As he was observing the fishermen go about their business he quickly remembered that there was a company in his past life, captain fresh. This company was quite revolutionary even in 2020 making them reach valuation of over 3500 crores. Their main success was eliminating the middlemen and sorting the fish right when they were caught. This was quite a hassle as of now as the fish were unsorted when they were shipped to the middlemen resulting in quite a bit of wastage as well as not being able to tailor to the needs of buyers.
But without a buck in his pocket advancing with this would prove to be quite a huge endeavor, one he does not have enough time to work on considering all the supply chain issues. Then it hit him, why not just sell the idea? but who would he sell them to? who would believe a 10 year old kid and be patient enough to see the value of his idea.
As he was mulling over this issue Karan put his hands over Arjun's shoulders and whispered what are you looking at bro, shall we go and play in the water for while?. Then it stuck Arjun, yes this should be able to do it, he quickly asked Karan, is your father at home Karan? and received a positive reply from him he explained his plan to Karan. After convincing him which took some time they both hurried to Karan's home. Karan's bungalow at the time was the biggest house in their surrounding villages and his father Madan Mohan had quite the flare about him in the surrounding villages as he was the sarpanch of their village Manginapudi as well as being the richest person in the constituency of Machilipatnam. Approaching him would be the most suitable option for him considering his relation with Karan as well as their financial capability.
They could notice quite a number of people surrounding Karan's home and they understood it was time for village panchayat. They waited patiently for it to be over. As they stood waiting Karan's mom approached them and asked what's going why are you two waiting here for? to which Karan sneakily replied well "Mr.Arjun wants to speak to father about some sort of business so we are waiting for him".
This gave quite a bit of shock to his mother, she started thinking a 10 year old kid wanting to do business with Madan? could this be some sort of joke? was he here to scam them? But she knew Arjun and their family for quite a while now. They were in this village for quite a few generations now, neither Arjun nor his family came across as scamming kind to her so she quickly invited him for some snacks.
As both the kids were bickering with each other while munching on the snacks Karan's mom had brought out for them, Madan approached them with quite a stoic face of his. This quickly silenced both of them as parents at this time were quite strict with their kids and one or two sticks to their knuckles was a common occurrence to discipline them. Madan sat on his sofa and asked Arjun what is it beta, you seem to have something to discuss with me.
Arjun quickly came back to his senses upon this but he was quite unsure about how to approach this village sarpanch about his idea. As he was contemplating about this Madan just sat their watching him not bothered by the time he was taking. It was quite understandable for him given his standing and Arjun being a 10 year old child this was how things should be. Arjun realizing his slow response quickly greeted his uncle Madan, "Hello uncle, how are you doing these days, is your health good?", which surprised Madan quite a bit as kids asking elders about their health was sort of taboo during these times but he did not take it to heart.
He responded "I am doing quite good for this Arjun, what about you Pramila(Madan's wife) says you have some business to do with me?" Arjun caught on to this que and responded "how's the fishing and selling going these days uncle? are there any issues?". Madan was once again taken aback but promptly replied "fishing is going as always but selling is quite an issue these days, Although our regular middlemen are still purchasing our fishes there is still quite a bit of volume being unsold and they too have been slowly decreasing their order volume due to the famine in the nearby states". Then it hit Arjun 1989 to 1991 was quite a bit of tough period for the Indian economy, this might be tough to work out.
As he was lost in his though he heard Madan's cough and felt embarrassed for making an elder wait for him. "Uncle i have an idea which might be quite useful to your current situation i wonder if you could hear me out?". Madan although surprised encouraged the kid to go on. "Uncle as i see it currently we are selling our fishes in bulk to these middlemen who then impose quite a bit of mark up before selling it to businesses or people, what if we were to replace these middlemen?". Madan was quite frankly surprised, replacing these middlemen? there were quite a few of them and some with considerable power too, replacing them was solution local government though about long time ago but they did not continue considering the figures backing them. Now this 10 year old kid is advising him on this matter? Still it would not hurt to listen, being a politician this was what he was good at, having enough patience.
Arjun went on "Uncle have you ever thought about categorizing the sea food inventory immediately after being brought to shore, and streamlining this across different villages or perhaps even districts? and then collectively sell them to a big retailer or wholesaler instead of going through all these middlemen. I think this would not only help solve the problem but also help you further down the line?".
As he began thinking about this Madan began to realize the ingenuity of the idea, if this could be implemented it would solve one of the major problems in the Indian fishing industry. It would also help him immensely in his political aspirations down the line. But he could not understand what this kid expected from him for sharing this with him, "This is a very brilliant idea Arjun but why would you approach me? does'nt your dad work in fishing bureau already?".
To this Arjun straight forwardly replied uncle i want to sell this concept to someone and you're the most suitable person right now to buy this. Madan understood this point and replied okay how about i buy this for 100 rupees? he was not being serious just assessing how much Arjun wanted to make of this, if it was too much he would just reject him.
Arjun being perceptive of this did not take the offer to heart and instead replied how about 50 thousand rupees uncle?, This one sentence was enough to make both Karan and Pramila dumb stuck but Madan replied it's too much how about 10 thousand?, the negotiations carried on for a bit longer until they settled at a price of 30 thousand rupees, but this also required for Arjun to sign an NDA with Madan's company to not speak of this idea elsewhere.
Arjun was expecting this and quickly accepted, they decided to meet the next day in Madan's office to sign the contract and finalize the deal. As he walked out of their home Arjun was quickly thinking about how to utilize this 30 thousand rupees efficiently under his current circumstances. Anyway that night Arjun slept with a huge smile on his face, Even though it was only 30 thousand he made his first pot of gold, that too only on the second day of his rebirth!! It felt like birth of something miraculous. Only time would tell how miraculous this would be.
