Chapter 32 - Chapter Thirty-Two- The Sister’s Gambit

The war room buzzed with alarms.

New alerts flashed across every monitor as the city's underground network began to collapse piece by piece.

Adrian stared at the screens, disbelief etched across his face.

"Your sister just triggered a financial apocalypse."

Lines of red warnings flooded the system.

Accounts frozen.

Shipping routes shut down.

Encrypted communications failing across multiple families.

Elena watched the chaos unfold, her heart pounding.

Valentina had always been brilliant.

But this…

This was something else.

"She planned this for years," Elena whispered.

Alessandro's gaze remained fixed on the central monitor.

"Yes."

His voice was low.

"And she's not finished."

Orlov Strikes Back

Across the city, inside the upper levels of Orlov's tower, security teams rushed through the corridors.

Emergency lights bathed the building in a cold red glow.

Orlov stood in the same office where Valentina had been tied to the chair moments earlier.

Now the chair lay overturned.

The ropes were gone.

So was she.

A guard rushed inside.

"Sir, we've sealed the lower floors."

Orlov didn't look at him.

"Too late."

He studied the wall of dark monitors where his systems had once been active.

Every screen now displayed the same message.

ACCESS DENIED

His empire's digital infrastructure had been ripped away in seconds.

Not destroyed.

Hijacked.

Orlov's lips curved slowly.

"So this is your real play, Valentina."

He turned toward the window overlooking the burning harbor.

"You want to erase us all."

Another guard approached cautiously.

"We've located her last signal."

Orlov turned.

"Where?"

The guard hesitated.

"…the De Luca estate."

The Revelation

Back at the estate, Adrian was still tracking the data breach.

"Whoever designed this virus is a monster," he muttered.

Alessandro glanced at the screen.

"That's not a virus."

Adrian frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Elena stepped closer.

"She's not destroying the systems."

Adrian zoomed in on the code.

"…she's transferring them."

The realization spread slowly across the room.

Adrian leaned back.

"You've got to be kidding me."

Elena's voice dropped.

"She's stealing everything."

Bank accounts.

Shipping networks.

Weapon inventories.

All of it.

Every secret asset belonging to Orlov and the council families.

And moving it somewhere else.

Adrian rubbed his forehead.

"She's not dismantling the mafia."

Alessandro finished the thought.

"She's taking control of it."

The Unexpected Arrival

Before anyone could speak again—

The power flickered.

Then the lights shut off completely.

Emergency generators kicked in seconds later, bathing the estate in dim white light.

Adrian grabbed his pistol immediately.

"Tell me that's not another attack."

Alessandro didn't answer.

He was staring at the war room door.

Because someone was standing there.

A familiar voice spoke calmly from the shadows.

"You really need better security."

Elena's breath caught.

"Valentina?"

The woman stepped into the light.

Her dark hair was damp from the rain.

The bruise on her cheek had darkened.

But her eyes were sharp and alert.

Very much alive.

Adrian lowered his gun slowly.

"How the hell did you get in here?"

Valentina shrugged.

"You'd be surprised how many guards look the other way when you empty their bank accounts."

Elena moved toward her sister cautiously.

"You're not hurt."

Valentina gave a faint smile.

"Orlov tried."

Alessandro watched her carefully.

"You let him capture you."

"Yes."

"Why?"

Valentina walked toward the monitors, studying the chaos she had created across the city.

"Because I needed access to his central servers."

Adrian shook his head.

"You risked getting yourself killed."

Valentina turned slightly.

"Risk is part of strategy."

Elena stared at her.

"You could have told me."

Valentina's expression softened for a moment.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because you would have tried to stop me."

Elena opened her mouth—

But stopped.

Because her sister was right.

The Real Plan

Alessandro stepped forward.

"You've crippled half the criminal network in the city."

"Yes."

"And stolen the rest."

"Yes."

Adrian folded his arms.

"So what now?"

Valentina turned back to the screens.

Her fingers moved quickly across the keyboard.

More systems locked down instantly.

"Now," she said calmly,

"We end the council."

Elena frowned.

"You mean expose them?"

Valentina shook her head.

"No."

Her voice grew colder.

"I mean erase them."

The room fell silent.

Adrian looked uneasy.

"That's going to start a full-scale war."

Valentina didn't look concerned.

"Good."

Elena grabbed her sister's arm.

"This isn't what father wanted."

Valentina's eyes hardened instantly.

"Father died because he believed those men could be reasoned with."

"He wanted justice."

"And he got betrayal."

The pain in her voice was sharp and raw.

Elena softened slightly.

"We don't have to destroy everything."

Valentina looked at her for a long moment.

Then her gaze shifted toward Alessandro.

"You trust him now?"

Elena hesitated.

The room held its breath.

Finally she answered quietly.

"I don't know."

Alessandro didn't react.

But the words landed heavily.

Valentina studied his face.

"You told the council about father."

"Yes."

"And now you want to help me finish them."

"Yes."

"Why?"

Alessandro's answer came without hesitation.

"Because they deserve it."

Valentina's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Or because they're a threat to your empire?"

"Both."

For a moment, the two of them stood in silent understanding.

Two predators recognizing each other.

Finally Valentina nodded once.

"Then we have a temporary alliance."

Adrian muttered,

"Temporary sounds dangerous."

The New Problem

Just as the plan began forming—

Another alarm appeared on the monitors.

Adrian frowned.

"That's not one of ours."

The screen zoomed in on a fleet of black armored vehicles moving rapidly toward the estate.

Dozens of them.

Elena's stomach tightened.

"Orlov."

Adrian nodded slowly.

"He's not sending mercenaries this time."

Alessandro studied the convoy.

"He's coming himself."

Valentina looked almost amused.

"Perfect."

Elena turned to her.

"You expected this?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Valentina's smile returned.

"Because this estate is the last place he expects to walk into a trap."

Alessandro raised an eyebrow.

"What trap?"

Valentina tapped a key on the keyboard.

Every screen in the war room lit up with a new network diagram.

Dozens of red markers appeared around the estate.

Adrian blinked.

"Those aren't Orlov's forces."

Valentina nodded.

"They're the council's private security teams."

Elena's eyes widened.

"You called them here?"

"Yes."

Adrian stared at her.

"You just summoned three enemy armies to the same location."

Valentina's voice was calm.

"Yes."

Elena's heart pounded.

"Why?"

Valentina looked out the window at the approaching convoy.

Then she said the words that made the entire room go still.

"Because tonight…"

"…we end all of them."
