Chapter 8 - C008 : Three Letters

A day of travel later, Allen, Hedin, and Heith resurfaced, maintaining their usual stoic, and serious expressions. Making a quick stop by the guild, dropping what amounts to a pathetically terrible report, full of holes, and then left for their goddess' side.

"Why'd they give me this report? It's so terrible…" Eina complained a little… She was standing outside of Royman's office, nervous for a few reasons, but one of them being that she was one of the few things Royman hated over everything else, a half-elf. Yet still she knocked. "And just after my supervisor left for the day…" She muttered under her breath.

"Come in!"

Eina opened the door, entered, and shut the door behind her. "S-sir, Some Freya familia members came by…"

"Damn them! Is that bastard Hedin still here making demands?" Royman spoke, cracking a pen with the twitch of his hand. "Damn it, that's the fifth one in two days." He muttered, opening a drawer stocked full of replacements, then sighed. "Eina, you're afraid that I hate you for your impure blood. Right now, I have no time to be thinking about stuff like that, not when those two freaks are in the city… Let me see the report they gave you, it must be bad…" He said tapping his desk.

Eina's lips went straight, no longer frowning in the moment, stepped up to the desk and placed it in front of him. Royman picked up a new pen, closed the drawer, and put the pen in its holder… Then he picked up the report, instantly realizing why Eina brought something like this.

"Why did you come, and not your supervisor?"

"He went out just before the three of them arrived. And they threatened me a few times…"

"I see, I'll draw up a heavy fine for this. Hopefully they'll learn their lesson from this experience."

"Sir?"

"Hmm, what is it?"

"Who did they see? They didn't give me any names, but said they'd need Ottar, the King?"

"AHAHAHAHA! Oh it is for the best if you don't know anything, Eina. You're far too inexperienced to help bear the weight of that knowledge." Royman laughed so hard he nearly fell out of his chair. "Seriously, it would crush your mind. Give me a moment, I'll have you deliver this to the Freya familia right away."

Royman finished writing up the fine, it was not shallow in the slightest. He pulled out another official paper, and wrote another note, this time a warning. He stamped them both, folded them up, and gave them each an envelope with an official wax seal.

"Here, take these with you to Folkvangr. Come back here after."

"Yes, sir!"

Eina grabbed the envelopes, and went to deliver them. Royman let out a heavy sigh.

"To think my fear of what those two freaks will do if provoked is enough to circumvent my dislike of half-elves…" He paused. "Just thinking about it is utterly terrifying." A shiver ran down the length of his spine.

Stardust Garden, Alise was pacing back and forth, wondering what to do. Her actions were starting to worry the other members.

"Captain, you're starting to worry us." Maryuu spoke up, unable to see her captain in such a state for a moment longer.

"Huh? What's wrong everyone? Staring at the cutest smiling lady of them all?" She quickly went right back into her antics.

"No!" Neze nearly snarled. "You're thinking something stupid right now aren't you. We're familia, so let us in on it. Even Ryuu didn't leak the secret, when offered a 100 million valis! Tsk. This better be worth it."

"Oh, yeah, well… About that…" Ryuu tried to defend herself…

"It's fine little sister, it wouldn't be right to sell someone out just for a little money. Even if that money could have been helpful, we should make it justly." Alise said standing proudly, with a thumbs up and a bright smile.

Astraea calmly strode into the room, holding a letter. "Dears, I think those two were here on their way to level up. It might take them some time to find something worthy of it. But even so, if you see them, please deliver this to them. But only if you want to…" She handed the sealed letter to Kaguya. "Keep it safe."

"Lady Astraea, what do you mean: if we want to?" Kaguya asked, storing the letter in a safe place within her kimono.

"I wish to speak with them directly. Face to face, and hear them out." Astraea said… "And invite them back to the city, if possible."

""You mean… have them join the familia?""

"Yes, I want to test their hearts. If they pass, I'd like to extend a hand to them." Astraea said… "They're the last of their familia, they must be so lonely. And, I know Hera, and Zeus. I'm sure they are just waiting for the right time to give them up to have a new family. What do you all think?"

"Those two? A big brother and sister…" Alise crossed her arms and leaned her head back… "I'll answer last… How about we start with the most recent addition?"

"Who me?" Ardee asked, turning red… "W-w-well, I… I think it would be interesting. I'm sure we could learn a lot from them." She then looked at Ryuu.

"W-w-what? So soon, uhm, I think it… it would make bathing difficult… But, we could learn a lot… But, what about Alfia?"

"Ahaha! He's an absolute hunk, I bet his body is like chiseled marble." Kaguya laughed. "Hers too now that I think about it, for a woman she was obviously tough, but beautiful."

Within a few moments, it was fairly unanimous, everyone was either open to it, or thinking it should be done.

"Alright, I think we should invite them to our familia. They're really strong as it is, and we really could learn a whole lot from them. Perhaps even learn more about how to get more out of the falna than we already do." Alise said in agreement. "However, we need to know what they think justice is to them."
