Chapter 59 - Getting Bhargav on board

Arjun together with Balram went to visit the land and check out it's surroundings, one problem that did not exist with this land was it was on a high ground.

With their village being so close to the ocean Arjun was afraid about it's ground height but since it was on the high ground compared to rest of their village it solved most of his worries.

Balram and Arjun took a couple of rounds around the place and came to the conclusion that even though it was on the high ground and was barren there were still plenty of weeds and trash still on the land which had to be removed.

Arjun did not mind it since it would not take much time for the construction crew of thirty people to clear out the weeds and trash before the construction.

They left back to the press where Arjun reiterated his instructions to make sure no accidents happen at the construction to Balram and reminded him to also take care of the people if any unforeseen circumstances arise.

The next day Balram woke up early to go to the site and borrowed a neighbors front porch platform to lie for a while and wait for the construction crew to arrive.

Around ten in the morning Balram could see few lorries coming towards their village with construction material and construction crew so he hurriedly got up from the porch and went to receive them.

Luckily Bhargav too had arrived to meet with he engineer to show him where to place the materials and all while the engineer and Bhargav took a walk around the land to check things out.

Balram meanwhile assisted the crew in offloading the items and making sure everything was accounted for in the log book Bhargav had brought. Even though he did not have to do these Balram decided to take up the odd jobs since he could see how his sister wanted Arjun to succeed and he wanted to chip in his own share.

Once Bhargav left to do his own work rest of the construction crew joined in clearing out the barren area.

The local people who noticed the commotion and lorries came to check things out and questioned Balram what the commotion was about and learning from him that this was preparation for the new factory they were immensely exited after all this meant extra job opportunities for every one in the village.

They observed for a while and seeing all the crew were doing were clearing some weeds they returned back to their households and carried on with their routine.

When Arjun and Karan came to visit the land in the evening after school they could see Balram and Pratap involved in some chat while most of the crew were almost done clearing the weeds.

Since most of the crew were from Vijayawada and they had no way to accommodate thirty people in the village the crew had to return back to the town and start early int he morning next day to come here on time.

Arjun felt this was too much of a time waste since they would be spending around four to five hours travelling. Perhaps it would have been better to hire another company from the nearby town Machilipatnam instead but since they were in a hurry Arjun did not have time to notice such details and now they had already paid the advance they could not take a step back anymore.

Well it was nothing to worry anyway, The company also signed the contract with the strict deadline of two weeks so Arjun was sure they would figure something out or perhaps these people were already experienced enough in building so they could do the construction in the allotted time.

The next day evening after visiting the site once again Arjun decided to pay his visit to Madan and talk about the issue of recruiting Bhargav into the factory.

He was going to do the hiring in a couple of days and had to know whether Madan would let Bhargav go or not. When he reached Madan's office he was still in his usual chair discussing something with another village government employee.

Seeing Arjun waiting for him Madan quickly ended their chat and called Arjun in while asking Bhargav to bring them some cool drinks.

Even though he visited the office so many times this was the first time he was being offered drinks which made Arjun very happy. It seemed Madan was starting to treat him more closely and Arjun did not mind it one bit as this guy was soon going to be a MLA.

What is it that brings you here again Arjun? questioned Madan sipping his cola.

Well uncle i am hiring the staff for the factory in a couple of days and want to recruit Bhargav for position of accounts and sales manager.

Hmm...but i don't mind letting him go but have you asked for his opinion Arjun?

No uncle, i wanted to enquire you first before approaching him.

Good, at least you still have some manners Madan laughingly mentioned and called Bhargav inside.

So Bhargav Arjun says he wants to hire you for huis factory, what are your thoughts on this?

Sir....i will go along with whatever you suggest Bhargav replied after some hesitation.

Madan who was experienced enough caught on with the hesitation immediately and reprimanded Arjun for stealing one of his core employees.

Alright since he wants to join you i don't mind letting him go but what are you going to give me in return Arjun, after all it can't be me doing favors all the time right?

This question left Arjun in a lurch. What Madan had mentioned was absolutely true and he did not know what he could offer Madan in exchange for taking Bhargav from under him.

As Arjun was busy in his thoughts Madan calmly sipped his cola curios what this kid would come up with this time. During all this time one thing he was most impressed with was how this kid navigated between situations and wanted to test him one more time.

He did not really mind Bhargav joining Arjun since they would still be in the same village and having one of his men in the factory would be beneficial for him in the long run too. Forcefully retaining Bhargav would only bring negative results as he too seemed interested in joining the factory management which was naturally a step forward for Bhargav who was just a secretary to a village surpanch right now.

As Arjun thought for a while an idea hit him which seemed feasible and his expression finally relaxed and Arjun proposed his new idea to Madan.

Uncle since we are in last ten days before final exams i was thinking about stopping the sales of All in Ones and giving them away for free to get a better name for our press but now that you've brought the issue up how about you do the distribution?

Hmm...how many books are we talking about?

I think around seven or eight thousand All in One's. It will be at least five thousand copies enough for you to distribute them in at least thirty to forty villages.

So many books Arjun? those are worth around two lakhs or more no?

Yes uncle but i don't want them to sit idle in our inventory for another eight months once this exam period ends and was already considering to donate them.

Good kid, i did not know you had this side to you alright i agree but i need the books by this Sunday so i can do my preparations as well.

Arjun quickly agreed and left with Bhargav while Madan was the one who was lost in his thoughts this time. He never imaged Arjun would come up with such move.

This was like hitting at least two to three birds with one stone. For one Arjun did not have to worry about keeping an inventory for the books which during these times was a very hard thing to do in their village which lacked many proper facilities and storing them in a normal warehouse was not a good choice either with the abundance of rats.

Second was the recognition this move would bring to Madan and P.K press in the surrounding villages. Since it was donating to tenth class kids who in two or three years would become adults and eligible to vote, donating books worth forty rupees each for free would absolutely bring Madan in their good graces which could help him a lot in the future.

Third was this way Bhargav would not feel bad about leaving Madan since Arjun paid enough price to satisfy Madan and could work without any worries. As he thought more about it Madan realized how brilliant this idea was and a smirk slowly appeared on his face.
