Chapter 36 - Council of Accord

The central tower stood at the heart of Astral City like a silent ruler.

As Arjun and the others approached, the air grew heavier with Origin Flow. Golden particles drifted slowly around the entrance, reacting faintly to his presence.

The massive doors opened before anyone touched them.

Kael blinked.

Okay… either that's automation or you're officially royalty now.

Seraphine walked inside without slowing.

Try not to say anything embarrassing in front of the Council.

No promises, Kael muttered.

Inside, the tower was impossibly vast. A circular chamber stretched upward through multiple levels, light flowing along walls like liquid sunlight.

At the center floated a platform surrounded by seven figures seated in the air.

The Council.

Each wore different robes marked by unique symbols. Some looked young, others ancient beyond age itself.

Their eyes all turned toward Arjun at the same time.

The pressure hit instantly.

Not hostile.

But overwhelming.

Mira instinctively stepped closer to him.

Seraphine bowed slightly.

Council members. The Unwritten Bearer has arrived.

A woman with silver hair spoke first, her voice calm and clear.

So the Guardian chose again.

An older man leaned forward.

No. Not chosen. Accepted.

Another council member studied Arjun carefully.

Step forward, child.

Arjun hesitated, then walked onto the floating platform.

The moment he did, the symbol on his hand ignited brightly.

Golden light spread across the floor, forming ancient patterns.

The council exchanged looks.

Resonance confirmed.

The silver-haired woman smiled faintly.

Tell us, Arjun Vale… what did the Guardian call you?

He swallowed.

Unwritten Bearer.

A quiet murmur passed among them.

The oldest council member closed his eyes.

Then prophecy has truly broken.

Kael whispered from behind.

I really want to know what prophecy we just ruined.

The woman raised her hand, and an image appeared above them — the fractured sky.

Long ago, she began, Guardians were created to stabilize reality after the First Collapse.

The image changed, showing ancient civilizations falling under monstrous shadows.

Entities from beyond existence attempted to merge worlds. Humanity survived only because Guardians sealed the boundary.

Lyra watched intensely.

Historical confirmation…

The council member continued.

Each Guardian bonds only with individuals whose destiny aligns perfectly with reality's balance.

She looked directly at Arjun.

But you possess no recorded destiny.

Silence filled the chamber.

Meaning, another council member added, reality itself cannot predict your outcome.

The image shifted again.

Possible futures appeared — countless branching paths.

In some, cities burned.

In others, the fracture closed peacefully.

In a few… the entire world vanished into light.

Every future centered on one figure.

Him.

Mira's voice trembled slightly.

So everything depends on him?

Not depends, the old man corrected gently.

Revolves.

Arjun felt cold hearing that.

I never asked for this.

The silver-haired councilor nodded.

No catalyst ever does.

She stood, descending slightly closer.

There is something else you must know.

The Guardians are not merely protectors.

Her expression grew serious.

They are locks.

The chamber darkened as a massive shadow appeared behind the projection — something far larger than any Guardian.

Beyond the fracture exists an Origin Entity. The source of reality itself… and its opposite.

Kael whispered.

That doesn't sound good.

If the locks fail, she continued, that entity awakens fully. Worlds merge. Existence resets.

Arjun's hand burned again.

Why me then?

The council exchanged glances.

Finally, the oldest member answered.

Because you are the only being not written into the system it seeks to overwrite.

He leaned forward.

You are invisible to destiny.

Which means…

You can change it.

Silence followed.

Then alarms suddenly echoed through the tower.

Red symbols flashed across the walls.

Warning. External barrier breach detected.

Seraphine turned sharply.

That's impossible. Astral City shields are absolute.

A guard rushed into the chamber.

Council members! Multiple spatial tears opening above the city!

The sky outside darkened instantly.

Through the tower ceiling, massive cracks spread across the air itself.

Something was forcing its way through.

A deep voice echoed across the entire city.

Unwritten One…

We have arrived.

Arjun felt his new ability activate violently on its own.

Threads shattered.

Every future split into chaos.

The Council stood simultaneously.

The invasion had begun.
