Chapter 21 - 21

Enrico Marini

Age: 41 (in 1998)

Cannon fodder number one, Beta Team leader. Don't ask why the information isn't detailed; the answer is because it couldn't be found, so only a general introduction can be provided.

As the Beta Team leader (also serving as S.T.A.R.S. Vice-Captain) with nearly 20 years of police career experience, Enrico, with his extraordinary insight, strong sense of justice, rich experience, and charisma, became the true "Captain" in the hearts of his teammates and police colleagues, the best candidate for the role.

Before joining S.T.A.R.S., he worked in the R.P.D.'s Homicide Division. His years of dealing with dangerous criminals made him meticulous in thought and decisive in action, always able to connect the most unrelated clues to find the key to solving a case.

After Beta Team's forced landing, the scene led everyone to believe that the continuous murders in the mountains were committed by the fugitive Billy Coen, so he ordered his team members to disperse and search for the culprit.

He later arrived at the Mansion and, using his abilities, gathered intelligence to confirm the truth of the incident and Wesker's true identity as a spy.

However, he was unfortunately pursued by Wesker and fled to the underground mining site. Due to being stabbed in the thigh by a Hunter, he lost the opportunity to move quickly. Before he could reveal the truth to "Jill" or "Chris," he was shot dead by Wesker with a cold gun.

...

Richard Aiken

Age: 23 (in 1998)

Cannon fodder number two, Beta Team's communications officer, responsible for the entire team's liaison work. During the operation, he was also appointed as the tactical instructor for the newcomer Rebecca. He is very familiar with various communication equipment. Additionally, he is skilled with a shotgun, and his preferred assault rifle was modified for him by Barry.

After entering the Mansion from the forest search, he was unfortunately attacked by a mutated giant python. After successfully escaping, he fell unconscious due to poisoning and felt very apologetic to Rebecca, who in turn took care of him.

After receiving help from Chris/Jill with a serum to detoxify, he sacrificed himself at the last moment to save "Chris" or "Jill," who had saved him earlier, from the jaws of a "shark" or "giant python."

He was a noble police officer with a spirit of self-sacrifice. After the Mansion incident, his wife, with their newborn child, left Raccoon City before the T-Virus outbreak, persuaded by Barry.

Kenneth J. Sullivan

Age: 45 (in 1998)

Cannon fodder number three, the only Black team member and the oldest member. He was responsible for chemical weapon defense and reconnaissance to confirm enemy positions. He was a team member skilled in chemistry. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, and his skill in pruning gardens was unmatched in the police department. Unlike his rough exterior, his personality was relatively peaceful.

Before joining S.T.A.R.S., he was in the same department as Richard. He was the last Beta Team member to arrive at the Mansion. The long search in the forest consumed a large amount of his weapons, ammunition, and physical strength.

Due to his age, he was exhausted upon reaching the Mansion. In the hallway behind the first-floor dining hall, severely overtaxed, he was attacked by the "first zombie in Resident Evil history: a Looking back and smiling."

Physically drained, he stumbled and fell at the end of the hallway while trying to escape. Although he fired all his remaining ammunition, facing this "first zombie" with incredibly high durability, he still couldn't escape and died tragically from severed arteries on the side of his head and neck. The CAM on his shoulder recorded that tragic scene.

...

Edward Dewey

Age: 26 (in 1998)

Cannon fodder number four, Beta Team's pilot. In the original Resident Evil, he was the strongest member of the team, over 190cm tall, and held a pilot's license.

He had a very upright and cheerful personality and was Vice-Captain Enrico's most capable subordinate. He was skilled in shotgun shooting. Before joining S.T.A.R.S., he belonged to Crime Scene.

Soon after the dispersed search began, intent on apprehending the culprit, he left his teammates' sight alone but got lost in the forest and was attacked by a large pack of zombie dogs.

With his ammunition nearly depleted, severely wounded and bleeding profusely, he fled into the train where Rebecca and Billy were. As an anxious Rebecca tried to give him emergency first aid, he used his last strength to leave a warning for his teammates, then quietly died in the train car. Later, he mutated into a zombie and attacked the protagonist (this part is omitted in this work due to plot changes).

Forest Speyer

Age: 29 (in 1998)

Before joining S.T.A.R.S., he was friends with Chris and Jill. He was S.T.A.R.S.'s top marksman, serving as the Bravo Team's sniper and also responsible for intelligence compilation.

His long hair and tattoo on his left arm were his distinguishing features. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the guitar. The J's Bar in Resident Evil: Outbreak was a place he frequently visited.

He was witty and humorous but had a strong sense of mission and responsibility. He was always revered by his colleagues for perfectly completing missions. After the Bravo Team's dispersed search began, he was the first S.T.A.R.S. member to discover and confirm that the Mansion was the true source of the incident.

After contacting Enrico, he was also the first to arrive at the Mansion, hoping to pave the way for his teammates who would arrive later. However, fighting alone, he was severely wounded by several Hunters inside the Mansion. With near-shocking blood loss, he fled to the balcony.

Before he died, he still tried to provide sniper cover from the balcony for his arriving teammates. Ultimately, due to shock-induced blood loss complicated by asphyxiation, he died in a chair on the balcony. By the time Chris and Jill arrived, his body had been pecked at by crows.

Albert Wesker

Aliases: Old Wesker, Uncle Wesker

Gender: Male

Appears in: Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 1, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

Date of Birth: 1960 Age: 48 Fictional Character Blood Type: O Height: 183cm (Resident Evil: Code Veronica) 190cm (Resident Evil 5) Weight: 84.5 kg (Resident Evil 0) 90kg (Resident Evil 5)

Date of Death: March 7, 2009 Nationality: American Descendant: Jake Muller Arch-nemesis: Chris Redfield Partner: Ada Wong Fellow Project Subject: Alex Wesker Friend: William Birkin

The major villain throughout the Resident Evil series, he was once a researcher at the Umbrella Corporation, later betraying and leaving. He was a colleague of another researcher, William Birkin. He was sent by the company to Raccoon City as an undercover agent, serving as the captain of the R.P.D. S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. Chris Redfield was his subordinate at the time, and later the two became arch-nemeses.

He was a highly intelligent child produced by the Umbrella Corporation's Wesker Project, experimental subject number thirteen, and one of only two Weskers who survived, the other being Alex Wesker.

Later, in the first game, after injecting himself with the virus obtained from William, he achieved a high degree of fusion, gaining superhuman abilities. Additionally, Wesker and Ada Wong had a relationship based on mutual exploitation for benefit, rather than a superior-subordinate dynamic.

Jack Muller is his descendant, inheriting his birth father's special constitution. According to documents from Resident Evil 6, Jack's mother immigrated alone to the United States from Edonia in her 20s, where she met Wesker and developed a relationship with him. However, because she did not tell Wesker she was pregnant with his child, Wesker never knew he had an illegitimate son.

In Resident Evil 0, Wesker saw the Umbrella Corporation's impending downfall and prepared to betray them and switch allegiance. To demonstrate his loyalty and leverage to his new company, Wesker returned to the Raccoon City Police Department and led all of Alpha Team into the Mansion, forcing them to fight there. At the same time, he eventually released the Tyrant to obtain Bio-weapon combat data, serving as his bargaining chip for the defection.

He was killed by the rampaging Tyrant, but having already fused with the Progenitor Virus, he used a feigned death to deceive Chris and his subordinates.

William Birkin

Alias: William Birkin

Gender: Male

Appearances: Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil 2 Remake

Date of Birth: 1962 Age: 36 (1998) Fictional Character Blood Type: O Height: 178 cm Weight: 66.7 kg Specialty: Virus Research Achievement: Discovery of the G Virus Family: Sherry Birkin, Annette Birkin Friend: Albert Wesker

A man who attempted to defile God, the founder of the G Virus, possessing superhuman talent and an extremely fanatical dedication to virus research. When the Umbrella Corporation's private force, U.S.S., attempted to seize G Virus samples, one of their members accidentally shot William. He ultimately injected himself with the G Virus, transforming into a monster.

While working at the Akeley Institute, William Birkin researched female experimental subject Lisa Trevor and discovered the G Virus progenitor. Umbrella leader Spencer approved William's G Virus development work, moving the research site underground in Raccoon City, where research progressed smoothly.

He named the G Virus "God," intending to become the creator of a new "God-like" humanity! Unfortunately, he was struck down by divine punishment, transforming into a monster of his own creation. His wife died tragically, and his daughter, Sherry Birkin, also became infected with the G Virus. Although she was later injected with an antidote serum, his daughter, Sherry Birkin, who carried G Virus antibodies, was still imprisoned and experimented on by the United States Government as a guinea pig.

Zombie

Initially, human zombies were infected by the T-Virus. The early T-Virus infection ability was not strong, so many infected corpses mostly became dead bodies, with only a small portion becoming zombies. Furthermore, the early T-Virus had not adapted to the human body, leading to slow-moving and less aggressive early zombies. Later, various viruses mixed and hybridized, gradually making zombies more threatening.

The virus granted humans powerful physical functions and accelerated healing abilities, but side effects included increased energy consumption and drastically accelerated metabolism, requiring constant intake of high-calorie foods to sustain daily activity. They would devour all kinds of food like locusts, including vegetables and fruits, but high-calorie foods like raw meat were their favorite.

At the same time, the virus affects the cerebral cortex, causing zombies to move in a peculiar manner and exacerbating somnolence. If there is no food, they will sluggishly remain stagnant on the streets to reduce energy consumption.

Note: The virus never brings people back from the dead; it only greatly slows down the rate of death. People on the verge of death who are injected with the virus become zombies to avoid dying because they are alive, and being alive means not being dead.

If a person is already dead, even if injected with the virus, they will not be revived. Whether it was Marcus or anyone else, they were infected by the virus while on the verge of death, not after already being dead when the virus was injected. Therefore, the virus does not bring people back from the dead; it only slows down the rate of death.

Mutated Leech

Mutated Leech infected by the T-Virus. Note... there is a fundamental difference between ordinary leeches and the Leech Queen. The Leech Queen is a virus formed by the fusion of the Progenitor Virus and leech DNA, while ordinary leeches are indirectly infected by the virus released by Marcus. The two are completely different.

They are palm-sized, with habits similar to ordinary leeches. Their skin is dark with a yellowish tint, and the outer layer is hardened and tough, while the inside is soft. Their oral suckers are covered with sharp teeth, which are very sharp and can easily break through glass and tactical armor.

Their mode of action is similar to bees, obeying the commands of the Leech Queen. Under Marcus's control, dense groups of leeches can be combined at any time to simulate a human form.

Leech Man

A humanoid monster mimicked by mutated leeches that inherit the memories of the infected body's former life. It's like a Leech Man who ate Luffy...Pooh! Or rather, a Leech Man who ate a Paramecia-type Gum-Gum Fruit. Its muscles are twisted all over, and its outer skin is hard and tough. Ordinary pistol bullets cannot cause effective damage. Its arms can extend to perform a Gum-Gum Machine Gun, pulling enemies closer to bite them with its oral cavity.

Although ordinary pistol bullets cannot cause damage, it has a clear weakness: it is vulnerable to fire. After all, it's a rubber man... being vulnerable to fire is very normal.

Cerberus

Doberman Pinschers infected by the T-Virus. The zombie dog breeds in Resident Evil are primarily Doberman Pinschers because in the United States, Doberman Pinschers are the preferred dog breed for police and Hunters. They are intelligent enough and very suitable for roles as police dogs and hunting dogs. Their individual attack capability is not strong, but because they retain the instinct to attack lone prey in groups, they can be very troublesome when zombie dog numbers are large.

Crow

Crows infected by the T-Virus. Infected after pecking at zombie carrion, their eyes are bloodshot, and they have a violent temperament. They often gather in groups to attack lone prey. Their threat level is low.

Giant Spider

Spiders infected by the T-Virus. They are generally as large as a big dog, covered in steel needle-like bristles. The silk they spit is extremely tough, and their fangs can inject venom, easily preying on a buffalo.

Eliminator

Monkeys infected by the T-Virus. They are cruel, fierce, and easily angered, and can be commanded and controlled. Their attack speed is extremely fast, and they often hide in corners to ambush and bite.

Hunter

A type of Bio-weapon (BOW) developed by the Umbrella Corporation. They are a group of human-animal hybrids genetically engineered into Bio-weapons. Hunters are created by transplanting reptilian donor DNA into fertilized human embryos with the help of the T-Virus as a binding agent, with the exception of the Hunter Gamma—which is created by transplanting human DNA into the genome of fertilized amphibian eggs.

Hunters are one of Umbrella Corporation's most successful and oldest products, having been in production since the 1980s. After the Umbrella Corporation's collapse, other Bio-weapon manufacturers used research data to create new Hunter species, with "Stinger" being one of the latest variants.

Because the initial T-Virus infection was not very lethal and difficult to control, Spencer was not satisfied with such Bio-weapons. Therefore, under Spencer's pressure to find a solution, William shifted weapon research towards creating new species capable of killing survivors, and thus, the "Hunter" project was born.

In the 1990s, other laboratories set out to improve William's invention. After the "Mansion Incident" in 1998, the "Alpha" embryos were further modified to improve their reaction time in combat.

However, due to uncontrolled tumor growth, the resulting "Beta" species was weaker and blind in one eye. The European Umbrella Corporation's "Gamma" took a new direction by using amphibian-human hybrids, but could only be used near bodies of water.

Other models developed during this era included "R," "Mu," "Elite," "Ticks," and Delta, the latter being the last model created by the Umbrella Corporation before its collapse in 2003.
