Once they were done with the lunch everyone started to return back to their homes, Arjun asked for partners who were involved in the press business to stay back and asked for Karan to lead them to Madan's office.
Madan and Arjun had already discussed about this earlier and felt his office would be the ideal place to hold the main meeting unlike the open aired ceremony location as they were going to discuss about their profits and neither of them wanted others in the village to hear the contents in the meeting. After all even though they were all good people you never know how people would react once they hear the actual numbers. This was the major reason Arjun had avoided mentioning any rupee amounts and just mentioned the amount of sold copies.
If someone did calculate their profits they could always use the excuse of advertisements, raw materials, machinery, employee benefits so on and so on. As Arjun was about to head to the office too he saw Saheri heading towards her car where he could see a couple of body guards waiting for.
Arjun hurried to her shouting out her name to make her stop.
What is it my dear nephew, you have something to do with me? Saheri questioned with a cheeky smile.
Just looking at that smile sent shivers down Arjun's spine but he still gathered his courage and spoke slowly, Yes Atha there is something i need your help with.
What is it kiddo? You know i can't keep giving out favors for free!! Saheri exclaimed.
Atha, is it possible to get a gun license for one of my body guards? Arjun asked unsure how this she devil would respond.
Saheri was taken aback by such a request and pressed further, Gun license? do you even know what you're talking about kid? You made some money and now you think you're some bigshot huh!!
As Saheri was going on with her rant, Arjun stopped her midway and explained his experience at the temple the previous week as well as him hiring another couple body guards.
Saheri was shocked after hearing Arjun's story but she still felt he was making a mountain out of a molehill. She reprimanded him to not think too much into such matters and was about to leave but what Arjun said next stopped her in her tracks.
It's not about me Atha, i am worried about my family. You know none of them ever speak why we had to come so far away but i understand there might be some danger if we get out of here one day or perhaps they might even be searching for us as we speak. That's the only reason i want you to help me with this, Arjun tried to put his thoughts in the best way he could without speaking too many hypotheticals.
Saheri went into deep thought after hearing out Arjun and let out a sigh after a couple of minutes. Let me tell you kiddo, i still feel you're thinking too much into it and anyway with that gut Pratap around you need not worry so much as you're doing right now. Let me see what can i do about the gun permit but i cannot guarantee anything as there would be less than ten thousand gun permits through out the country anyway. Relax and go on with your life, what is bound to happen will happen. Saheri said her piece and entered into her car without paying anymore attention to what Arjun was trying to explain.
Arjun who was still trying to explain stuff understood this was all that he could do and prayed to god to help him get the gun permit as soon as possible.
As he was heading to the office though Saheri's words rang again and again in Arjun's head. Especially the part where she mentioned Pratap got him curios but he did not know how to confront his father about this and let it go for now as he had a meeting to attend to.
Venkateshwar Rao who was heading back to his house saw Arjun enroute and called out for him which made Arjun once again turn directions and head towards the school headmaster.
What is it Rao sir, not satisfied with the promotion we did for your school in our event? Arjun mentioned jovially
Venkateshwar Rao who had no such thoughts immediately denied Arjun's claims and thanked him for all the effort he did for the school.
Arjun too thanked him in return once again as he too none of this would have been possible without their help.
Well Arjun i wanted to remind you about your exams from tomorrow as i felt you might have forgotten about it mixed up in all these event stuff and your upcoming factory.
Yes sir i do remember, it's going to be in the afternoon once the tenth class board exams gets done right?
Yes Arjun, just make sure you reach before two in the afternoon, since we can't allocate you a classroom because of classes being rescheduled to the afternoon you'll have to give the exams in the staff room.
Arjun was okay with anything as long as he was allowed to give the exams early and thanked the head master once again before heading back to Madan's office.
When Arjun reached the office all the people were already seated and sipping their cola's which he assumed was Lalitha's doing and gave a slight nod to her as he headed to the main chair.
Once he too got seated Lalitha handed him the documents containing their past three months of financial data. Arjun quickly thanked her and started speaking out,
Let me thank you all who are here right now as what we achieved so far was due to our collective effort. In the past three months we have made a profit of twenty lakhs on our All in one sales while the other two products made us a profit of nine lakhs combined. Let me remind you all that this was just the press profit and not the income.
Arjun's words made Pratap, Madan and Karan's faces lit up and all of them held their heads high while the other parties involved were impressed by the figures but since it was not their concern they did not have much opinion regarding it.
Arjun then turned his head towards Vikram and Tharun and thanked them once again. They were able to sell seventy two thousand copies of All in ones in just a gap of two months which was quite impressive that too when one considered that everyone of them were new to the field.
This made them eligible for the six rupee per book sold commission according to their agreement and even though the actual sales were only sixty five thousand books as the rest were used for Madan's donation campaign Arjun had already promised them that he was going to stick to the same cliff.
Commission for sixty five thousand books was going to be three lakh ninety thousand rupees which Arjun promptly filled in the cheque and made Madan sign the cheque before handing it to Tharun.
Tharun and Vikram were immensely happy once they saw the cheque and the figures written on it. Even though they already had an agreement you never know what could happen in today's world in their opinion making them sigh in relief once they received the cheque.
This was more amount than what they had received through membership fees and donations in the past two years. Both of them felt this was the best decision they had taken in their career as union members and thanked Arjun, but they too had put in many hours of their life into this and felt all that hard work was finally worth it. After all they too had their internal agreements with the union where if something went wrong both of them had to step down taking responsibility but if they did succeed the union members were okay with handing five percent of earnings to the duo as a way of thanking them.
Once this matter was over Arjun brought up the topic of the new product drawing books. Ravi who was initially uninterested in this matter was suddenly interested after hearing how much they had made through the All in One's while the products he dealt with did not even make half the amount.
But he understood how impossible this was if this task was allocated to their distributions as they could not black mail the schools into selling their products like the union did but did not feel it was too illegal as such matters were prevalent in these days, it was just that nobody had focused on schools like the union did.
