Dan thought to himself as he reviewed everything he knew about the events that were soon to unfold in the outside world.
In truth, he remembered the history of these events quite well. Back in his original world, he had watched the Naruto movie that revolved around this incident. However, the film did not explore every detail in depth, instead limiting itself to what served its visual narrative within its short runtime.
But after arriving in this world, Dan had come to understand far more than what the movie had presented regarding the event known as the Box of Ultimate Bliss. His understanding of this world, its techniques, the nature of spiritual energy, the paths of the Pure Land, and the beings that resided there had allowed the entire picture to become clear in his mind.
Moreover, he realized that this event fit perfectly into the grand plan he was weaving for the future and complemented it remarkably well. Therefore, he deliberately incorporated it into his overall design.
Nor was this the only event he had integrated into his grand strategy. There were several other scattered pieces throughout this world's history that he knew about and had been quietly observing. One example was the demon known as Mōryō, whom his son Thorn's wife, Hinako, had sealed inside that cave. Part of the reason Dan had instructed Thorn to teach her the Walt Family's unique fūinjutsu was because he did not want Mōryō to be split into two halves as happened in the original story. Likewise, there was Ryūmyaku , whose existence he had personally confirmed. It was an element far deeper and more complex within the structure of this world, and in due time it would play an extremely important role in carrying out his plans.
Fundamentally, Dan had discovered that the world of Naruto was far deeper than the original story had ever revealed. The story itself was, at its core, wrapped in an atmosphere of hope, love, goodness, and humor, presenting the world almost entirely through the perspective of its protagonist and the light that naturally surrounded him because of his extraordinary personality. But after arriving in this world, Dan had come to see an entirely different reality.
In truth, this world was incredibly dark and unbearably harsh for ordinary people and the weak, who made up the overwhelming majority of its population. Every form of evil and darkness existed here and was continuously committed. Secret councils and sinister organizations. Malevolent beings. Ancient conflicts between clans that left entire regions scarred for generations. Secrets buried deep within the Pure Land itself. All of this and far more had always existed within this world, yet it had remained on the margins while the story followed Naruto, his friends, their battles, their emotions, and their dreams.
That realization only made Dan admire Naruto even more. Once you truly understood how profoundly dark this world was, and how merciless it was toward those who lived on its margins, it became impossible not to admire someone as bright as Naruto.
Even now, after coming to this world and understanding the darkness it contained, Dan still admired someone like Naruto. To maintain control over one's inner darkness and become a beacon of hope for those around him was an extraordinarily difficult achievement. Any ordinary person raised under the same circumstances Naruto had endured would almost certainly have fallen and been consumed by that inner darkness. Becoming the exception was no small feat. For that reason alone, Naruto deserved the admiration of someone like Dan, who judged people according to objective standards.
Because of that, Dan had no intention of interfering with Naruto's journey or changing the challenges that awaited him. On the contrary, he wanted Naruto to continue walking his own path and face everything before him with nothing but his own strength and determination. At the same time, Dan found himself genuinely curious about one thing: when the dark future he intended to impose upon humanity finally arrived, would someone like Naruto still be able to remain true to himself? Would he be able to carve a path of hope through madness and darkness?
