Nina Donovan blinked her big eyes, a little uncertain. "For me?"
Jasper Sherwood shot her a sidelong glance. "My treat. Pick one."
Nina Donovan smiled at the saleswoman and pointed to the strawberry cake on the far left. "I'll have this one."
The strawberry cake was quickly boxed up and handed to Nina Donovan.
The saleswoman smiled. "Here's a fork. Enjoy."
"Thank you," Nina Donovan said.
Jasper Sherwood paid.
A fifteen-yuan cream cake.
A few strawberries were nestled on top.
Holding a bag of chestnuts in one hand, Nina Donovan eagerly started eating with the other.
Sweets always put one in a good mood. Her features relaxed, her happiness visible to the naked eye.
Jasper Sherwood watched from behind, and seeing her satisfied expression, he couldn't help but think, 'This fifteen-yuan cream cake is probably the cheapest one the great Miss Nina Donovan has ever had in her life.'
But Nina Donovan wasn't thinking about any of that.
