Chapter 11 - Naming their printing press

It was mid noon by the time they were done with the movie, they proceeded to have their supper and Arjun took a short trip to the nearby market.

He purchased chocolates that were not usually available for purchase in their villages for his sister. He did not understand what his dad and mom would like for their presents. He proceeded to buy an imported pen for his father.

He wanted to purchase a set of gold bangles for his mother, after all which Indian women did not like to wear gold, especially the older they got the more they loved wearing gold.

But when he approached the counter in a famous gold shop they shooed him off. It was then he remembered he was still a ten year old kid.

He could only drop the idea when he enquired the prices in another shop. They had quoted him price of twenty thousand rupees for a set of heavy bangles. Even though it was much cheaper compared to the prices of twenty first century, to him who only had less than fifteen thousand rupees left with him it was beyond his limits.

Disappointed he could only settle with purchasing a Pattu saree for his mother. Pink was her favorite color so he proceeded to purchase pink saree with a gold border for his mother. It cost him quite a penny too. Together with the purchases he had made earlier it cost him three hundred and seventy rupees for all the purchases together.

Although it costed him quite a bit he felt it was worth it. He never had the chance to gift anything to his parents in his past life. This time he would not be the same, His first priority would be to give them the life they deserved to the best of his abilities.

In his previous life he ran his whole life behind money. He did not realize their importance and by the time he did they were no more. This was his biggest regret from his past life.

It was evening by the time he was done with his shopping and joined Karan and his father back at the hotel. They proceeded to check out and started their return journey to the village.

It was better to return to village before it was late night. Even though security had considerably improved by this time it was not completely safe yet, especially during late nights.

Madan had already arranged for Bhargav to stay for another night and return together with the printing machines and raw materials they had purchased earlier.

They had already arranged for a shipment company to do the shipping. Although the shipping company were uneasy when they learned about shipping to outside the town, they accepted the order once they got to know about Madan's identity.

During their return trip Madan and Arjun proceeded to discuss about the production of All in One. Arjun first explained the purpose and advantages of All in One to Madan.

Madan was quite impressed with the idea. Although it was still unknown whether it would be a hit or not he felt it was a revolutionary idea.

He promised Arjun to visit his school the next day and meet up with their principal. They were racing against time, It was currently mid January. Board exams would begin in little over a couple months.

According to their planned timeline they had to get the Layout book done within the next couple weeks. Only then would they be able to get the books printed and ready for the prime time for exams which was from mid February to march end.

If they missed this deadline they would have to wait for another whole year. This was something neither of them had the patience for, they had already spent over hundred thousand rupees for the raw materials and machines. It would be too much of an opportunity cost loss if they missed this opportunity.

Madan thoroughly understood this point after his discussion with Arjun. The more they delayed the more profits they would lose. Karan who sat next to the driver was impressed by their planning. He did not know prior that planning a venture would be this complicated.

He swore to himself that he too would work to best of his abilities. He did not want to fall behind his bestie, He wanted to support him and get praised by his father. This was the goal he set to himself for the considerable future.

Arjun then shifted the topic to naming and logo design of their printing press. He wanted to name it P.K printing press, it was based on the first letters of his parents names.

Madan was okay with any name his soon to be partner proposed, What mattered to him more were the potential profits and whether Karan could learn anything from this venture. As for the name who cares, he already had many ventures named after himself.

What confused him though was Arjun's emphasis on the logo design. But since Arjun was adamant it was important he would just go with it.

Arjun who was from the future placed more importance on the logo design. After all their logo would define their brand, And according to him Branding was the most important thing for a company.

With enough branding a bag worth three thousand rupees could sell for over three lakhs in his previous life. Although he did not have such lofty ideas and even felt this method was quite predatory since he was the one doing it he did not feel any guilt in doing this.

As for the issue of logo designer, Arjun felt his mother would be the best candidate for this. He did not know how but his mother was a major in designing which was remarkable considering who women were treated in this day and age. What he could not make sense of though was why she never mentioned anything about her family ever. This remained a mystery in past life and even now.

But he did not pay much attention to this, he would first handover this task to her and if the results were not satisfactory all he needed to do was to have another short trip to Vijayawada which would take at most a day as it was only designing a logo according to his needs, any experienced designer could do this within a couple hours.

It was quite late by the time they reached their village. As the group neared his home they could notice his father standing angrily at their home entrance. Although Pratap wanted to scold his son quite a bit he could only shut up once Madan came up to apologize for the delay.

According to their plans before going to Vijayawada to return on the Sunday evening so that the kids could attend their school on Monday.

But the deal with Vladimir and further negotiations with Gopal Rao took another extra day. Madan who was also a parent understood how angry Pratap would feel, so even though he was the village head he took a step down and apologized to him honestly.

Pratap's anger cooled down once Madan apologized, he reasoned perhaps the delay was caused because of Madan was busy with some other matter.

Arjun then bid farewell to the father and son duo and entered his home. His mother seeing her kid after two days started enquiring about his accommodation and food he had in Vijayawada.

She quickly arranged their dinner, and started enquiring Arjun about his days away from home. This was the first time in her life that she stayed away from him and it took quite a toll on her.

Arjun could notice the black circles under her eyes and could only lament silently in his heart. Alas although it was quite a blessing to have such loving mother and caring father, it was also tough on him.

Anything he had to do, he had to inform his parents and take their permission before doing anything. He wanted to change this but it was still too early and he was still too poor.

He did not present them the gifts he had prepared for them as it was already very late and gifting something late night was considered a bad omen during these times.

Once done with their dinner they proceeded to go to sleep. His mother who had missed him dearly in the past two days joined him in his room to sleep beside him.

Arjun who was already over thirty years old in mental age was surprised by this but could understand. He too missed the feeling of sleeping next to his mother.

He could not even remember the last time he slept next to his mother. He got quite emotional and his eyes welled up with tears. Kavitha who noticed this could only reason to herself perhaps her son missed her in the past days like she did too.

Arjun who woke up half past six the next day noticed his mother had already woken up and heard sounds coming from the kitchen. He had the best sleep of his life yesterday so he was full of spirit and looking forward to the day ahead.
