, with her talent, how far do you think she can go?"

Ranni shook her head.

"It is difficult to say. However, she will at least surpass the advanced sorcerers who once studied at the Carian Magic Academy. As for reaching the level of legendary sorcerers… that will require both time and considerable insight."

While they still had a moment, Luo Yu also told Ranni about encountering a Special Grade cursed spirit earlier that day.

"A Special Grade cursed spirit…" Ranni considered this briefly. "Your decision not to confront them was wise. We have only just settled here peacefully. It would not be appropriate to start a battle with an unknown enemy. Even if we could win, fighting in a city would inevitably cause casualties. This world is not the Lands Between. We must be more cautious."

Although she spoke calmly, Luo Yu could clearly tell that Ranni was quite curious about the true strength of Special Grade cursed spirits.

Smiling, Luo Yu gently took Ranni's hand.

"We'll have the chance to see it sooner or later."

Five minutes later, the energy surrounding Miko Yotsuya finally settled completely, and the girl slowly opened her eyes.

Looking around blankly, she stared at her hands.

She could clearly feel it.

Inside her body now existed a power she had never sensed before.

"Did… did I succeed?"

Ranni walked in front of her and nodded.

"Congratulations. From this moment onward, your eyes should be fully under your control. The hidden power within you has also been awakened. Your future magical training should progress smoothly."

"Really? That's amazing! Thank you both!"

Miko Yotsuya jumped excitedly in place before looking at Ranni and Luo Yu.

"Then… can I officially start learning magic now?"

Ranni nodded.

"Of course. My king, give her a staff."

Without hesitation, Luo Yu reached into his storage and produced a brown staff with a glintstone set into its tip.

"Here. This is an Astrologer's Staff I had spare. It's quite suitable as a beginner's staff for a mage. Once you truly master magic, I also have other upgraded staffs you can choose from. For now, this one will be more than enough."

Holding the Astrologer's Staff, Miko Yotsuya's eyes shone with excitement.

"Thank you, Luo Yu!"

This was her very own magic staff.

It was incredible.

After confirming that Miko Yotsuya was stable and unharmed, Luo Yu went back downstairs to continue preparing dinner.

Meanwhile, Ranni resumed her lesson, beginning to teach Miko Yotsuya her very first spell.
