"M-me, why would I have anything to feel guilty about? I'm the victim here, okay?!" Ms. Armstrong's eyes darted around. She was obviously hiding something.
Sonia Quincy instantly became more certain about her decision to get a lawyer.
"If you have nothing to feel guilty about, then why won't you let me get a lawyer? If a lawyer comes, won't it be easier for me to pay you?"
"Hah..." Ms. Armstrong sneered. "Who knows if the lawyer you hire is in on it with you?"
Sonia Quincy's lips curved into a smirk. "If you're worried, Ms. Armstrong, you're more than welcome to hire a lawyer of your own."
Ms. Armstrong rolled her eyes at her. "I don't have time for this... You can play all these tricks, but my husband is still lying in a hospital bed! You're paying me today, no matter what!"
Sonia Quincy's tone was firm. "I can pay, but I insist on either calling the police or getting a lawyer."
