Chapter 106 - Chapter 106: The Continuous Process

The Fifth Vitality Seal differed fundamentally and conspicuously from its four predecessors in its actual mode of application. The most significant divergence lay in the temporal requirement; it demanded a duration far exceeding any previous stage. It would not be implemented through a single, concentrated burst of intensity lasting a few days.

On the contrary, Dan estimated that the process would require approximately twenty years of continuous effort. Two full decades of ceaseless work, without pause. This duration was dictated by the sheer magnitude of the target: thirty trillion cells had to be treated. Even with his vastly improved simultaneous control, which allowed him to manipulate millions of cells at once, the sheer scale made it a marathon, not a sprint.

To navigate this challenge, Dan devised a strategy of singular genius. He allocated a significant portion of his transcendent cognitive capacity to manage this complex operation in the background of his mind—permanently and perpetually. It would function like a background processor, working in the shadows with silent efficiency while the rest of his consciousness proceeded with daily life. This incredible ability to partition his focus and multi-task at such an elite level was one of the direct rewards of the Fourth Vitality Seal. He could now manage hundreds, perhaps thousands, of independent mental tasks simultaneously—a human vessel housing the power of a super-processor.

In truth, Dan had already begun the active work on the Fifth Seal approximately two months ago. The process was underway, progressing cell by cell—slowly, but with absolute steadfastness. Hundreds of millions of cells had already been integrated into the new network, yet they remained but a drop in the ocean of thirty trillion.

Despite the daunting scale, he felt a tangible improvement in the procedure every single day. The work was becoming faster, smoother, and more intuitive. The process was self-accelerating. As the Fourth Seal continued to nourish his brain and nervous system with concentrated healing Chakra, his mental performance sharpened. This, in turn, elevated his simultaneous cellular control to even higher echelons. Tens of millions today would inevitably become hundreds of millions, then billions.

Simultaneously, the four existing seals—Bones, Muscles, Organs, and Brain—were tightly interwoven. They fed into one another in a closed, virtuous cycle. Every moment, one seal fortified the others, compounding their efficacy. This meant that Dan's power, talents, and raw capabilities were in a state of constant, non-stop evolution. Today he was stronger than yesterday; tomorrow he would surpass today. After a year, the difference would be profound; after a decade, he would be incomparable. It was exponential, cumulative growth.

Dan looked deeply at the scrolls scattered across his desk—dozens of pages filled with complex diagrams and lengthy equations. After a final, meticulous review of every detail and the correction of a few minor past errors, he rose slowly from his seat. He stretched his body and drew a deep breath.

He glanced toward the far corner of the laboratory. There sat Hoshi, his daughter and closest assistant, entirely absorbed in her study within the section of the library dedicated to spiritual energy and advanced Genjutsu. She was preparing for the second stage of her project: integrating illusions into the family's defensive barrier. Noting her intense focus and determination, he chose not to disturb her, leaving her to her studies in peace.

Then, without a sound or a visible ripple in the air, he vanished.

He reappeared almost instantaneously in his private, isolated training grounds—a territory now officially forbidden to all other family members. Before commencing his daily regimen with the Depth Seal, he decided to initiate a new form of training he had only recently begun. It was a subject that had occupied his mind since the very first day he realized he had been transported into the actual world of Naruto: Elemental Affinity.

Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Lightning—the five fundamental elements. They were the bedrock of Ninjutsu and the primary source of power for the Shinobi. Yet, despite his gargantuan strength and deep research, the elements had remained an enigma for decades—locked and out of reach.

Recently, however, he had achieved a genuine and massive breakthrough in this vital area. It was an insight he had gained not through direct intent, but as a byproduct of another study. While investigating the relationship between consciousness, intent, and their direct impact on the nature of Chakra, he discovered a functional way to utilize the five elements.

His method was entirely unorthodox. The traditional way of the Shinobi—those who would appear in the future—depended on complex Hand Signs and pre-set templates, memorizing specific sequences to manipulate Chakra. Dan's method bypassed this entirely. It relied on a profound understanding of Chakra architecture, consciousness, and pure intent.

No Hand Signs. No templates. Only will and understanding.

It was infinitely more difficult to master, yet more powerful and flexible, possessing almost no upper limit. This breakthrough had unlocked a massive door to the hidden secrets of the world's power system. He finally had answers to the fundamental mechanics of Ninjutsu: Why were Hand Signs necessary for others? Why were they unnecessary for him? How did neutral Chakra transform into a specific element? What was the true role of imagination and visualization?

The picture was finally becoming clear. The puzzle was almost complete.
